I just received the Porto Mobility Ranger D09S a few days back and I could not be more happier. My wife has ALS, with limited mobility (difficulty walking, holding her head up) and this chair is perfect. I looked for something that was both rugged and lightweight as I am working on making my wife mobile both inside and outside of our home as well as being able to throw it in our truck and head to Ocean City to run on the boardwalk. The chair came fully assembled, less battery cables I had to connect (batteries already held a charge) and I had to switch the joy stick to a left handed mount as my wife’s right hand has become too weak. All was done in a few minutes with a screw driver and a handful of zip ties that I already had in my garage. The reason for the zip ties resulted from moving the joy stick to the left hand mount, so I had to cut the existing ties that held the cable tightly to the frame - very easy to do. Within 30 minutes to tinkering, I had the chair up and running with the mount switched and the batteries connected. The chair is both aesthetically pleasing, rugged, and light weight. As far as maneuvering, I have already tested it through the house and it turns tight circles even within a doorway. I went out to Porto Mobility’s website to look for accessories and two buy two more batteries - also bought a backpack that mounts on the back as well as a head rest as my wife now needs to wear a neck brace to hold her head up. This was not because the battery life was not good, I’m just one of those guys that likes to double down on everything, so I wanted 4 batteries to maximize life when we travel to Ocean City and other areas my wife loves. My #1 priority in life right now is to provide my wife maximum freedom to move around in the new house we built and to come outside with me as I work on our landscaping. This chair is perfect. I have an elevator lift being installed in our garage so we can get a wheel chair lifted to the house level and lowered to the garage to get in and out of the house - this chair is the perfect size for our lift. Another sign of quality and a confirmation I made the right purchase was a “hang up” phone call I made to Porto mobility with a question. I had gotten voice mail as I was up early Eastern time, but did not leave a voice mail. Al, from Porto Mobility called me back and could not have been nicer and more accommodating. I had some questions on how to chain the extra batteries together, which he answered easily. I could not be happier with the purchase. I had looked at the Jazzy first, but after pouring through reviews I was skeptical on the quality. I did some more research and Porto Mobility raised to the stop. Seeing this chair, I can see why. We purchased this chair for my brother a month ago. He was involved in a car accident over 10 years, leaving him with traumatic brain injury and wheelchair bound. We got the Ranger Discovery D09S, standard black. It has been challenging to transport him to places, such as shopping stores, parks, restaurants, etc., keeping his outings to a minimum such as doctor's appointments and some family outings. The regular wheelchairs have been too heavy to handle and the light wheelchairs not sturdy enough or comfortable for long use. We longed searched for a chair that would give him the ability to get around on his own and feel confident that he could manage it with ease, such as easy use of joystick and the amazing small turning radius. We also looked for a chair that would truly be portable allowing us to fold, carry and fit in our car or SUV. So far, this chair has met all expectations and my brother really thinks it's cool to have his own ride. If I had to comment on anything that could be improved on the chair, would be the height of the seat-to adjust to his legs so it rests better on the foot rest, we added an extra cushion for comfort and height and works great. The footrest is a bit awkward shaped and wish is was wider and even so his heels can fit better. We are very excited to take more trips to the stores and not worried about leaving my brother home because of how hard and time consuming it is to transport him. We will update as we start using it more but are very happy with purchase and can't wait to plan long car trips or even a plane trip in the future. ... show more

    • I can't steer it sometimes and I have scratch up my doors and door ways badly
The chair wheels ruined my carpet. I couldn't get the stains out. the chair steering is bad. My doors and doorways look awful. I had to replace my carpet with hardwood floors. I have repainted my doors and door ways 3 times. I want to keep my chair but I need help fixing it. Please

I don’t normally take time out to write reviews but I will for this product. I’m obesity, have arthritis and fibromyalgia. Due to my condition I really can’t walk or stand for too long. I’ve been a prisoner in my own home for the last 3 years. I have a scooter but can’t do much with it because it doesn’t fold or can’t fit in my car. So I decided that it’s time to take my life back and stop letting my condition keep me inside. I searched and searched the internet until I saw this Ranger “Lightweight” “All Terrain” Electric Wheelchair. Since I have an Amazon account, I had to see if Amazon sold it. If so, what did other people say. Well forget about what other people say. This chair has given me my freedom back. I’ve used it several times to go to the doctors and gone shopping by myself. It’s easy to fold and I haven’t had to charge the battery yet (2+wks). I was so surprise I was able to lift it up to the trunk of my car by myself.
