I bought these because my other ones keeping locking without me wanting them to lock. These don't do that, but once you unlock them, it's hard to lock them back (1 star). Over all, not bad for $9, if you don't care about locking them (4 stars). They are sharp and comfortable (5 stars). Although the ratchet part seems flimsy (and it's the same part as the locking mechanism, which you really have to squeeze hard to lock and will soon wear out I'm afraid, weirdly). They definitely don't lock on their own, that's for sure!

Bought a pair, and the blade snapped at the base w the first use. I was out of the return window through Amazon, so contacted them directly and they sent me a replacement which seems to work just fine. No hassle. Ratcheting feature is nice for sticks approaching the size limit of the shears.

Bought this for my mom whose hands are now aged. She will be using it for general garden pruning. Though for it's first use, we ended up cutting a tree-branches into smaller pieces to fit it in our green waste can. The ratchet function has a tendency to cut 1" round size branches. If you have less than 1 inch branches, my mom recommended to use the tip of this clippers, and if it's 1" thick then use the rear end of the clippers. The tree branches when cut were many and huge, but my photo only shows the end of the process. The photo shows a long saw blade that is part of the 14 ft tree pruner separate from the ratchet pruner. My mom is pleased and so am I. Your mileage may vary!

Haven’t used these much but they failed and snapped on a 3/4” dead branch in ratchet mode. Too bad I didn’t get much use out of them prior. Metal handle looks cheap now that it has snapped and we can see inside. I’m not an engineer, so I cannot tell what the material is. From the outside it looks strong. It is not.

Product looks and feels solid. The locking mechanism for the shears is why I only give it three stars. It is really hard to unlock. It could just be that my specific pair is sticky or not functioning correctly but I cannot open the shears with one hand. I have to use both hands and really push that sliding lock up. The weird thing is that it is fairly easy to lock agin. More importantly, the cutting ability is decent. Not great but not terrible. The springs are pretty strong so it can be a work out for the hand if you are trimming a lot of things. It works ok but I think if they broke I would spend a little more to get a pair with a smoother motion (open to close). So far the shears themselves are holding up well and do what they are supposed to, just not very comfortably. They work for pruning my roses and other small yard plants but wouldn’t work for anything much larger than a rose stem. They do the job but you do get what you pay for.

The media could not be loaded. Love the ratcheting ease of cut, but requires 4 squeezes to cut through. Great feature. And if your cutting a bunch of small stuff, the single cut option is a necessity. HOWEVER, the switch was nearly frozen when I tried to move it. It felt like I had to break it to get it to first move from "S" to "R". After doing it several times the switch works somewhat easier. You better have tough callist fingers to start with. See my video for demo. Also, the soft handle part will just slowly slide off as you stretch it to get the vinyl cover on and it then slowly squeezes off the tapered handle. It would not slip off if it truly were rubber! So 4 stars for obvious quality issues. I hope it lasts and keeps an edge.
