Didn’t get a chance to use this but once last year so I didn’t leave a review. But I have got to use it a few more times in the last couple days. It’s a great machine and works awesome in heavy wet snow. It’s never bogged down. I never run anything with ethanol in it so I know it will fire every time. I still haven’t used electric start as it starts up first pull. Ok lol so 2 full days of blowing snow in sub zero temps. The choke nob froze up so couldn’t turn to choke but still fired up in subzero. Now the problem is the pull rope froze and broke so got to look up part and get it order. But it was running off and on for 8 plus hours each day trying to keep our walks and wheelchair ramp cleared and helping clear elderly lots. ... show more

After waiting patiently, my PowerSmart snow thrower (model # PSS226LED) arrived in faily good condition (given its large, heavy, & cumbersome size). Only 2-3 paint blemishes were noted due to chaffing/vibration. Assembly was easy and straightforward using the company's instructions. It fired up quickly and seemed to work well as it powered through relatively dry snow but, after a while of use, it began to not self-propel when the drive lever was depressed. It frequently remained stationary while the engine and both (2) stages of snow transfer systems (impeller & auger) ran fine. I used this machine only once for my and my mother-in-law's driveway. (Only one morning's usage.) The troubleshooting guide was not helpful in this situation. I did adjust the transmission cable twice but it had no effect and, from what I can see around the unit, there is no other adjustment mechanism to adjust. This PowerSmart unit has a 2-year warranty but is, at this point, useless because I cannot speak with Customer Service nor have they replied to my email for assistance. I made three (3) phonecalls to them and waited 2.5 hours for someone to answer. Finally, at the end of my last 61-minute (1 hour+) call, a recorded message told me to leave my name & telephone number. I tend to put too much faith in the abilities of others. I assumed an $800 PowerSmart snowthrower would work. I assumed the phone number would connect me to someone to help me. I assumed their website would guide me towards a service center for a minor adjustment. Now, I can only assume that I will not hear from PowerSmart and that I will be returning this machine. NOTE: Per PowerSmart's instructions on the outside of the shipping box, SAVE THE BOX for return shipping if necessary. Take my advice-- Simply avoid the frustration by NOT buying from PowerSmart to begin with. If, IF PowerSmart contacts me and can make good on this Amazon Sale, I will consider changing this very poor review. Until then, I'm in the immediate market for a quality snow shovel. UPDATE: After 5 attempts (4.5 hours on hold!), someone finally answered my last call. There is NO authorized repair facility between Abbotsford, B.C. Canada and California so it required an inconvenient dialog with a local shop. My local shop thought the wheel drive engagment failure could be a result of an inferior drive belt but was unsure. Since the problem could not be duplicated as the machine was dry without snow & moisture, I had no choice but to bring it back home and hope that it works next snowfall. This is not an acceptable solution which frustrates the heck out of me. I simply do not have a choice but to hold on to it and hope for the best because for me to disassemble it, drain the oil and fuel, package it up for return shipping, and waiting for them to get it, I will not see a replacement unit for at least a month due to the truck Transit time between Indiana and Western Washington. ... show more

After delivery before snow season and after assembly and a dry run through the garage we had to wait until 7 Jan 24 for snow. The blower went through the 8 inches of snow with no problem. Tackled our driveway up and downhill easily. Went around the yard over grass making paths for my dog to run and use easily. As with other things, like bicycles I've bought from Amazon - there's always someone posting with "OMG IT'S SO HARD TO PUT TOGETHER" or who is shocked, SHOCKED I say that it doesn't come ready to use in the box. If you don't normally work with hand tools, then maybe don't buy something that's going to have to be put together when it arrives at your door in a box. I put this unit together in about 20 minutes by myself...it's no big deal. The directions are OKish...I'll grant you that they could be better, but realistically if you just stop and look at it you'd figure out how it goes together anyway. Assembly was super easy...fired right up once I put in oil and gas (don't forget the oil!). The augur spins right up, and it drives itself around, and seems to be as expected. Haven't had a snowfall yet, so if it falls apart after use I'll let you know. ... show more

Man o man. This this is everything it says and more. Let me say that I do not leave reviews often and I purchase a lot of things online. But I do read them. These reviews were 50/50 it seemed. But for me it is definitely 5 ☆ . I have the 24" briggs and stratton motor. I went with the briggs because I have been able to trust there motors in the past. Ok so I live in michigan , over the past 2 weeks we have gotten over 36" of snow with about 14" being the most over 1 night. And this things clears it with ease. It also blows it WAY out of the way. It starts up strong with 1 pull. I haven't needed to use electric start yet. I would honestly say 30° + the heated handles allowed me to work with no gloves. But any lower then that I use gloves and it's comfortable so that's a big plus for me. The only thing I would say is take your time with assembly and if you got that down there should be no issues. I know people would rather spend 2k+ for a toro and that's fine but this thing is all of thoes other brands. I've used toro and craftsman in the years prior and still use toro only for lawn. But I HIGHLY recommend this snow blower. (With the briggs motor for reassurance. Hope this helps someone. ... show more

Bolts came spewed throughout the bottom of the box. You would think bolts would be secured expertly. Directions are less than desirable and no locking nuts on the push handle which experiences a tremendous amount of torque lifting and pulling. The plus’s are good amount of power with the 212 cc engine and the auger is efficient and will throw a lot of snow. ... show more

I live in Buffalo and I got SLAMMED with about 3ft of snow over 3 days and this snowblower was AMAZING! I have used a plow service for the past 10yrs but they were unreliable so I bought this to do myself this year.
