I was a bit worried about ordering this unit since it was about half the price of some of them, but since I was installing this on the hot water heater in my shop instead of the house, I thought I would give it a try. Let me start off by saying, the hot water does not get turned on much in my shop but I do have a bathroom with shower in there for use with our pool in the summer months. We are on well water and the rotten egg smell from the hot water heater was very strong. I pulled the original anode on the electric hot water heater and it was coated with deposits and smelled bad. I did completely drian it before installing the new one. The install was super easy. I have now had this unit working for a week and have detected no odor at all. I am so impressed, i'm going to order the same unit for my house. I think the only difference with this anode and the more expensive one is the warranty, but I hate keeping up with warranty stuff so I was fine with this anode. To sum it up, the product does what it says and is at a great price. I am super happy.

I had just replaced the original anode rods not much over a year ago then all of a sudden that nasty smelling water was coming out of our faucets once again. Buying another rod the right length was going to be 57.00 this one was double the price but it says it could work up to 20 years. Even if it only last 5 or 6 just not having to deal with that nasty smelling water it’s worth it. Also the hassle of replacing the rod is just worth paying more for.

After getting a socket to fit my anode rod and this unit, I powered off the heater, shut off the unit and let some water out, enough to remove the rod. The unit has been in use for just over 2 years and surprising to my the rod I pulled out had 98% left! So I expect this powered one to give 40+ years life to the water heater! However there has not been anything noticeable yet. Will update if things improve or tank. For now, it seems great!

STOPPED working after a few months. I installed this with the hope of saving my water heater. Instead, I now have perfectly preserved, stinky water. The installation was fine, but the promised "cleaner, fresher" water is anything but. My hot water now has a bizarre, metallic, almost electrical smell. It seemed to work for a month or two and stopped. I've checked and double-checked the installation, but the smell is undeniable. It seems the only thing this anode is powering is same awful aroma. Save your money and just buy a standard anode rod. This thing is shocking, and not in a good way.

Just as advertised. I am on a well and it was the best option for smelly water heater. Most anode rods will break down quickly with well water and have horid smelling water. This product was easy to install and the smelly water was gone within 5 minutes. Hoghly recommended.
