  • From QIDI Q2 to MAX4: Bigger Builds, Same Amazing Quality
Size: MAX4 Combo
I previously owned the QIDI Q2 and absolutely loved it, so I already had a lot of confidence in QIDI’s printers. When I saw that the MAX4 offered a much larger build size, it made perfect sense to pick one up for bigger projects and larger prints. What stands out the most is how incredibly well it handles detailed prints, especially figures. The level of precision and consistency it delivers makes a huge difference when working on models where fine detail really matters. Another thing I really appreciate is how seamless everything feels. From setup to everyday use, the printer just works without constant tweaking or troubleshooting. The interface is intuitive, and the overall workflow is smooth, which makes it easy to focus on creating rather than fixing issues. Overall, the MAX4 has been reliable, high-quality, and surprisingly user-friendly for such a capable machine. If you’re into printing detailed figures or want the flexibility to handle larger builds without sacrificing quality, this one is definitely worth it. ... show more

  • Must have for high volume engineering filament use
Size: MAX4 Combo
Uses: Primarily PPA-CF and ABS-CF for aerial drone applications. Pros: Outstanding print quality. Handles engineering filaments like butter. The value is insane with what this machine does. Almost 100% open source. Dedicated slicer (QidiStudio), but still compatible with other slicers. Clean, user friendly operation. Cons: Pre-print start time is lengthy, but of course it is, the machine is massive. High filament purge amounts, but it's open source so that's easily remedied. Software and UI is a bit choppy, but Qidi engineering is actively improving its products. Initial power consumption is high, but it levels out once printing is active. This can be mitigated by throttling start times for high energy demand projects (Preheating the bed, using nozzle temp and bed temp to reach chamber temp, etc). Full disclosure: I received my machine with a warped bed. However, I had a new one in a couple of weeks and swapped it in a couple of hours. This is where Qidi really shines. Having the right to repair is a vanishing privilege in 3D printing spaces. 3D printers are complex machines, and having a mostly open source machine with easily sourced parts, where the company's support team actively engages its customers and GUIDES them through repairs, that is imho, the most valuable asset Qidi has. I also own a Q2 combo, several hundred hours so far. The Max4 is a welcome addition to our growing print lab. And I can't stress enough how problem solving and tinkering are a huge part of 3D printing. Maintenance and care is necessary to keep your machine running well. So, If you need/want a powerful, large, reliable machine that can crank out some quality prints, you found your new favorite toy. ... show more

  • Easy set up, great quality.
Size: MAX4 Combo
UPDATE. I still give this a 5 syar. Ive been printing woth it for a while now, 700 hours or so. I have had minimal issues and they were settled quickly and efficiently by CS. Id like to call out Linda. She was very helpful and pleasent with my camera issue. She got me the right infor to get it working again without needing parts. This company has been nothing but spot on as have their printers This a huge and excellent machine. Aside from the size, set up is easy. Even someone with no experience should have no issues. Follow the on screen prompts on the machine and it walks you through everything. Build quality is excellent. Little details and quality of life features in everything from a proper driver to remove packing screws to the status bar led in the base of the build plate. This machine is well thought out and also just plain looks good. The Qidi Box is easy to hook up as well. No issues there. First prints out of the box (waste chute and bin) with generic PETG settings came out fantastic. I am looking forward to doing large multi color prints in all materials. This thing is a beast in all the best ways. LOVE IT. This is my second try at leaving a review. Not sure if the first one went through or not. If I end up with two on here, sorry. ... show more

  • Prints stuff out extremely well, but not without it's flaws
Size: MAX4 Combo
First off this thing is very worth it if you can spare the budget (and can lift it.) Assembly is basically non existent as it's plug and play. although it has its flaws. Firstly the toolhead sensor is very temperamental to location. You need the machine tilted backwards slightly or otherwise you get false triggers. My advice, put it where you want it, take the front cover off, and power it on. Then move the toolhead over the poop chute, if it stays lit up after moving it over there at various speeds, you're golden. Edit to issue 1: I lost the spring to that sensor, so disregard location issues. Second, the filament can get stuck in the tangle sensor and the boxes sometimes. Don't print with brittle filament in the MMUs; fiber-filled stuff works very well thankfully. Third, the gears in the MMUs can shred into filament if there's a blockage at all preventing a sensor from tripping. ... show more

  • Great Printer
Size: MAX4 Combo
The QIDI Max 4 has delivered very good print quality overall. Once everything was working correctly, the printer handled long prints reliably and produced consistent quality across different materials. So far I have printed PLA, PETG, and ASA all printed flawlessly with excellent quality. However, I did experience some setup and software-related issues initially. When the printer first arrived, it had a poor Wi-Fi connection and faulted during the update process without displaying an error message. After attaching and updating the Qidi Box, I started experiencing MCU Connection errors that caused random failures during longer prints. The error popped up with a QR code to diagnose the issue, which stated that it was most likely a cable issue. luckily II had a second box which i attached and more MCU errors arose. Fortunately, I was able to find a post that someone had the same issue and it was due to a firmware mismatch. After updating the firmware again the MCU errors went away. The printer produces great results, although there are still software/connectivity issues. Qidi studio will not stay connected nor will the Qidi Maker app. which definitely needs improvement and the printers software needs better error handling. That said, the actual print performance and print quality are excellent, and overall I’m very pleased with this printer. With this being a new machine I am sure there will be updates that will address these issues. When I first got my Q2 it had similar initial issues but once resolved it has run for 12-16hrs a day for the last 4 months without any problems. ... show more

  • QiDi 4 Max - No fuss printing with great features
Size: MAX4 Combo
I’ve been using the QiDi 4 Max 3D Printer with the 4 color combo box, and it’s been an excellent experience overall. Print quality is outstanding. Layer lines are clean, details are sharp, and results look professional with minimal tuning. Speed is equally impressive, delivering fast prints without sacrificing quality, which makes larger or multi part projects much more efficient. The large build volume is one of the biggest advantages. Not being limited by size feels incredibly freeing and makes it easy to take on bigger projects without splitting models. Compared my previous print, the Prusa i3 MK2, the build quality here feels much more solid. I was nervous the print quality would not be able to match the Prusa but I am happy report it is just as good if not better. The features and enclosed printing are above and beyond what I expected for a printer in this price range, and the ability to reach high temperatures opens the door to high strength materials, making it an engineer’s dream. The 4 color combo box adds great flexibility for multi color prints without making things overly complicated. Overall, this setup delivers an excellent balance of speed, quality, and capability at a fantastic cost point. I would not hesitate to purchase this printer again ... show more

  • Bigger and Better
Size: MAX4 Combo
This printer has been absolutely awesome! I also have a Qidi Plus 4 and have absolutely loved it, but the Max4 is as if they took all the suggestions for improvement on the plus 4 and added them to the Max 4. Its bigger and better and its been flawless so far! Been printing everything from pla to ppa-cf on it and its been amazing! First layers have been absolutely perfect and I dont even have to question if the print is going to come out flawless or not, it just puts in work print after print. Really glad I decided to get the Max4 and im excited to continue printing on it! If you're questioning getting one, absolutely get yourself one! Here's some pictures of different things i printed on it ... show more

  • The BEST LARGE FORMAT enclosed printer!!
Size: MAX4 Combo
Waited almost 2 months for this printer to arrive and it is well worth it! The quality of the machine and the ease of setting it up was easier than any other printer ive setup before. Beware though, it is HEAVY!!! Do not attempt to lift by yourself. Make sure to update the firmware immediately upon installation before you even try doing a test print. The firmware fixed a lot of bugs that were still present being that it is a new release. I own one other qidi machine (x-plus first generation) that I purchased 5 years ago from here on Amazon and its still printing with no problems to this day. I cant say enough about how helpful the support team over at qidi is if you have any type of question or troubleshooting situation. Will continue to buy qidi products. ... show more
