We are renovating a 1940's Cape in the Northeast. We recently found out that our fireplace has 2 separate chimneys in the one stack. We decided to keep one for wood burning fires and the other we were going to convert to gas. After seeing the Puraflame electric log set insert in action, we immediately purchased it. We painted the back of the fire box black to maximize the effect of the unit. It has an amazing look, several options for controlling the fire look and sound. This is a neat option for people looking for a cozy fire without the mess and clean up of a wood burning fire. The living room where we have the unit is very warm, so we do not use the heating option often. It is nice to have if we ever lose heating in the house as a back up to protect water pipes and provide some additional warmth. We highly recommend.

Very nice insert.....make sure you use the plastic clear reflector for the flames look. Warms our room nicely & it looks real. Great crackling sound & it fits perfect in our fireplace. I've been looking for awhile for a realistic one & I love it.

The media could not be loaded. So I just received this today easy setup put the back on plug it in it's beautiful the Flames are amazing with the lights out you cannot see the plastic piece behind the logs will the light on you can see it though I think it's something I'll get used to colors are amazing I was able to plug it in and hide the cord as I do not have a hidden Outlet but it works the heater seems pretty powerful but again just got it today I'm very happy with my purchase so far the reviews that were written before me were very very helpful so I thought I owed it to new customers to write a review of my own which I do not typically do oh yeah I'm the crackling is awesome though my dog does not like it so we may be keeping that on number one it goes up to five I'm going to enjoy this this winter and the great part is if I want a real fire it's easy peasy to just take out and remove and then put back in so to all those thinking about getting one I say go for it and enjoy it!

The media could not be loaded. Worth every penny! I installed the fireplace in the bottom section of my China cabinet and actually looks like it was made to fit. My cabinet opening is 28”x21”, but would fit in any 24”x20” space. (Or stand alone in open area) It has 5 sound levels, 5 brightness levels including off, 6 different color flames, a timer for auto turn off, and a 750/1500 watt heater w/ two fan speeds each and w/thermostat. Easy set up, just install the plastic screen then plug it into any 15 amp circuit outlet (no screws) The coals on the bottom is the cherry on top. Great product! If you use it without the heater, it only costs pennies a day to run because of the use of LED bulbs. You will have zero regrets with this awesome versatile fireplace. Enjoy!

We have a 36" x 36" fireplace that we don't use much because it's honestly just too much work. We just wanted something cozy that looked as close to real as possible and puts out some heat. This definitely fits the bill. It looks great in our living room. I keep the fireplace mesh curtains closed and makes it look a little more real. The attached screen really makes the flames stand out and I love the different color options. It's very sturdy and super easy to set up. Took me 5 minutes max. I will say that you should not have anything plugged into the same outlet while using the heat option. Popped our breaker once, so we learned our lesson! My 2 complaints are that I wish it put out more heat than it does (although it does put heat) and the "crackle" sound is very egg in a frying pan-ish as my husband calls it lol. If you turn down the volume to 3 it sounds a lot better. Overall, I love it and would definitely recommend!

When I decided to convert my spec-house, highly inefficient, messy, wood burning fireplace to electric, I looked at many options-- including full inserts (for thousands of dollars), and I waded through dozens and dozens (ok, maybe hundreds) of videos looking for the most realistic looking set. I was somewhat limited due to my small fireplace, but I wanted one that looked real, had sound, had heat and wasn't crazy expensive. I settled on the PuraFlame 24" because it checked all those boxes. Even though I was hesitant to choose one that had the roundish back screen for displaying the flames, I chose this one because it just looked the best. It's only annoying during the day when you get glare from the front of the house. But the goal isn't to fool people, right? It's to have a nice looking substitute that's close enough. I do wish they'd include a square or rectangle option for that backdrop (hazy screen), so you could match it (cut it) to your fireplace. Regardless, I think it looks great in my fireplace and because I have an outlet (for fans) under my fireplace, I'll be running an inconspicuous cable up to the fire logs later today-- so you won't see wires! I'm sure the heater on this thing is not power bill friendly, but it's nice for taking the edge off the chill and making the experience more realistic when you walk up to the fireplace. I'm sure I could come up with a list of nitpicks and things I'll like to see added, but for what it is, it's pretty good as is.
