The auger bit extension works efficiently and requires significantly less physical force to operate. Our augers will help you complete your task more efficiently, whatever soil or ground you are working on.
  • READY TO USE: Our auger's 3/8-inch non-slip hex drive can fit most cordless or electric drills. Simply tighten the drill chuck to secure the auger, and you're ready to dig. Its extended shaft will help save your back when digging holes. This contractor grade HD auger also includes an abrasion resistant tip, extending life of the unit by 3-4X. These augers are designed only for use with drills, not handheld and impact drivers.

  • The perfect auger!
I don’t know how I lived without this. I’ve planted thousands of bulbs in my lifetime and this made the process so quick and easy.

  • Dang. It is a marvel for digging holes for plants.
My wife thought that my using a pick to dig a hole for a 1 gallon tree last year took too long and was too much effort. I certainly thought so as well. It took a couple of hours trying to break through the hard clay soil in my South Carolina yard, even after filling the hole with water and letting it sit overnight to soften the soil, only to find the hole still full of water the next day. Well, a year has passed and now she wants the yard finished. I still wanted to plant the plants, but no way did I consider it a job to take on. She took it upon herself to do some research and she found this augur. Hmm, I hadn't considered an augur. But I ordered one. Since I really would need an appropriate drill to drive the augur, I added a corded Bauer 1/2" spade handle drill that is designed to mix concrete or drive an augur using low speed and high torque. Today I used the augur and drill to sink multiple holes and bore out the soil for a 3 gallon plant and shovel out the loose soil from the holes. It took little time, and by far less physical effort that my last attempt to excavate a planting space. The augur went though the soil without a problem. It looked like the video for this item digging a hole. The drill and augur combo was perfect. ... show more

  • Plant bulbs and small plants fast!
Using this auger with a Dewalt DCD999, and despite the clay soil and rocks, it really works well. This size (3") probably doesn't need such a heavy duty drill, but the combo excels in my heavy clay soil that can sometimes be hard to get a shovel into. With this Auger I can Easily dig holes to plant bulbs and small pint plants from the garden center, and the resulting removed soil is nicely broken down and easy to mix with compost and other amendments for backfilling, where digging out with a shovel I'm doing additional work to break up the solid chunks of clay soil. Digging multiple 3" holes can work well when planting larger plants; the auger breaks the soil up nicely which can then be easily removed with a shovel or a trowel. I upgrade to this 24" version after using my smaller one for years, it lets me dig while standing, much easier! ... show more

  • Wish I got this sooner!
I saw Laura on Garden Answer use one of these, so of course I went directly to Amazon to see what my options were. There are so many to choose from, but I went with the Power Planter because it is made in the USA and is sturdy. So glad I did! First off, I originally planned on using it with my standard Ryobi drill. But then after reading reviews I saw that it is recommended to use a side handle to prevent wrist turning, so my drill wouldnt work. I bought a Ryobi Hammer drill (here on amazon) that had the side handle, charged it up, and went to work! VERY easy to dig in my soil..I made sure I went slowly in case I hit a rock or root (it happens). Used it over the course of 3 days to plant about 500 plants. This cut down my time in half from what I wouldve done without the auger. AWESOME TOOL..highly recommended!! ... show more

  • My new 'best friend' in the garden......
Can an auger really help your gardening woes?? For me – the answer is an astounding YES!! This was the first year I decided to plant bulbs in my garden. With red clay that is full of rocks and mica, issues arise quickly with the types of tools that hold up to the rigors of our soil. Everything prior to this year has been placed in my garden by hand and the accompaniment of a shovel. Whew…..hard work to say the least. I decided to add an auger to my tools. The premise was to have a way to dig without as much stress on your back. After looking around for an auger that I hoped fit the bill, I decided to go with a Power Planter brand. The first reason was the idea that my purchase was supporting a small business. The second reason for opting for the Power Planter auger was the design. This auger was 100% made in the USA. I promise that this is almost unheard of in today’s world. Supporting individual in the United States through my purchase was important. I remember the days when stamping the ‘Made in the USA’ label on a product meant it would last for years to come. Hopefully – that is what I will find as time passes. Back to the auger, the design on the 3”x24” Extended Length Auger looked to be the type of ‘swirl’ that I felt would have the best chance when going up against the rigors of red, clay soil. The package arrived promptly. After quickly figuring out how to connect the auger to our cordless drill, I went to work in the garden. I was amazed at how quickly this auger made my soil seem like ‘child’s play’. That’s right….the red clay was no match for the Power Planter auger!! A task that normally would take hours was completed in less than half of an hour. I loved the way my husband (who wasn’t at all interested in hearing about an auger) quickly found his way in control of the drill/auger. After all – the hubs said he had to see how sturdy this product was for himself. The Power Planter passed the test!! Not only have I used the auger to plant bulbs, but I have found that planting other perennials can be accomplished in half the time when I use the auger. Spring planting was a breeze this year with the addition of this auger. Simply put – this product is worth its weight in gold as far as I am concerned. The Power Planter auger is a must have for anyone looking to lighten the burdens of digging and bending over when gardening!! ... show more

  • Too heavy 2 x 24 better choice
Think about the number of times you have to pick this up and hold it in place. I have the 2 x 24 and that is easy to manage. I understand that Laura with Garden Answer has asked for a revised drill bit that has less turn bits and therefore less weight. When my 2 x 24 wears out I will order her version. ... show more
