So I got this tiller last week and got it set up at the weekend and of course it rained so I wasn't able to get out and use it until today. I already had dug over the garden and turned in compost a while ago, but the soil had got compacted and I wanted a way to break it up and loosen weeds that would make things easier each Spring and Fall as I try to improve my soil quality. The tiller is small enough to be maneuverable but powerful enough to make light work of the job. You can see there's a winding path in the garden and some pavers in there as steps too so there were twists and turns. It took me about 10-15 minutes to till the soil in the photo. The temptation is to push, but it really works much better to allow the tiller to do the work. It has an accelerator in the handle, engage it and off you go. It has enough control to allow you to slow down and steer. And a stop switch on the handle to turn it off easily. If you walk slightly to the untilled side you can get a great job and not tread where you till. And while substantial, it is on the lighter end so you can lift it up between plots of land. If you have to move it a greater distance you unpin the tiller and rotate the wheels so you can roll it and then switch back. That takes about 30 seconds. As for the tiller it can go down pretty deep. I adjusted mine so it was about 6 inches and that worked great. It left the soil beautifully broken up and workable ready to plant seedlings when it gets warm enough. I am planting in wider rows this year so I will be able to till in between during the Summer to keep the soil loose and prevent weeds establishing. One thing that attracted me to this tiller was the additional edging tool. This separate attachment allows you to edge the piece of land you are tilling. You replace the tilling tines with the edger tine on one side and a wheel on the other. There is a pin each side which secure the tines. You pop that out and switch them over allowing you to have a nice clean edge. So all in all I am pretty happy with how it works and how the garden looks. It's also compact enough to store easily and if you need to break it down even more the handles are easy to remove too. Don't forget this is 4 stroke, so you'll need to add 80ml oil in the separate reservoir. SAE30 or 10W-30 motor oil. ... show more
