I got this for my 9 year old but of course I needed to test it out in order to provide a detailed review :). Never having been on a hover board before it was a little precarious learning to operate one and I'm slightly above the weight limit so I couldn't quite put it through its paces, but I did get a good feel for how it works. Once I got the hang of it it was pretty easy to operate. I suspect a lighter person would have an easier time with the balance because the gyroscopic self leveling function was not designed for my weight. The product description claims a runtime of up to 30 minutes, that's about right. However, it takes less than 10 minutes before the green light goes away, and maybe another 15 minutes and the orange light goes too at which time you'll want to prepare to charge it. It takes a good 7-8 hours to charge it from near empty. Reading the instructions I was surprised to learn this hover board uses the older sealed lead acid battery chemistry because they are heavy which impacts the range and portability, and they are also less energy dense compared to lithium ion batteries. But a little bit of research explains why: because the early lithium ion based hover boards tend to catch fire while the tried and true lead acid batteries do not, unless they are abused. However, that means for the same weight it packs much less power, and lead acid batteries don't like to be deeply discharged as that impacts their ability to hold a charger in the future. In my experience they're a lot harder to maintain because used in this manner they go through deep charge and discharge cycles unlike in a car. That's why the instruction warned to stop using the hover board and charging immediately when it's down to the red light only. Well it pretty much won't let you operate it for long in that state anyway. I suppose it's a reasonable compromise, and while I wished it used the newer and safer LiFePO4 chemistry I understand that would drive up the cost too. Interestingly when I researched lithium ion based hover boards many don't provide any more runtime, so the real disadvantage is the weight and number of charge cycles. Maybe it would have been nice if it had the option to turn off the lights to extend the battery life, but that's really part of the fun too 😄. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a very cool and fun hoverboard to ride. I got this for my sons, and they love it. And the age for this ride is 8 years old and up, with a maximum weight limit of 110 pounds, making this a great kid’s ride. The only con with this hoverboard is that it takes a long time to fully charge and also only lasts about 30 minutes when in use. ... show more
