Professional Bus Operators - this is the one we've waited for!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I am presently in the charter bus industry. I run a Garmin Dezl 760. I use the RV setting as the truck setting takes me around the horn. I ordered the Rand McNally TND 720 from Amazon last June. I ran six over the road trips with it and then returned it to Amazon. I thought it was junk. That was the 720. This is the 730 - and it is just what the doctor ordered. The bus setting works as I need it to. Height, weight, axles, etc. All info is reliable. And you cannot beat the bevy of info you can opt to have on the screen! Last week I ran the Garmin unit in tandem with the TND 730. No contest! The 730 beat the pants off the Garmin. I recommend this GPS for all Professional Bus Operators who need one. The only deficiency is in the mounting hardware. There is no quick release like Garmin's 760 supplies. Getting the Rand off the bracket without taking the suction cup off the window is damn near impossible. That means you have to take the whole thing down at every stop where theft is a concern. Garmin made it so very simple. Fix that and my rating goes to five stars.

From amateur to professional this works
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Luv this GPS. I've owned the older 710 & 720 models which did a great job for me but this one is nicer by a good bit. The power plug is far better than 710. The processor is way faster than both older models. The HD display is sweet. You can use a backup camera but you'll have to tap an icon on screen to turn it on when a camera is plugged in. I use this in my big rig and never wanna be with out it. Its also lighter than older models too. This unit has also been accepted as an EOBR when used with an additional piece of equipment that connects it to the ECM of your rig. No further comment about that at this time. Tells current weather and fuel prices when connected to Wi-Fi. Traffic is available but requires a paid subscription. Too much to talk about here so I recommend going to Rand McNally's website to read more...plus Google it and read other reviews. No complaints here for now.

I felt the need to get the best available tools to help me with my new profession. This isn't it.
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
As a new trucker but not a new GPS user, I felt the need to get the best available tools to help me with my new profession. I've owned a Garmin for well over 10 years for my car and it has worked flawlessly since day one. My new Rand McNally however has been a huge disappointment. Before buying it I did my research, carefully reading reviews from every source I could find and comparing it to other units from R/M and other manufacturers. Yes, a lot of people had problems with them and I bought it knowing this, but overall I felt it was worth the risk and I was wrong. Here are the problems I've had since buying the unit 4 months ago. 1. Turning it on. No big deal right? Wrong. Every morning something new happens. Either it simply doesn't turn on and I have to push a ball point pen into the reset button on the back, or it takes about 10 minutes to boot up. Sometimes it just locks up while starting and I have to reset it, and many days when I do finally get it to start up, the GPS signal isn't working and I have to power it on and off several times until it works. Getting the damn GPS going every day takes more time than my pretrip on the truck. 2. This isn't a problem I've seen mentioned before. A couple days after I began using it, a black verticle line appeared across the center of the screen. As the days progressed the line got thicker until it became a black "dead" zone on the screen which remains there to this day. An irritation because the line goes through some of the pop-up warning boxes and I can't read the text, and it will block me from seeing an address in my stored data. 3. Most days I drive 11 hours all over the US. On average, my GPS restarts 4 times a day. Each time it does it thinks that it's starting the day over and resets all of the timers. The most frustrating problem with it restarting is that every week or two it will lose all of my stored data including the current destination and addresses, and I have to key in my destination address while driving and that's not something I enjoy doing. Sometimes it will only lose "some" of the stored data like my route preferences. Yesterday I was driving from Yuma AZ to northern California, and passing through LA on a Friday night during rush hour. My unit did a restart about an hour before getting into LA and I didn't realize it until I was in complete gridlock that my route parameters had been wiped out. I couldn't understand why it was going deeper into the heart of LA when I should have been going around it. By the time I decided to check the parameters and adjust them, it was too late and I lost 3 hours stuck in traffic that I should have never been in to begin with 4. The unit also freezes up while I am driving and I have to pull over to reset the unitl. I feel like a beta tester for a new video game. I've downloaded all of the patches and updates and this unit still is loaded with software bugs.It should have never been released without futher testing on the software. I'm saving my money to buy the best Garmin unit available very soon, and will have this one repaired and keep it as a spare or sell it. If I had it to do over again I WOULD NOT have purchsed the Rand McNally GPS system.

Im a truck driver and i approve this GPS!!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I needed a GPS I knew I could trust but was trucker safe and friendly, this GPS CAN WORK WITH A CAR! you can put your tractor trailers dimensions, loaded and empty weight if your hauling hazmat and will route you safely but double check the road atlas to be sure and check for road signs, you can disable the truck features so you can use it with your car I can go on and on about the awesome features it has the only thing is DONT BUY IT AT A TRUCK STOP!!! It cost $400 at a truck stop but $300 after mail in rebate.... or buy it here and not go thru the hassle of it overall rand McNally is one of THE BEST GPS on the market but rand McNally customer service is top notch I'm really happy with it

It's good in all aspects of navigation
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
It's good in all aspects of navigation, compliments my motor carriers atlas. Navigation voice to be desired, continuity between features a little rough. Used this with passenger buses, various tractors with 53' enclosed trailer, tanker, low boy, drop deck, and few oversized loads one load was 14'9" in height, another load 11' 7" width and other road restriction type loads. Took me where I needed legally (with atlas to back it up, always refer to atlas). This unit needs to be plugged into the power port at all times. It tried to have me go over a bridge (newly added weight restrictions), I understand the map is not quick to be updated but I was able to have the GPS unit detour me at the last minute with a few minutes of editing on the GPS unit. I travel to various military bases through out the states it will get you to majority of truck gates, some bases not so much so watch your signs and communicate with the POC for base/gate directions. Over all, I recommend this unit.
