  • Great value, the prints are consistent and high quality. Filament box is very useful.
Size: Q2C Combo
This Q2C combo is GREAT! My son and I are having a blast with it. We really appreciate the leap forward in speed and functionality vs. our still-working Makerbot Replicator Z18. We've found the print quality to be excellent; the tools are great. Qidi Studio (the slicer software + communications software that talks to the printer) is versatile, and can even manipulate the models before they're printed. One thing we should have researched more was the difference between Q2 and Q2C printers - With Q2C, you don't get a camera to be able to monitor your prints from the app, you don't get a chamber heater (which is key to getting non-warped prints with some of the "engineering" filaments, you don't get a carbide hardened nozzle. All of those things can be added afterwards when you might need them. The 4-reel filament box seemed excessive when we ordered it, but what a convenience! Having a library of filament on tap for prints is great. We are still exploring what it can do to help us, like using dissolving filament types for support layers. ... show more

  • Printer is Nice, Setup Not So Nice.
Size: Q2C Combo
Edited Review: After a full 2 weeks of problems with setup (see all the struggles further below), the unit is finally running. It took more than a week of working with customer service. They did send me a working hub, which is great. They also shared with me that you MUST install the riser and path the tubing through the riser on your Q2C if you use the AMS BOX (even if the BOX doesn't sit directly on top of the Q2C). I thought the riser was to accommodate sitting it on the unit and being able to slide the glass. My BOX sits separately. So after receiving the working hub and installing the riser, I finally have a working unit. After first test, my color prints came out great. No noticeable stringing, supports came off easily, and overall, the prints look to be of great quality. Note: the unit expects you to connect it to your PC/network to sync, and I want it to remain offline. So I had some issues getting the right colors to print for the selected sections. I had expected that having the right colors in each section of the AMS BOX (1A- 1D), and selecting colors (1-4) in the same order from QIDI's slicer app, that the output would match. I had to do some trial and error on the filament selection tool after I started the print, but I finally got it to print correctly. Summary: the printer works well, if you can get it setup correctly. Parts are very delicate, and customer service can be frustrating even when you describe and share pictures. It can take a lot of back and forth to get your issue resolved. First Review Below: WOW, this purchase has been terrible. I was extremely excited to receive my Q2C Combo. It arrived quickly, and packaged well, but the good part stops there. 1st situation: I immediately began unpacking the printer and the QIDI BOX (AMS multi-color feed system). Things were going well until the step about unscrewing four screws on the heated bed fastener and waiting for the platform to rise. ****Please note that the platform WILL NOT rise on its own.**** I thought it was some sort of pressured system where the platform would rise after removal of the screws. That is not the case. You need the platform to rise so you can take the foam pad out from under the platform. The book of instructions does NOT describe this part, but you are supposed to at that point, power up the unit, and follow the steps. The platform rises after the unit is powered, but there is nothing in the written instructions about this at all. With that, I took out 4 MORE screws along the platform thinking I had taken out the wrong screws, and it took me forever to get those back in. So yes, only take out the 4 screws, and THEN turn the unit on and follow the steps. 2nd situation: the booklet also does NOT tell you that there are plastic pieces that have to come off the top of the lead screws that allow the platform to lower/raise. Please make sure you do that. I only knew because at this point I started watching a youtube video from a user. It also does not tell you to remove the foam and such from the back left corner of the printer at the top (but I saw that and knew it needed to come out). There are somewhat better instructions when you boot up the machine, but you don't know that you should boot up the machine for that because there are written instructions. As with most electronics, you should read those FIRST and install items FIRST before you boot up. Not the case here. 3rd situation: So now, after I have gotten everything all hooked up, Printer, BOX HUB, BOX AMS, I start my first time trying to feed filament into the system. Things seem to be going great, but then I had some feed issues and an error (QDE_004_006). I figured being new to this style of machine (never owned or used multi color printing), that it was user error. Kept tinkering with things until I finally got all 4 filaments to feed. Now we're off to print, right? NOPE. I start up my print gcode. At this point, the filament is supposed to feed through the hub, into the printer, and to the printhead/nozzle. WELL......it goes through the hub successfully, and to the printer successfully, but STOPS before it gets to the PTFE tube that feeds the printhead. So we never print, sadly. Keep trying this process repeatedly, but I get various errors. At this point I contact QIDI Tech Support and start asking some questions. While I wait on that, I decided to try to do more troubleshooting. I saw that there were ever so slight bends in the PTFE tubing that leads to the hub (which connects the 4 color filaments to the printer). I straightened those out, and also unfed the filament, trying to make sure it was cut well for all 4 pieces with no bends or notches anywhere. I then took the PTFE tube from the top port of the hub (this is where 1 color goes through the tube to the printer for print time), just to be sure everything was seated correctly. When I took the tube out, I heard something pop off. I didn't see what it was, or where it went. When I tried to reconnect the PTFE tube to that port, it wouldn't stay seated. I have no clue what was on there before, so then at this point, I've basically stalled. So QIDI Tech Support and I have had a few chats now. The responses have been thoroughly unhelpful. They don't seem to be reading the questions, they see some key words, and then tag on various "somewhat" related videos, that don't solve for my problem. Checking the print head is useless because THE FILAMENT NEVER GETS THERE. Checking for the blue light in the HUB is useless because I CAN'T USE THE HUB BECAUSE THE TUBE WON"T STAY IN. At this point, I'm pretty frustrated. This isn't my first time using a 3d printer. I'm not an expert, but I'm also not a newbie. I assembled my previous one that actually required far more technical assembly than this (this unit should have been mostly plug in play with good instructions), and that one worked great (and still works). However, I wanted a unit that could do multi-color, but...here we are. I've seen a lot of people rave about how good this unit is. It very well might be, but I haven't even had a chance to get to that point. So buyers, hopefully, you don't have similar issues. Just be aware that the QIDI unit is very sensitive to any bends in tubing AND is sensitive to filament notches/bends, and also needs to have a very sharp straight cut on the filament end for it to even ATTEMPT to work. Also, before you even open the package, please go check out unboxing videos from users on youtube. Do NOT waste your time reading that booklet first. It can perhaps help as a supplement. I'm 3 days into tech support without a SINGLE answer. I've bought another HUB on Amazon with hopes that I can use that one and get back working again. However, it will be about 2 weeks before I'll have that. ... show more

  • Excellent entry-level printer with top-notch customer service. Excellent entry-level printer with top-notch customer service.
Size: Q2C Combo
Outstanding “entry-level” printer that is so user-friendly. The enclosure makes printing some of the exotic filaments possible, and the interface is clean and simple to use. I like the larger build area. Everything about the Q2C makes it feel more polished. And QIDI support has been incredible whenever I’ve had questions. No regrets getting this printer—it’s been a real joy for me and my daughter. ... show more
