Gets Warm
Color: Space Grey
Made of quality aluminum and awesome aesthetics. I prefer this design, over the hubs that use a USB type C cord for connection. The fit is almost perfect, however, (1) the Purgo hub sits about 2mm higher than the surface of the laptop, when plugged in. (2) The Purgo hub covers up the MafSafe charging port. (3) And, I noticed that the hub got warm while it was plugged without being in use. It is a nice accessory to have, its great for traveling. And, it comes with a quality vinyl sleeve for protection. ... show more

Works perfectly on M1 MacBook Air 2020, but be CAREFUL...

I've been using this with an M1 equipped MacBook Air, and so far the experience has been very positive. All metal build quality and the finish and color matches the laptop closely. For reference, I have a Space Gray MacBook Air, and the Gray version of this adapter. They are very, very close in color, only off by a very slight shade at very particular angles, but close enough to pass as official! See pictures. I also like that Purgo hasn't chosen to brand the device with a huge ugly logo. The branding is only on the bottom of the unit while connected (to the left side), so kudos for maintaining the nice clean aesthetic. All this wouldn't mean a thing if it didn't work properly, of course. Thankfully in my tests so far, it has performed as expected. I'm able to easily connect USB flash drives, and external drive, power cable (on the clearly marked USB-C plug that supports power delivery) and did some imports from my SD cards into Adobe Lightroom, at the same speed (or faster?) than my full size iMac with a built-in SD slot. I haven't been able to test the HDMI out yet, but the cable that I have around my desk fits nicely. I'll update with test results if not as expected. Fit: It fits snugly into the ports on my MacBook Air, easy. I also like the small apple-style led light that shows that it is connected and powered. I imagine it would be more flush with the edge of a MacBook Pro, but sine I have the Air, the tapered chassis obviously is incongruent with the side of this adapter. Not a huge thing. In short, it's one of the best designed and priced devices in this category of adapters. Things to be AWARE of: I advise using an adapter like this while the laptop is on a stationary desk, and NOT in your lap. Reason is simple physics: It's a solid, inflexible block of thin metal protruding from the side of the laptop, connected only by the strength of two USB-C plugs to your computer. I can imagine a situation where you hit it with your knee, or try to lift the computer while it's connected to a phone or external hard drive, and the force of impact UP or DOWN will snap the USB plugs off in their ports. If operating from bed or couch is a regular thing, then it might be better to purchase an adapter that is more dongle-like, with some flexibility built-in. SD Cards: If you have this adapter connected to the LEFT side of your computer like I do (MacBook Air only has ports on the left) then you'll need to insert an SD card into the reader UPSIDE-DOWN, that is, with the metal contacts facing UP. You don't want to force it the other way and risk damaging your port or SD card. 4K Monitors/Gaming: It says in the description and in the instructions that are on the box: This only supports a 4k monitor output at 30Hz / ie: 30fps. So if you're trying to hook this up for some 4k gaming, it's going to top out at 30fps. USB ports and unplugging difficulty: The fit from my devices is so snug in these ports, which is great for security. But, that also means that when I'm trying to remove them, I also risk pulling the whole adapter off the laptop. So you have to hold the adapter against the laptop awkwardly while unplugging your device. That's important if you have multiple things connected at a time and only want to remove one device while the other ports are transferring data etc. Aside from those very minor (and somewhat obvious) caveats, this is a solid buy all around! ... show more

Works well!
Color: Space Grey
Good product that works well. Not branded heavily which is really nice. Only problem is the color is one shade off, obvi doesn’t impact performance though.

Apple should have supplied this, its a perfect match
Color: Space Grey
I didnt realize that the new Mac book pros only have 2 USB-c ports and that is it. This unit has all the ports I need and more. Its a perfect match color wise. I am very happy with this product.

Three years later, still perfect
Color: Space Grey
I have been using this since I bought my Macbook Pro 16" three years ago, and it has performed flawlessly. Travelled all over the world to 20 different countries, the leather sleeve protects through it all. Never had a need for any additional ports than what is included here. Very happy with this adaptor. ... show more

Good for what I needed
Color: Space Grey
After finding out that my new macbook wasn't going to have... any ports really, I was relatively desperate to find a good hub. I can confidently say I looked through hubs for at least a week, especially because some anecdotes noted that if I use the wrong hub for certain laptop models, it could "fry" my ports (which would be my nightmare) and I was extremely paranoid. For the record, I have a 2022 M2 Macbook Pro (after my trusty 2015 model abandoned me) and because it was rather new, it was difficult to find reassurance that a hub had been used with my model and worked without any issues. Luckily for those of you coming after me, I can confirm that I have used this hub with my model, and it has been working fine with no issues. I mainly needed it to connect an HDMI monitor and to connect my microSD card. Obviously, be careful when moving your laptop when the hub is still attached, and note that the hub does indeed get hot -- but this is the same for all hubs (at least based on my research) and should be normal, as written in the product description. I personally remove the hub anytime I'm not using it, which reduces any overheating concerns I might have. The colour matching my laptop (space grey) and the cloth case that it comes with are some additional pluses as well. ... show more

very easy to use, versatile, comes with everything i need
Color: Space Grey
i work with a lot of photography and videography. i recently purchased an m2 macbook and was very disappointed that it didnt come with the plugs i needed. many brands sell adapter hubs with a wire that plugs into the computer (which looks ugly as hell). this dock is able to look like its a part of the computer, it doesn’t look awful, and it works like a charm. i will say i have had instances where it slightly gets warm but dont think that will be an issue, as long as its not burning hot. works very well, my photos and videos can be retrieved off the camera without loss of quality. this product was not only perfect, but a game changer for anyone looking to work on a macbook ... show more
