  • An amazing concept with very poor execution.
Color: Grey
Despite my initial 2 star rating I really do love this controller. However, this controller has some glaring flaws that really need to be taken into consideration before you purchase. The good?: ·It's recognized by the system as a pro controller instead of a GameCube controller, and has all the extra buttons you need to use it with any game on the switch! ·Same motion control functionality as a pro controller. ·Feels perfect in the hands, just the right amount of weight. ·Face buttons and joysticks feel identical to the original. ·Much better d-pad compared to the original GameCube controller! The really bad: ·This is the big one. Triggers are not analog, and despite the item descriptions claim at being the best option for smash, the lack of analog simply makes this controller obsolete when it comes to playing smash seriously(very dissapointing, PowerA!) ·Non rechargable batteries in 2018? I could live without it IF it had analog triggers, but this just feels like excessive corner cutting. ·Zero rumble functionality on a $50 controller, again it's 2018 guys. ·Lack of built in battery means no USB port for any PC use, unlike the regular pro controller(not massive but still!) Is it terrible? No. Is it worth the $50 price tag? No. This is a seriously missed opportunity that just fails due to poor design choices likely in favor of cutting corners. I would honestly give this 5 stars if it had analog triggers and just ignore all the other flaws, but without them this barely justifies being worth half it's retail price(likely due to it being officially licensed, the price of that is pushed onto you.) I would honestly pay upwards of $100 for a proper functioning GameCube styled controller updated for a modern era, but this just isn't it. ... show more

  • TO ALL THOSE OUT THERE WONDERING WHY THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE CONTROLS ON SMASH, PLEASE READ
Color: Wireless Purple
First off, to those out there who are struggling with their controller setups on smash ultimate, this controller falls under the pro-controller/joy-con setup. You DO NOT use the gamecube controller setup to change the controls for this controller. On the control setup screen, there's a "in use" bubble over which controller scheme you are using. I hope this saves some anguish for some. That being said, I like this controller! It feels pretty similar to the regular gamecube controller, while heavier at the same time! Works pretty well with ultimate, and its nice to have a controller that feels like a gamecube controller, but is useable in other switch games! I only have a few gripes with this controller 1. HD rumble/rumble support would have been nice. I personally don't care much for an NFC reader/writer, but Idk, it just felt nice having rumble. 2. Batteries. Not a huge issue if you have rechargeable ones (which aren't too expensive), but it would have been nice. 3. The ZR trigger feels...off for some reason. It's harder to click into compared to the ZL trigger. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice not to have this issue. ... show more

  • It's a beefed up GC controller!
Color: Wireless Black
To start off it feels great, exactly like a Gamecube controller, same quality feel and grip. The face buttons are nice and clicky, the left analog stick feels a tad smaller, and the now R and L buttons that was just a Z button feel bigger and nicer than the super small original Z shoulder button. The big grey shoulder buttons are now ZL and ZR which have been reduced in size a good bit and also are only digital now, so they don't feel quite as nice as the original GC design. Also the D-pad is larger and nicer feeling. The C-stick is the only thing I'm disappointed with, it has no grip on it like the Nintendo GC one, it's just a hard plastic that doesn't work all that great for games that need precise aim. It also might be a little more resistant, but the original GC sticks were pretty damn resistant as well. That's really my only con. Tested it with Windows 10 bluetooth and it synced up real fast, worked perfectly fine with the Dolphin emulator, so that's a big plus. If you've always liked the GC controller get this thing, it's worth it. Hoping it lasts a long time. Update: The analog stick on PC isn't working quite right. Holding the stick all the way to one side doesn't fully register so when playing some games turning is slow or doesn't even work at all in some menus. I attached a picture of the properties. A firmware update could fix this issue though. ... show more

  • Feels like a good, sturdy controller, but...
Color: Wired Purple
This feels like a decent controller and I was excited to play some smash bros on it. I received the game today and started it up only to find that the main joystick constantly drifted upwards. I opened up the controller calibration settings and as my picture shows, it is definitely off and it cannot be recalibrated. I will be exchanging it for another and hopefully the next one will not have the same issue. ... show more

  • Hope you like drifting joysticks.
Color: Wired Black
The media could not be loaded. Tried it right out of the box from the mail. The joystick for the controller keeps drifting upwards to the top of the screen without any input. I've tried recalibrating, replugging the controller, and turning off the switch entirely. Please don't sell broken items to customers, and do some quality control first. It's tacky, unprofessional, and an embarassment. ... show more

  • Noticeable comfort difference between this and a GameCube controller
Color: Wireless Black
The shoulder buttons, analog and Z, feel completely different from the GameCube controller. The way this controller feels in your hand is considerably worse than the GameCube controller. The Y button protrudes extensively out of the controller as do the Z buttons. The shoulder buttons feel smaller and everything feels cramped. The buttons on the face of the controller feel fine when they click down. The analog sticks feel fine. The d-pad feels a little imprecise but it might be fine. The feel of this controller just doesn’t feel like a GameCube controller. I spent a lot of time watching reviews of this controller and everyone said that it feels genuine, so I was surprised when I got it in my hand. I’ll see how it feels with Smash. ... show more
