I have bought now 3 of these total.. my first one was fantastic!! it was exactly as expected and easy to put together. I got the 16x12' version which did need 2 people to stand up but very easy. The first one we bought was perfect.. and the right pieces and parts, all fit together exactly as instructed, it even came with 1 of every part as a spare just in case. The Second i bought actually had a broken plastic piece, when i contacted the customer services they asked for a picture and one i sent it they sent me out not 1 but 2 of the damaged item at no cost to me. FANTASTIC. My 3rd one was kind of an oddity, the poles were a little to long (easy trim) and about 2 months after one fo the rollers broke. I contacted them again expecting to have to buy replacment parts. They simply asked for the part number and again at no cost to me shipped out a full set of rollers. I cant say enough good about this product and company, i have my first one going on 3 years now and it still looks like new!!! the other 2 i expect to last about the same. High quality, Easy to setup, Great customer service.. Not something i can say about many products these days.

This pergola is fundamentally flawed and should not be sold as an outdoor product. I followed all instructions precisely, including keeping the canopy closed and strapped during rain. Yet every time it rains—even lightly—the canvas pools water and causes the poles to detach. This makes the entire structure unstable and dangerous. I reached out to the seller in good faith and installed the replacement parts they sent. The same issue happened again after the next rainstorm. Their proposed “solution” was to glue pieces together and *buy a separate PVC panel* to prevent collapse. That is completely unacceptable for a product at this price point. I’ve repeatedly requested a refund, but instead of taking accountability, they offered a 6% discount and more DIY fixes. I’ve spent enough time on ladders reattaching parts. This product is defective by design, and the seller refuses to stand behind it. **Avoid this pergola. It is unsafe, unreliable, and not worth your time or money.**

Item arrived in 2 packages, early by several days. We had an old pergola to remove that was a 8x10, and did not ever fit our patio. This 12x16 took me about an hour to build the posts and get prepped. The install took me another 45 mins or so, doing it solo. We were missing the item Z from the parts bag. However, the company rushed a replacement to us within days! I have shared images with neighbors and directed them to this brand as many who have seen it, love the construction, the adjustability and easy of installation. Not to mention the cost compared to other similar. We live in Northern KY, we do get hefty winds, but our old pergola was not as sturdy as this one and it last 5 years and has been handed down to a family member for continued use!!

I would not buy this again. Very disappointing product for the cost. There were several dents in the support post. Since we had already spent a lot of time assembling, we decided it was not worth the effort or time to order new parts or return it. The instructions were terrible.. Hard to follow. The construction is flimsy and I don't think it will hold up in strong winds. You cannot use this in the rain. The canopy fills up with water. This should have been designed so the water runs off. Even when the canopy is pulled back, it still filled up with water. UPDATE: the company responded regarding the damage pieces and gave us a 20% discount since we had already put the pergola together.

It took my wife (age 76) and I (Age 77) about 8 hours to assemble this Pergola. Probably should have waited until the grandchildren came over but we wanted to see if we could do it. Anyway, It is a really nice pergola and satisfies our needs. The instructions could be better. A lot better. So read them several times before attempting to assemble it. Rather than attach the pergola legs to our paver patio we installed the legs into concrete planters using Tapcon screws and filled the planters with pea gravel for support. I read that another commenter used Post Bases (similar to these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGXT52DG/?coliid=IHJ7BTZKUL83I&colid=QNZWRZUP1YVJ&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1). I wish I had known about this as I feel it would make the unit more sturdy. However, our pergola held up well during recent storms. Overall we really like this pergola and hope that it gives us many years of service. There are a few cons I should mention. The cover for the Pergola is supposed to lock into 2 clips when extended. The clips we got are not flexible and it takes a lot of pressure to have the catch the cover. I am going to try putting magnets on the pergola frame rather than use the clips. Also, the cover has a strap attached to slide the cover open and closed. It works but it is annoying to have a strap hanging. I am going to add a metal ring to the cover and make a pole with a hook to open and close the cover. I can hide the pole when not in use. Another issue is if it rains when the cover is open the cover collects water which puts stress on the cover rods. We made a waterproof cover for the pergola cover to keep the rain out. Finally, when the cover is open any wind will move the cover. This fix - bungee cord the cover to the frame. Overall this is a great buy and with minor fixes is even better. I should mention that the customer service is 5 star. I had an issue with one part and customer service responded within a few hours and the issue got resolved. This is a first class company

We quite enjoy this pergola so far! It blends well with the style and color of our home. It was relatively easy to assemble (you will need two people); took about 2 hours. Had a small problem with the tarp cover but the seller rectified that with no issue. Definitely recommend for this price range.

Wanted to go through a couple seasons before reviewing. Still standing, but overall, the material is on the thinner side, and the poles holding the shade come apart and don't hold well to sliders. Don't expect to keep the shade open during winds and closed during rains (won't drain and water stays in the folds). For the price, it is OK, but I wouldn't recommend. If I had the choice again, spend the extra money. I will probably get a better one and scrap this one.

Excellent product! It was easy to assemble, definitely it is a job for two people but instruction manual was relatively clear. As I expected one challenge was to secure posts to the concrete floor but I purchased a special bit for concrete and used expansion bolts suggested by manual so it worked fine. Other than securing posts the rest of installation was like "walk in the park", my wife and I finished installation in one day. Their Customer Service is perfect! During installation I noticed few missing plastic plugs, nothing critical. So I sent email to manufacturer on Saturday expecting to receive a response the earliest Monday - Tuesday. But I received a response almost instantly with assurances that the missing parts will be shipped immediately. What I also love about this product that it is very sturdy and solidly built while doesn't look heavy at all. I was worry that my 12' x 16' pergola would look like heavy structural frame in my backyard but Purple Leaf pergola doesn't look heavy and didn't overpower my backyard. I am definitely go for 5 stars.
