Screws into light socket easily. Provides TWO PRONG outlet--perfect for some things, but not suitable for three-prong (grounded) items. Actually, I was unable to find a grounded outlet that could screw into a light socket. If you think about the wiring of a lamp socket, a ground line could be attached to the housing but there is no place to connect a green ground wire to the socket itself. You only have gold screw (black wire) and silver screw (white wire) options in many cases. Several supposed "experts" told me to just yank the ground prong off whatever I planned to plug in. I reject that advice. Some tools are double-insulated and need just two prongs. Fine. Others are grounded, with three prongs, because that's how they are designed to be safe. Electricity can sting you, or it can kill you. If you're defeating the ground on an item that comes with a three-prong plug...please don't do it near me. One of these handy outlet plugs helped with tracing electrical circuits in my house. Used the Sperry Instruments CS550A Circuit Breaker Finder, Quickly Locate AC Circuits / Fuses, Visual LED, Plug Style Transmitter / Auto-Sensing Receiver, 80-140V, Yellow & Black , which worked well. The circuit breaker finder did not have an adapter to connect the transmitter to a hardwired lamp socket. With an outlet plug installed it was a piece of cake to trace. ... show more

Sometimes it's the stupid simple products that make life a bit better. This is one of those products. Having the ability to convert a standard screw-type bulb into an LED shop light or other low-power needs is a nice quick way to operate a piece of equipment without having to run extension cords or permanent wiring (especially in older houses that may not have easily accessible outlets in all corners of a room). I used this product to replace existing ceiling bulbs with 4' LED shop lights in both my garage and basement without having to wire or do anything significant and that is worth its weight in gold to me! ... show more

These outlet plugs were perfect for converting an awkward old ceiling fixture into a set of pendant bulbs. I was going for a "vintage" look and the visible plastic these are made of matches the vintage-y plugs I found exactly. They're also very tight fitting with the plugs, so I have no worries about the one bulb hanging directly from the socket. They come two to a packet and I accidentally ordered two so I have two extra, but I'm happy to hang on to them and see where else I might put them to use. ... show more

My patio doesn’t have a plug outlet. I had to pull the wire to my living room through the mesh door and sliding door which left a narrow slit that was very uncomfortable during cold. GE Polarized Handy Plug really works and it has a tight fit in the light socket. For some reason they do not sell the Handy Plug at any of our local hardware stores. I bought one something like this at the hardware store and I was not happy with the design at the time, but it was all I could get and all the hardware stores had the same thing. Well after using it for a while it did not really work because the wind would blow the cord and the lights would stop working because it was not a tight fit.
