Top Amazon Reviews

  • An honest review from an audio snob
I was skeptical, but these speakers are pretty solid. Details below: PACKAGING That one reviewer's point about the packaging protecting the tweeters - the packaging isn't terrible. It's decent, but he/she is right - the tweeters need some sort of protection so they don't get damaged, especially when you're removing the speakers from the foam. Also, don't bump the tweeters, they are extremely fragile - that should go without saying. THE BEATS EFFECT Are Beats headphones good enough for you? Do you have $500? Buy this and plug it in and you'll be blown away. You can play with the THX, Dolby or custom equalizer settings in the Razer app if you'd like but you probably won't care enough. Are Beats headphones garbage to you? Are you a gamer? Do you have $500? Would you prefer to spend less than $1000+ on a new sound system? Do you prefer to have a 2-speaker desk setup and/or don't want to have speakers behind you that you may accidentally knock over with your chair or body or whatever? These are a really great choice. The first thing you'll want to do is go into the equalizer settings in the Razer app and change the equalizer to custom - and set all the frequency ranges to 0 (although for some reason, during one of the patches, they now save to all 1s... weird). Anyhow, do that. THX and DD (but especially THX) heavily modify the sound and any music with a significant presence of mids and especially highs will infinitely significantly better. It's extremely tangible in gaming and in music like Queen. Also, make sure the bass boost isn't too high for your tastes, unless you want to rattle picture frames. VOLUME These speakers get quite loud. No need to worry there. That goes double for the subwoofer. And the subwoofer is big and powerful. WARMTH If you don't know what warm sound is, skip this point. If you do, after normalizing the frequency volumes and turning down the bass boost in the Razer app, these speakers will lose their warm sound. They're not quite as neutral or even cold as electrostats, but they're definitely colder than more expensive Bowers & Wilkins. The sound is crisp. A lot of the uber-mainstream garbage pop/rap and (for those of you who are older than 30) your older 128-bitrate mp3s from the mid-late 90s don't sound particularly great. Shower singing sounds pretty good until you remove the shower. DESIGN It's nice and pretty. And, it's is less obnoxious than some of Razer's other offerings. OTHER THOUGHTS I use After Effects and Premiere for video editing and motion graphics. I find wearing headphone cans for a long period of time tiring. These speakers (assuming you balanced the equalizer like I mentioned above) are actually pretty decent for it - more than you'd expect. It's now been several months and I decided to do a written review here. I'm really quite happy with my purchase - because I was worried when I pulled the trigger. Assuming you don't dent your tweeters, I bet you'll be quite content with this product. ... show more

  • This is probably what your looking for but at a steep price
Ok so I previously had the Logitech G560 although I loved the RGB on it the quality was horrible in my opinion so returned it. My buddy has some Bose companion 3 series 2 speaker with a sub woofer and man did it rock but they don't make those anymore. I was looking for something with a clear sound and a hard bass that kicks loud! I love bass and these speakers bass is amazing it really gives you the kick your probably looking for and I really am satisfied with the quality of the sound. I put it up about 25% and sounds loud being able to adjust the bass is great and it really gets loud and feels like the Bose sub woofer my friend has and sounds louder and stronger. These will probably get the police called to your house and bother your neighbors which is great. I was going to return these speakers cuz they are so expensive but I fell in love with them and keeping them. I can finally listen to music and enjoy while using my PC as these speakers are strictly for my PC. The downside I would say is that these speakers are stupid expensive and would be good if they cost around 350-400 but hey no regrets this is exactly what I was looking for. I enjoy them and playing games loud explosions sound great as well as gun shot makes gaming experience so much more fun and makes everything more fun. The RGB i will have to say is pretty horrible and super dim but at least it has lights and when dark they are noticeable but very minimal. Another complain is that they are quite large and would be nice if they were more compact but with same sound quality. The subwoofer is large but thats fine cuz I love bass and these sure satisfy but at a steep price. Enjoy pick these bad boys up I recommend it if you got cash to blow on PC speakers. ... show more

  • UPDATE - Good speakers, not great for wide or standing desks
Update: After rearranging my desk in order to make the short speaker wires work, one of the pins in left speaker connection got bent after trying to reinstall it. When I tried to straighten it with the mechanical pencil trick, it broke. Oh and the cables are hard wired into the back of the speakers, so there's no spare part to buy.. I'll skip the whole infuriating discussion with Razer support and just highlight the response they gave me below. Thankfully I'm still within my return window and am getting rid of these as fast as possible! My desk is covered in Razer gear, but after this experience, I'm avoiding them like the plague. I expected more after spending this much on a set of speakers. Razer support response: We would need to raise this one to our team since based on what you've mentioned the pin got broken after you have plugged the plug from the base. This is to check if we can still proceed with submitting for a replacement request since it seems that the cause of damage is already beyond the terms and conditions of our limited warranty policy. Original review: Speakers are great, plays well with my other Razer stuff, controls are great. My big problem and why I am writing this review is because the speaker cables are very short and have to plug in to a huge subwoofer. Most logically that sub would be on the floor. So if you have a standing desk: problem. If you have a wide desk And want the speakers on the outside edges: problem. I have both and now have two options: 1) don't use the standing position of my desk, or 2) put the sub on top of my desk. I reached out to razer support and asked if they had extensions available, but they told me no. Kind of short sighted for a $500 pair of speakers. ... show more
