The media could not be loaded. We needed a new manual post-hole digger around the farm, so we ordered this one. It requires basic assembly, and it's easy to put together. It works well for making smaller post holes, but it's also ideal for making holes for plants. The size matches the description, both in terms of the entire auger and the holes it creates. I've never had one like this; any that I've had in the past are solid and don't come apart. While I doubted the quality of it, this auger is decently durable. However, it could use some work. The bolts hold it together okay, but not tightly enough. After using it for 10 to 15 holes, I often have to tighten the bolts again. So far, that's the only downfall! ... show more

    • Handy Tool for Digging 4" Diameter Holes in Non-Compacted, Non-Rocky Soil
This is a review of Patioer's "Post Hole Digger Manual 4" x 41" Garden Auger Spiral Drill with T Shaped Handle for Digging Planting Bulb Bedding". Please note that my review comments are being made based on a physical inspection of the post hole digger. It's much too cold here to try to dig holes in the soil right now. I got this post hole digger to be able to dig holes for some light posts that will be 4-6" in diameter at the base. I'm hoping I can push a 6" diameter post into a 4" hole in the ground if the soil isn't too compacted. A regular shovel is no match for this post hole digger with a 4" diameter. All parts are painted with a glossy black paint. I'm fairly certain the paint will chip off the auger portion when/if I encounter any rocks in the soil. This post hole digger appears sturdy enough for soft soil and/or sand, but I'm afraid it may not hold up well in a gravelly soil with lots of stones in it. This is because the auger does not appear to have a good weld attaching it to the pole and the auger metal may deform if too much pressure is applied to it. If you read their product listing, you'll see they advise "This handy plant auger works well in various soils, best in soft garden soil and sand." ... show more
