This Segway Ninebot was an essential ride for getting around the city of Seattle. I really liked how durable it felt and how well it handled different surfaces around the city. Whether I was riding on regular pavement, rougher patches, or just getting from one place to another quickly, it always felt solid and dependable. There is a bit of a learning curve at first if you are not used to balancing on something like a bike or skateboard, but it does not take long to get the hang of it. I liked that you can adjust the speed in the app as you get more comfortable with riding, turning corners, and overall control. That makes it a lot more beginner-friendly and gives you room to build confidence before opening it up more. Another thing I appreciated was how quiet and portable it was. It is easy to take with you, store, or load into a vehicle, and it rides without a lot of noise. The range was decent for city use and worked well for what I needed. My only real complaint is that I wish it were a little faster. Overall, this was a fun, practical, and reliable scooter that both my wife and I enjoyed using. I wanted to love this thing because, honestly, it is probably the most fun you can have for around $600. If you have wide open flat spaces, walking paths, empty parking lots, or smooth neighborhood sidewalks with caution, it is an absolute blast. Segway did a fantastic job building a fun machine. What they don't emphasize enough is the very real risk of a serious fall, which is why I am returning mine before it happens to me. This machine is basically a sophisticated gyroscope constantly making thousands of tiny corrections every second to keep you balanced. In a perfect environment, it works incredibly well. The problem comes when things are less than perfect. A bump, a rut, a slope, or an unexpected movement can cause the machine to make a hard correction. Your natural human instinct is to compensate, but sometimes your correction and the machine's correction fight each other. The result is simple: it can throw you. At 11 mph, you're traveling about 16 feet per second, standing 5–6 inches off the ground with nothing protecting you except your reaction time. A bad fall can mean road rash if you're lucky. If you're not, it can mean a broken wrist, a broken arm, a smashed face, lost teeth, or a serious head injury. I'm 49 years old, in excellent shape, I work out regularly, and my reflexes are still very sharp. I bought this thinking it would be a fun and useful tool for my large property. It isn't. That was my mistake, not the machine's. This is not a tractor, an ATV, or a work tool designed for uneven terrain. It is exactly what it was designed to be: an incredibly fun recreational device for smooth, predictable surfaces while wearing proper safety gear. The difference between being 20 and 49 is experience. I don't need to suffer a major injury to recognize the probability of one. For me, it became a question of whether the enjoyment was worth the possibility of slamming face-first into concrete, a wall, a tree, or a piece of equipment. The answer was no. If you buy this, respect it, wear a helmet, and understand its limitations. On the right surface, it's amazing. Use it where it was never intended to go, and you may eventually learn a very painful lesson. ... show more

Terrible terrible product. Could not be activated. Opened a support case and spent a month chasing support for updates. Finally told to return the product to a local dealer for repair. Dealer doesnt fix self balancing products. So need to disassemble the unit to return to Segway. Once the steering bar is installed it cannot be removed. So I have disputed the charge with American Express and will get a refund. I strongly strongly recommend NOT purchasing this product. ... show more
