  • Love the paddle switch
Hello everyone, today's Vine review will be on a corded angle grinder from ProMaker, a brand that I have no prior experience with. Presently I have several different brands of grinders (I’m not brand loyal) and I like to keep each setup differently: grinding, cutting and one with a flapper wheel on it (Now two). In this review I’m going to avoid mentioning all of the information that is available online, as there is no since repeating what you already know. (Unboxing) Everything was well packaged, and all of the components were inside the box as advertised. I’ll probably keep the box, even though the grinder will be hanging on the workshop wall shortly. (Cosmetic damage) There was only one spot on top of the grinder housing that had cosmetic damage to it (See photo) . It is minor and won't even be noticeable after using it for a while, as tools tend to get scratched up in a workshop or out in the field. (Guard) I normally take the guard off, thus allowing better access to projects. Unfortunately I’ve paid the price for it on a few occasions and now use them all the time. The main reason I didn’t use them was because on my older grinders, the guards had to be loosened with a screwdriver, turned into place and screwed back down. You're not going to have that issue with this grinder as the guard is easy to release, rotated into place and locked back down once again, no tools required. (No integrated tool storage) I realize there are advantages to having the ability to store the pin wrench on the tool itself, mainly from the standpoint of not losing it. Personally it's no big loss to me as I just leave it hanging on the wall next to the spare disks. (Carbon brushes) Brushless tools have their advantages, but I’ve done just fine without them, so I really don’t see it as a major chore to change the brushes out occasionally. Besides a spare set is included with the grinder. (Paddle switch) Speaking only for myself, I’m a big fan of paddle switches, I just find them more ergonomic, especially with gloves on. (Arbor) The video that is available online for this grinder, shows it as having a ⅝ arbor. It is in fact a ⅞ arbor as stated in numerous other places. (Instructions) Pretty impressive, as grammatically it is understandable. The manual contains the usual page after page of warnings, yet the information that is relevant to its operation is well laid out and easy to understand. In all I’m satisfied with this grinder, Ive only used it a few times and haven’t had the opportunity to properly torture test it. But short of a major meltdown, I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t last, only time will tell. ... show more

  • Not a bad little saw
My husband got this little saw to do little projects. He said it works pretty well for the little projects he has used it on.

  • It's cheap, but on the bright side, it's cheap.
Okay, so, this thing feels and performs like a cheap grinder. It's light, it flexes, it doesn't have the best fit&finish. In its defense, that's because it's a cheap grinder. If you're a professional metal worker, look elsewhere. You aren't going to be happy and you probably have the budget for a much nicer unit. On the other hand, if you're an occasional weekend warrior like me, it's fine. Good even. It removes metal, includes the usual basics (handle, flap wheels, grinding discs), and doesn't break the bank. I don't know how long it will last, but since I only need it maybe one weekend per month, I'm confident I'll get my money's worth out of it. ... show more

  • Powerful, affordable, and DIY-friendly.
Been using this ProMaker angle grinder for several weekend projects, and it has performed well for both cutting and grinding. The motor delivers solid power—up to 12,000 RPM—without bogging down. The tool-free adjustable guard and 3-position handle make awkward angles much easier to manage. It’s heavier than my previous grinder, but in a way that makes it feel solid and well-built. For occasional use or DIY projects, it’s a strong value. I’ve had no issues so far, and it has exceeded my expectations for this price. ... show more

  • Power and Precision in a Compact Tool
Ever been stuck with a small grinder that bogs down the moment you start cutting or grinding something tough? That frustration is real, but the this angle grinder does not have that issue. Whether I was cutting steel profiles or smoothing rough edges and removing rust, this grinder powered through without losing pace. One thing I loved right away was how smoothly it runs—no annoying vibrations shaking your hands off, even during heavy grinding. The 9 Amp motor feels surprisingly powerful for its size and maintained its speed under load, which made all my metalwork quicker and easier than expected. The paddle switch was a game changer too, much more convenient than the usual slide switch. It cuts out instantly when you let go, so it’s safer and less tiring on long jobs. It’s fairly loud with a typical grinder whine—nothing out of the ordinary. For the price, it’s a solid value compared to big-name brands without feeling cheap. The included accessories like flap discs, grinding wheel, and spare carbon brushes are nice bonuses to get started right away. If you want a solid, versatile angle grinder that’s powerful, comfortable, and easy to use without breaking the bank, this one is definitely worth considering. ... show more

  • Good Entry Level Grinder
I have a battery powered angle grinder that has performed well over the years, but sometimes you just need a little more power. This grinder also has some neat features like the ability to rotate the handles to either side or use it on top. It is also very simple to adjust the position of the guard without needing tools... certainly speeds up things. If like me, you typically just remove the guard on a grinder because it gets in the way, you might change your mind with this grinder. The description is a little deceptive... there is nothing innovative about the paddle switch. It turns the grinder on and off... though I do like paddle switches better than sliders. I thought I would break this in while installing a load of cultured exterior stone today... lots of cuts needed. It performed well... plenty of power... low vibration... fairly comfortable to use for extended periods. I have a shop full of tools, but this is my first experience with anything form this brand. If you are looking for an entry-level grinder at a fair price. This unit is certainly worthy of consideration. ... show more
