Never thought I would go for a fake fireplace insert, but I absolutely LOVE this thing. My only regret is not buying it sooner! We purchased the largest size as our firebox is pretty big. I was worried it would be too small, but it was perfect! It comes with a remote control which makes turning it on and off super easy. I now click it on when having my morning coffee in the winter, and it stays on all day - with absolutely no mess or tending required (hallelujah!). We do have to run the cable out of the fireplace, but now since there is no live fire to worry about, I have a nice bench-style cushion on the hearth that I can hide the cable behind so no one can see it. I know some have had an outlet installed in their firebox, but after surviving the terrible ice storm this past winter where we were out of power for a week, I’m glad we didn’t do anything as drastic as that, and were able to burn wood in the box to keep us from freezing to death with the power down for so long (it was literally the only time we burned wood the entire winter though!). It is made really well, and is a nice weight, but not so heavy I can’t lift it on my own (I’m a 54 year old woman). The “halo” is really interesting and I took others’ advice and put the dull side out, so behind our fire screen, the flames really do look quite authentic. I love all the options with the remote, which include various colors for the flame setting, well as different volumes for the crackle sound (or none at all). You can also set a temperature, or turn the heat off entirely if you want to use it just for ambiance when it’s not quite so cold outside. When you turn it off, the unit automatically goes to the last temperature setting you used when turning it back on, which is really convenient. It is not the cheapest fire insert (also not the most expensive), but I promise you it’s worth the money for the quality of the experience. I absolutely love this thing and would be hard pressed to ever go back to hauling in wood for a messy, sooty, stinky fire ever again. And if you don’t have a real firebox and want a fireplace, this insert is the perfect solution for a realistic look and feel - no chimney required! TRUST ME - JUST GET IT!!

Worth every penny! I installed the fireplace in the bottom section of my China cabinet and actually looks like it was made to fit. My cabinet opening is 28”x21”, but would fit in any 24”x20” space. (Or stand alone in open area) It has 5 sound levels, 5 brightness levels including off, 6 different color flames, a timer for auto turn off, and a 750/1500 watt heater w/ two fan speeds each and w/thermostat. Easy set up, just install the plastic screen then plug it into any 15 amp circuit outlet (no screws) The coals on the bottom is the cherry on top. Great product! If you use it without the heater, it only costs pennies a day to run because of the use of LED bulbs. You will have zero regrets with this awesome versatile fireplace. Enjoy!

I love love love this in my living room. My new condo that came with a fireplace but I found out they capped the chimney where we could no longer use the fireplace I was disappointed as I have a beautiful fireplace. I found this puraflame item. It fit inside my fireplace perfectly I did measure before ordering. At first I was concerned the screen that it comes with would stick up to high in back but nope it fit perfectly. I turned it on and it looked beautiful in my living room lighting uo my fireplace like a real fire. It has different flames and sound ..it also has heat but I did but I did not buy it for the heat feature that was extra. I am just so pleased

I did a ton of research on electric log sets ahead of purchasing this one in an attempt to get the most realistic insert for the best price ($250-300). I’ve had this now for a few weeks in my vintage Preway fireplace and it is PERFECT. It has the most customization features of other inserts of similar price points and looks SO good at night. The plastic back plate is visible in the daytime (if sunlight hits it) but it doesn’t bother me at all. The ash mat looks amazing and I love how I can dim it or change the color of the flame. The fan is a tad noisy but it certainly puts out heat. I think it’s unrealistic to think a small space heater is going to give off the same heat output as a fire but I’ve tested it and you can certainly feel it in the room. I am so excited to use it in the winter. If anyone is considering putting this in a vintage malm or preway fireplace, do it! It’s the best option at the cheapest price point. Only thing is time will tell on durability.

You should absolutely buy this no questions asked! Lifelike, puts off heat and there's no fan sound. I can control the sound of the crackling which is very realistic. You control the intensity of the light for the fire. The flames roll up the back so realistically it's hard to tell from a distance that it's not a real fire. See the video.

I am very happy with my 27 inch purchase. The flame is hypnotic and the red glow of the logs are very relaxing. I love that you can turn fireplace on/off in an instant without a mess to deal with later. I turned the crackle sound on the lower setting as it sounds more realistic that way. It does blow out heat but it is summer now and not necessary to use. I took a star away because I dont see any manual controls on the unit. While the remote works just fine, I would hate to misplace it. Manual controls would be more reassuring. If I am wrong about the lack of manual control, I would love to know where they are located. Overall, the quality is very good and I am enjoying it on summer evenings.

When I decided to convert my spec-house, highly inefficient, messy, wood burning fireplace to electric, I looked at many options-- including full inserts (for thousands of dollars), and I waded through dozens and dozens (ok, maybe hundreds) of videos looking for the most realistic looking set. I was somewhat limited due to my small fireplace, but I wanted one that looked real, had sound, had heat and wasn't crazy expensive. I settled on the PuraFlame 24" because it checked all those boxes. Even though I was hesitant to choose one that had the roundish back screen for displaying the flames, I chose this one because it just looked the best. It's only annoying during the day when you get glare from the front of the house. But the goal isn't to fool people, right? It's to have a nice looking substitute that's close enough. I do wish they'd include a square or rectangle option for that backdrop (hazy screen), so you could match it (cut it) to your fireplace. Regardless, I think it looks great in my fireplace and because I have an outlet (for fans) under my fireplace, I'll be running an inconspicuous cable up to the fire logs later today-- so you won't see wires! I'm sure the heater on this thing is not power bill friendly, but it's nice for taking the edge off the chill and making the experience more realistic when you walk up to the fireplace. I'm sure I could come up with a list of nitpicks and things I'll like to see added, but for what it is, it's pretty good as is.

I highly reccomend. I saw the review on You tube on this brand. One buyer claims it has lasted him 5 years, si I took the plunge. Gas fireplaces make me nervous so I opted for this. It fits perfect in my built in fireplace. It mak s my living room very cozy. I highly recommended.
