Do I still need bed slats if I use this board? Yes. This board sits on top of your existing bed slats or box spring — it reinforces them, it doesn't replace them. It works with slats spaced 8 inches apart or less. Which side faces up when I install it? The fabric side faces up, toward your mattress. The textured grip side faces down, toward your bed frame. Installing it upside down is the most common cause of the board shifting. What is the board actually made of? A fluted plastic core with internal air channels, wrapped in Oxford 600D fabric on top and a non-slip grip surface on the bottom. Unlike MDF or wood, the core won't absorb moisture or warp over time. It comes in two pieces — will there be a gap in the middle? No. The two 38" x 40" halves are designed to sit flush, edge to edge, when seated correctly on your slats. The two-piece design makes it easier to ship and maneuver into place. Can I use this with a box spring instead of bed slats? Yes. The board works on top of either a slatted frame (8" gaps or less) or a standard box spring.
