Despite what to me was a low price along with a reputable brand name of Proctor Silex, I almost did not order the electric skillet. My reason for considering it was due to my stove short-circuiting, leaving me with a convection oven, and a microwave oven, and no experience boiling pasta in the latter. After being successful in my first attempt I then considered my other problems, namely, sauteeing chicken thighs for my chicken salad for sandwiches, sauteeing mushrooms which I do a lot, and browning ground beef for casseroles. I decided the reviews were positive enough that I went ahead and ordered it. It was delivered as promised on Sunday and I wasted no time putting it together with my Phillips screwdriver. Once the handle was in place I read over how to set it up and operate it, then went to work with the chicken thighs. As I have trouble standing for long periods, I found it a pleasant difference to actually sit down on my kitchen chair while tending to the thighs as they simmered in the skillet. I then did up the mushrooms and found it so easy to do. The skillet is nonstick and therefore a breeze to clean up afterwards and is surprisingly light and easy to move. I am definitely pleased with it to the extent I may not worry over the stove but be content with my other two ovens and this amazing electric skillet.

Our stove died 3 months ago and we have been waiting all this time for the delivery of our replacement. I bought this skillet to help get us through the time we are without a stove and I love it. It seems to be very accurate on the heat settings, it heats up almost instantly and cooks evenly on the entire skillet. When I eventually do get the new stove I'm still using this skillet for fried chicken & pork chops. They turn out perfectly every time!

This is a bare bones skillet. It works and is really easy to clean, so why the 4 star (I really wanted to give it 3.5 stars)? Simmering. I wanted to simmer some red sauce/gravy with meatballs. The meatballs browned nicely, but after I added the tomato, the vino and other stuff, I could not get it to a gentle simmer. I fiddled with it and the best I could get it to do was somewhere between 200 and 250 degrees (No other marking) and time it. I finally got it to a point where it would click on and start to boil vigorously for 17 to 20 seconds then nothing for about 40 seconds then near boil over & over. I guess they figure an average temperature is OK. This process worked but I needed to tend to it more than I like, so the skillet will now be relegated to normal stuff. It's a shame though, other than MY needs this is an OK device. I am not tossing in the bin.

Oh my gosh for an inexpensive pan this works great ! My Faberware stainless electric skillet gave up after over 20 years. I can't find a Faberware replacement so ordered another brand of a stainless skillet. I hate it !!! things stick, it is not submersible-my fault I didn't read the description well. It was over 30 days so could not return. I ordered this as didn't want to spent much to try something else. Every time I use it I comment on how such an inexpensive skillet works so great. It's very light weight & easy to clean. Even if it only lasts a few years, hey for the price I will have gotten my moneys worth. it very much fits my need for the thingst I use an electric skillet for.

I got tired of trying on my glass cook top and making a big mess. So, I cover the cooktop with a cloth, put this on it under the exhaust fan and use this little gem for frying messy food. When I’m finished, I just quickly wash it out and let it dry. No mess on my cooktop and dinner is done. This is one of the handiest pans in my kitchen. It’s big enough to cook 6 chicken breasts but small enough to easily store in my drawer. It heats up fast, cooks well and then washes easily with it’s non-stick coating. Love it!!!!

Cooking for one is made easier with this skillet. Love the temperature control whether I'm cooking cabbage or burgers, I can count on consistency. Good sealing lid so I can help steam cook or if I just want to limit spattering. Non-stick. Easily cleaned. Nice alternative to the stovetop. Good value.

This is quite possibly the worst workmanship I have ever had the misfortune to discover in any item that actually cost real money. Never mind the rough finish on the non-stick interior of the skillet. The metal "lip", or whatever you might call the part of the lid that is a bit recessed and fits it to the inside of the pan, is bent on three sides and not uniformly or evenly, so it is not a design feature. It just looks like it got whacked around before it was put in the box. One side is straight and fits properly. The bent parts could be overlooked or even possibly carefully straightened. The lid still more or less works. I discovered the worst bit of this skillet when finishing my first use of it. I followed instructions and turned the skillet off and then unplugged it from the wall outlet. I let it cool down before unplugging the temperature control from the skillet. As I pulled the temperature control unit from the skillet it made a scraping sound and feel. The temperature control piece has a long center "prong" that heats the skillet. It also has a small hole to either side of the longer prong. Looking at where it plugs into the skillet, there are - or should be - two very small, smooth, shiny "prongs" that fit into the the two holes on the temperature control. As it turns out, these are smooth and shiny because they are each covered with a smooth shiny metal sleeve that screws onto them.One of these had not been screwed in tight and just pulled out with the temperature control unit. It was actually stuck inside the little corresponding hole on the temperature control. I did manage to retrieve this little metal sleeve and will attempt to properly screw it back into place - assuming I can find a small enough tool to do so. This seems to me to be unsafe and really an unnecessary defect - or set of defects. I am both puzzled and disappointed. I made this purchase because I needed it. I don't have money to burn.
