Description

    • Wow -- What a difference $2700 makes...
This is my 4th personal 3d printer and probably about the 10th one I've used. It's the first one I've used over the $2500 mark and the previous ones I used over the $1000 mark were early FDM days and would sell for under $300 today. The most recent printer before this was my first dual extruder, a Qidi X-Pro (I'll review it soon). This is my second dual-extruder printer and compared to all of the less expensive units, the difference is night and day. From arrival to first test print (which was successful out of the box) was less than an hour. The instructions, packaging, and hardware are all high quality. After ordering and before receiving the printer, I reached out to support with a few questions and they not only answered the questions and pointed me to the on-line documentation library (all very high quality well prepared clear documentation, btw), but also proactively sent me some additional information and tips that proved very useful. First print came out good and much faster than pervious printers. The UI guides you through the whole process (literally you could pull the thing out of the box, plug it in, and follow the on-screen directions for everything else). After the first print, the calibration process (dual extruder alignment, precision bed level mapping, etc.) took about an hour. That ended with a test print of a two-color cube in the supplied red and white PLA which came out perfect on the first try. I'm now about half way through my first print of one of my own STL files which never succeeded on the other printer and it's not only coming out fabulous on the Raise3d, but doing so without any fiddling or special slicer tactics and the IDEX has it printing 8 copies (4 in each color) in half the time because the two colors print simultaneously. Where the less expensive printers leave you feeling like the printer itself is more of a prototype, this one screams quality polished product. ... show more

Had so many issues with this thing, where to start... Don’t think just because this thing is $3500+ that even THEIR OWN PLA will print fine, I had so many adhesion problems, it ruined the first 2 jobs I tried, so I bought the Raise3D adhesion liquid at almost $60 for 6 ounces, now no more lifting but the job seems to print ok first 5 hours or so, , no lifting whatsoever but we come back in the morning and the parts are scattered everywhere like the extruders went bowling with my parts, so far over 70% failure rate unless you print « test » pieces like a simple square, tech support claiming it’s still adhesion problem even though parts were 1/2 tall and securely stuck to platform when we left, asked for a refund because at this point I have 0 confidence in this machine but tech support seems wants me to run test pieces after test pieces even though it obviously is an extruder going bowling issue, not an adhesion issue. UPDATE, found out that if you buy on here, you are apparently forfeiting your raise3d support, you are not actually buying from raise3d but a third party company. Here is the kicker, we brought up the issue to raise3d within 2 weeks of receiving it, they have now dragged us through two months of "try this" then "try that" and now, 2.5 months after i originally bought it and now that they cant figure out why it is crashing, their answer is "it has been too long since i bought the printer so they will NOT take the defective printer back as I ONLY HAVE 1 MONTH FROM TIME OF PURCHASE TO ASK FOR A RETURN!!! THEY TOLD ME STRAIGHT UP THEY WILL NOT TAKE THAT MACHINE BACK AFTER THEY EVEN Disappointed does not begin to describe it, my $190 3D printer had a much higher success rate, as bad I thought it was, had a much higher success rate than this. so here i am stuck with a 2 months old printer raise3d refuses to take back or even take back to fix so buyer beware my friends! ... show more

    • Great prints. Print bed is a joke
I've been using this printer for almost one year. The print quality is amazing, there are very few hiccups during printing, and the filter makes printing smelly filaments much more pleasant. (I made an adapter and have a hose venting the fumes out my window) This is a 6-star printer, except for the following: When removing hotter prints, the Buildtak sheet will pull away from the metal build plate and it will form permanent creases and bubbles. Replacement sheets are an overpriced joke ($50) and if you're not super careful at replacing it, it will just bubble from the start. Raise3D put a lot of thought into this printer. The fact that the build plate sucks so much is surprising. I would not buy any printer with this issue, especially at this high price point. ... show more

Running my first print on this machine. Writing a review of setup. Ease of setup pretty easy overall, I do consider myself an intermediate level user. Instructions were easy to follow and test prints came out flawless. Bed leveling was very easy, they included a gauge to help.
