The bait product tends to bridge, but a series of taps on the side of the hopper keeps the product flowing. I also use the spreader for treating specific areas with fertilizer prills. Works great!

I own two manual crank spreaders and find them to be a lot of work. They are also slow. This battery powered spreader can throw its payload further and faster than any hand crank model. The load on the battery is relatively light; even a small capacity battery is adequate for a 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft area. You need a Dewalt battery. I bought a Dewalt impact driver, just to get the two included batteries. Then I found that I should have bought an impact driver years ago!

Product worked ok during the first year of application. However small clover and similar seeds did work their way through the gaps in plastic cover and got to the gear housing. There, mixed with pre-applied grease did bind up the gears. Had to open up the contraption and remove its many parts to free the gears. Now looking for a parts diagram to put it back together. Is there one available?

I have a larger yard with lots of places where trees were in the past, which tends to cause sink holes over time. So I am constantly tilling up areas and reseeding. I have a small tractor, with a tiller and seed bed roller, so the actual final grading and seeding/fertilizing are the only tasks that are more onerous and not in the air conditioning of the tractor. Final touch up grading will continue to be manual until my tractor skills improve. Since I had Dewalt batteries, I chose this spreader over several others. It does a great job of spreading the seed and fertilizer both for a distance and evenly. I would say it sends the grass seed 5 or 6 feet, with no wind, and the fertilizer more like 10 -12 feet due to its greater weight. It is much easier to broadcast both with this versus doing it by hand. I could use a push seeder/fertilizer, but I always seem to be doing oddly shaped areas, so this works best. The bin on this holds probably 4 or 5 lbs. of grass seed, and 8 to 10 lbs. of fertilizer. It is about the correct amount to not make your arm too sore, balanced with filling it up too often. I have no real complaints other than the base seems to hold water after rinsing it out after use. I tilted it on its side and it seemed to drain out.

Purchased this to spread salt for ice melt in the winter. Worked great for 3 applications. Then the spindle locked up and the “blade” inside the bucket broke off. Cute and would have been great with the dewalt batteries but definitely not a great design.

I had been using a handheld battery powered spreader from I believe Scotts for a couple years. It was always an exercise in frustration using it - the little spinner at the bottom was weak and it seemed the thing would get clogged up all the time (I use it to spread fire ant bait all the time) I took a chance on this one and couldn't be happier with it! I use my dewalt batteries to power it and that is light years ahead of the 4AA's that the old unit used. Its got great power and has never clogged up. There are plenty of settings to control the discharge to the right amount. I also have used it to spread grass seed and that worked perfectly as well.

I used it the other day worked ok , but I washed it out only to find the thing holds water in the compartment where the gears and motor is . Took it apart and blew out the water. Hope I got it in time.
