    • Good for 6 months, then earpiece volume dropped off
Bought to replace my 10-year-old, $30 Plantronics M50 for work calls. Right away, the receive sound quality had far better clarity, and the mic quality was maybe just a touch better than the M50. This has been my everyday work-from-home earpiece for the last 6 months. The battery life is amazing. I can hear clearly, and my coworkers never complain that I'm hard to hear--even when speaking quietly. If there's one downside at all, it's has a sub-second delay, but I'm inclined to think that's just an inherent part of bluetooth buffering. Fast-forward to yesterday--that has changed. I stuck this thing in my (very loose) coat pocket during a visit to the office. When I took it out to get on another call, the volume had become much lower, even at max volume, in additional to a new crackling sound. I tried hard-resetting, unpairing, restarting my phone, all of it. I believe something has broken internally. I bought this on sale for $60. At that price it might be worth rolling the dice, but for $100 I must recommend against this model. I will be seeing about a warranty replacement through BlueParrott, likely as a backup earpiece. My new Plantronics 5200 will be at my door within the next hour. ... show more

    • Great product but reliability issues (not built to last?)
Pros: - Mic has excellent ambient noise suppression. Great to use on the road or in busy rooms. That's the feature I like the most. It's 10X better than the ambient noise suppression from Jabra's regular wireless earbuds. - Pretty comfortable to wear. Cons: - Reliability issues. My first BlueParrot became unusable after a couple of months because the sound was down to a whisper. They did honor the warranty and sent me a new one free of charge, which I do think is admirable customer service. - The BlueParrot button is a hassle to use. - No way to wear this without looking like you are trying to sell penny stocks to unsuspecting investors Wolf-of-Wall-Street-style I'll see if the new one I received lasts more than a couple of months. Given my experience, I think I'd recommend trying a different brand. I've had reliability issues with every Jabra product I've bought. It's not that they completely break down, but they start breaking down a couple of months after purchase and then last a long time as a half-usable product.     • Works well as a call headset, really poor as a media earpiece.
Despite support specified for AVRCP v1.6 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), the M300-XT does not provide any mechanism for even v1.0 media control methods (basic remote control commands such as play/pause/stop, etc.), let alone 1.6's browsing data and track information extensions. The M300-XT's specifications specifically cite A2DB v1.3 and AVCRCP v1.6, which implies the M300-XT would be a functional media earphone as well as a call headset. Streaming audio does work well but controlling audio, not so much. Actually, not at all. One would expect the programmable "BlueParrott Button™" would at least be configurable to play/pause music, but no... that would be wrong, no even with the app installed. I kept trying to skip ahead with the volume up button - standard UI/UX is long press for 2nd function. No, no such thing. I'm not sure how they can claim AVRCP support without any control affordance at all. It is disappointing too, as I find the headset very comfortable. The on-ear pad provides good sound quality and acceptable volume, even in a car with the window down, while still yielding functional stereo situational awareness and all-day comfort. The battery life is great. No complaints on audio quality either listening or speaking, it's better sounding than some media headsets and the voice quality outbound is pretty close to wired boom-mic headsets. I had hoped this would be an all-day companion for both causal audio (podcasts or music) and a conference call grade headset. It is the latter, but definitely not the former. The Plantronics Voyager 5200 specifically supports play/pause both with the call button and by the "smart sensors" and so might be worth considering for a general purpose headset. Dear BlueParrott, the physical buttons are on the headset, you at least claim to support the AVRCP protocol, so update the firmware to send play/pause on BPB press during media playback, skip forward on vol-up long press, next track on vol-up double press, skip back on vol down long press, and prev track on vol down double press. ... show more

    • Was expecting something better
Got this to replace my old HP bluetooth headset that is well over 10 years old. Pros: - Battery life - Holy crap this thing lasts a long time on a full charge. Not sure how many hours, but I can go over a week and it was only down to 50% Cons: - Fit (over the ear) - I don't know if it is adjustable or not, but when I put it over my ear, it wobbles a lot. It hasn't fallen off yet, but I am constantly trying to adjust it. - Fit (In the ear) - Probably due to the fact that it is not fitting over the ear very well, it is also not staying in my ear. This causes me to have to hold it in my ear canal if I am walking in order to hear whatever I am listening to. - Connectivity - It is much slower than all the other ear pieces I have had. When I try to hands free text or call, I need to wait almost 5 seconds before I can start speaking or the phone does not pick up what I am saying those seconds. - Sound quality - Probably pretty good, but I cannot tell because it doesn't sit in my ear well Overall, kind of disappointed with my earpiece upgrade. ... show more
