This is the third PuraFlame fireplace I have purchased. (The first one was 5 years ago, and it still looks and works great). I did lots of research before deciding on this brand. This one is the most realistic looking. We have a real wood burning fireplace on the main level by which our cat loves to get cozy and warm herself. This one looks so real she sits near it even when the heat option isn’t running! It is the perfect addition to our new basement media room. The heat feature is great. It is easy to use and was easy to install. All 3 we installed were in new construction, so we planned ahead and put in a dedicated electric line just to be sure all would work well. We did have a problem for a bit with the smaller one in the basement bedroom because the thermostat wasn’t working and it kept shutting off. After consulting the manual, we did a reset of the unit and it has continued to work fine since. I would definitely recommend the purchase of this fireplace.

First, this fireplace is beautiful. I don’t expect an electric fireplace to look exactly like real flames and wood -the technology is not there yet. For style it is 5 stars. As far as heat output this is being used a primary source of heat in a detached 200sq ft home office building with high ceilings. It adequately heats the building. Installation was a breeze. My husband followed the exact framing specs in the manual and had no installation issues. Figuring out the log placement as instructed in the manual was challenging. The pictures and instructions were not very clear but we finally got it. My only complaint is the thermostat feature has been disappointing and operates inconsistently. For example this morning the remote temp was set to 66 and it continued to blow and heat until the room was 72 and I finally shut it off. I did expect it to be off a couple of degrees but not for it to be that far off and not correctly shut off. Minus that issue this is a great unit.

I bought the PuraFlame Alice, 50” black, recessed, in-wall electric fireplace. It is built to recess 6” in the wall. This is one of the main features that differs from the PuraFlame Serena which is mounted on the wall and can not be recessed due to the design of the air vents. As the 50” model is too long to fit between standard 16” studs, and I didn’t want to mess with removing and resupporting studs, I framed and built out the wall 6” which turned out really nice. Overall, I really love the Alice. It’s air inlets are on the top left and right and the middle air vent blows the hot air. It works with or without the hot air feature if you want warmth or just ambiance. The flames can be orange, blue or a mix of both colors. I do prefer both colors as it give a gas fireplace feel. The front glass pannel is removable to access the decorative glass/crystal pebbles and the decorative logs. The logs are ceramic and can be arranged however you want. The glass/crystals on the bottom can be used instead of or in addition to the logs. There are two sizes of crystals, which are actually plastic. The fireplace features lights at the base of the flame which can be changed to a variety of colors. This add some realism if turned to red or orange as the color reflects on the crystals and logs, giving the appearance of red-hot embers. Also, this looks cool if using the blue light with the blue flame feature. Overall a great value. it ran me $400 on Amazon and another $400 to frame and build out the wall, and purchase and stain the decorative 1x3” wood slats. A Gas insert would have been $5,000.

1st, I loved the Alice60 when I bought it 3 years ago. 2nd, it looks great, the heat it puts out is great. The color options are also great. The reason for a 1 star review: My heater is 3 years old, and just stopped working. I emailed Puraflame, and they responded that day. The product was out of the warranty period, so I had to purchase the parts from them with no guarantee on solving the issue. I was ok with that, so I paid for the parts. Now that I paid for the parts, they will not respond to my emails, they do not answer phone calls, and they don't return voicemails. I haven't received the parts or a receipt. I looked at other brands to replace my fireplace, but their dimensions are different than Puraflame. I built my wall for that unit, so I'm stuck with that unit unless I reconstruct the opening for the fireplace. Just ridiculous. Edit: The seller responded after a few more weeks, and sent the part I needed to fix the fireplace. It works perfect again. If they were a little quicker to respond, I would put it at 5 stars. The fireplace is great though, and I'm glad it works again.
