  • Best Buy for The Year (for us)
Size: 72cc+3 auger(4"8"12")+2 Ext(24"24")
This Auger is a lifesaver indeed! We wanted to build a wooden retaining wall in our backyard and knew that the post hole digger we had would make this project last to the next millennium! I suggested renting an auger, but my husband found this one and bought it. It is perfect. Not too expensive, or heavy, comes with different size drill bits (? not sure if that's what they're called) and is easy to operate. We highly recommend this Auger to anyone who needs to dig a deep hole for maybe a tree etc... ... show more

  • Works great and very good value for the money.
Size: 72cc+3 auger(4"8"12")+2 Ext(24"24")
So, to be fair, I have only drilled (15) holes at 32" deep. Soil is clay (outside of Memphis); again to be objective, this is the wet time of the year so the clay was not dry (which would be like drilling through cement). The 8" auger worked great, two of us drilled the holes. It would not have been possible to do it myself, because of the clay. The machine started right up and ran like a champ, plenty of power. I will note (like others have mentioned) the throttle is plastic and delicate. I was very careful how I held the unit, making sure not to put stress on the throttle switch. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Good value!
Size: 72cc+3 auger(4"8"12")+2 Ext(24"24")
This purchase was probably not my best decision, but due to no fault of the equipment. It is well made, runs great, has a good selection of augers, and plenty of extensions. I found it very easy to assemble and it started up, ran like a champ, and was easy to operate. So, you ask, what's the problem? Well, the only issue is where I live is exactly where the retreating glaciers decided to drop large rocks a few thousand years ago. Every time I try to use this thing, I hit rocks within a few inches. I don't care how good a post hole digger is, it cannot compete with rocks the size of watermelons, and that's the small ones. Unfortunately, my whole property is this way. My only recourse at this point is to try to sell it at a small loss. Somebody will get a bargain on a very good machine, and I will continue to use my backhoe. ... show more

  • Did the job very well.
Size: 62cc+3 auger(3"5"8")+3 Ext(24"24"24")
The reason for the 4 star is that the air cleaner filter cover arrived broken and failed to stay on. I had to purchase a longer screw and a washer to repair it. It seems to be holding together for now. Although warned in other reviews and be the seller to check the bolts holding things together, everything seemed to be ok. I checked both before and after use. The starter cord was a little difficult to pull at first but when it worked the thing started right up. Let it warm up a little before using it. Relatively easy to operate. I was worried but it does not turn until you rev it and then is easy to control the speed. I hit a rock in a hole but I simply let go of the handle and throttle and it spun a little and then stopped. No problem but I had to go around the rock. Overall it worked good and so much quicker and easier than digging by hand. Other than the air filter cover it seems to be decent quality and it arrived with three size augers as well as three extensions that I needed. ... show more

  • Back saver
Size: 62cc+3 auger(3"5"8")+3 Ext(24"24"24")
I have used this several times as a post hole digger. It works great. The auger does not go in reverse to be sure to have 2 people available to operate if you are digging more than two feet. Overall, it is a great unit for the price and definitely a back saver.

  • Worked for 12 small holes then broke.
Size: 72cc+3 auger(4"8"12")+2 Ext(24"24")
Bought this last year and used it in the fall to dig about a dozen holes for flowers. Put it in storage for the winter and this spring after putting in new fuel and tried to start it. The machine is compression locked and will not start. You cannot pull the starter rope. If you do try and pull the rope out, it will snap back and almost break your arm. ... show more

  • Highly recommend, pleasantly surprised!
Size: 72cc+3 auger(4"8"12")+2 Ext(24"24")
I bought this because it had lots of positive reviews and was within my budget. I was skeptical when it arrived… The throttle seemed very chintzy. There weren’t good instructions on how to connect it (it came unattached and required a little assembly). I rarely buy products that I am thoroughly pleased with. This is one of those rare products. I mixed 1 gallon of gas and oil, and have dug at least 30 four-foot deep holes with the 12 inch auger bit over the past couple months. Sometimes it’s slow going when the ground is hard, sometimes I hit tree roots, sometimes it practically falls to 4 feet. But in every case the engine started right up without even needing to use the choke and ran perfectly throughout the digging process. And I still have gas in the tank. Just yesterday, I used it again after it sat for three weeks with a little bit of the original gallon of gas in the tank. I thought I’d have a hard time getting it started, I was shocked when it started right up. I highly recommend this auger. It’s one of those purchases that paid for itself many times over and runs like a champ. ... show more

  • Speed not a help
Size: 62cc+3 auger(3"5"8")+3 Ext(24"24"24")
Didn’t help us as much. Not sure if our dirt was too compact but we ended up digging by hand. The auger would only dig a few inches before had to stop and break up the ground with a digging bar. Took over 30 minutes to dig a hole so it ended up being faster to just use the bar a post hole digger. Not ideal. ... show more
