Description

The Hessaire 5,300 CFM Evaporative Cooler is compact in size, pleasing in aesthetics and the performance exceeds coolers of a much larger size. This performance is achieved through expanding air-intake areas to the hi-density XeL50 rigid media. These coolers have 3 media panels instead of a single panel found on most mobile coolers. 3 panels allow more air-intake area and reduce pre-rotation of the air to the prop, which translates into lower static pressure and more efficient air delivery to the prop. The hi-density XeL50 media provides 80% more evaporation surface compared to regular density media. This means higher evaporation efficiency and cooler temperatures. Note: This unit is NOT an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy and saves more on electricity costs. It is best used in dry climates or open spaces. Leave window/door open to limit the rise of humidity and keep better air ventilation in the room.

  • Powerful cooler
Size: 3,100 CFM
I waited until the end of summer to leave my review, so I could have an idea of how this evaporative cooler would hold up after months of use. I live in So Cal, and specifically bought this for work. I work in a large outdoor booth without any kind of cooling. After several summers of suffering from sweltering heat, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a portable swamp cooler. Initially I was hesitant, as a few hundred dollars is a lot to spend on something I’d likely only use for 3 or 4 months. But I am sooo glad I did! This cooler really does blow out cool air! I was surprised and delighted! The wheels glide across the concrete floor with ease, and the drain is easy to plug and unplug. I don’t have access to a hose, so I can’t attest to how the hose connector works. But it’s very easy to add water manually. And no leaks! You can also add small chunks of ice, although I don’t think using ice made much of a difference. Also, the little window showing the amount of water left in the tank is very convenient. Be prepared for the air flow being strong, and a bit loud. Even on low, which is the only setting I used. Being outdoors a little noise is not a big deal. But I think it might be too loud to use indoors. If I have one thing that’s negative, it’s that the latch on the manual fill door, which is only a tiny piece of plastic, broke after a couple of days. All in all, this portable cooler works great and was worth every penny! ... show more

  • Great Evaporative Cooler if You Live in Low Humidity Place
Size: 3,100 CFM
I live in Tucson, Arizona where many houses used to only have these units on the roof for cooling. We call them Swamp Coolers. They will only work in a low humidity environment or you might as well just buy a big fan. Water runs over the filters, the big fan sucks in warm air and evaporates the water, the temp is lowered up to 25 degrees, and you have nature’s air conditioning, just like you on a hot, sweaty, breezy, desert afternoon! I bought this in July. We were replacing a 16 yo Mobile Mastercool that was made of metal and the doors were rusted out at the bottom. I saw they had these at the local Big Box Hardware Store and I was skeptical because none were on display. I was able to get a better deal here so I gave it a shot. We use the cooler on our patio under our awning. As long as it isn’t monsoon season, it drops the temp a good 25 degrees. The 3-Fan speeds are great and the oscillating feature works great. I’ve told my wife several times to turn it down because I was freezing out on a 90 degree night. The fan is very powerful which helps with the evaporation off the side and back pads. My only complaints are the plastic back panel is a little flimsy and kind of a pain to seat. If you can get the float right, hopefully you are replacing the cardboard panels only once every couple years. Replace the cardboard panels you say. Depending on how hard the water is in your area the panels over time will build up scale on them and will no longer have a good flow for the water and will need to be replaced. I’ll admit I have gone five or more years at a time but it really does work best for airflow if you replace them every couple years. A lot of this does depend on the hardness of the water in your area. My second dislike about this unit is the float. It is a plastic apparatus set up that is positioned in the corner by the side panel. First of all make sure you cut away a little extra of the cardboard so the float can move freely. I have had a very hard time getting the float to stop where I want it to be so I can just leave the hose on. When it is really hot and evaporated quickly if I have the hose bib on a very low flow it often times just fills enough and doesn’t overflow. But once you turn the fan off when you come out in the next morning there will be all kinds of water on the ground around the unit. I’m sure I can fix this I just haven’t wanted to waste an hour and a half trying to get the level perfect. If it starts to overflow I just turn it off for a while. You can tell when it is running low by looking at the float on the front of the unit. I’m sure the manufacture will reply that you should never leave the hose bib on it unattended anyways. Overall I am extremely happy with this unit. I did buy an extended warranty to make sure that the unit would be covered at least for three years. I will give an updated review next year since now it is our fall/winter and we aren’t using the unit again until most likely April. ... show more

  • Great cooler - Case
Size: 3,100 CFM
I’ve seen other reviews of people complaining about it making their rooms humid and leaving negative reviews, but that isn’t a flaw with the product. This type of cooler works by evaporating the water you put into it, in turn removing heat from the air. As such, its intended use is as a spot cooler either outdoors or in a well ventilated area (such as a shed with the door open). And let me tell you, this cooler does an excellent job at spot cooling. On a hot day it’s the best thing ever to take a break and cool down in front of this cooler. I’ve also seen people complaining about how loud it is, but again, it’s designed to be used outdoors and I don’t think it’s even close to too loud when used as such. The plastic case seems a little bit flimsy, but for the price I don’t think it’s too bad. For filling, this cooler has a brass port to attach a hose, and a float valve to keep it full without overfilling. It also has a door on the front so that you can put water in that way. I normally just fill it with a hose from the door, because it’s only used a couple times a day and the water reservoir is large enough to last 2 to 3 hours of runtime on the highest fan setting. That way I don’t have to run a hose to it. Anyway, this makes a great stationary spot cooler for use in a shed, I just wouldn’t recommend using it as a portable cooler as I’d be worried that the case would be damaged rather quickly. Overall I’m happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who works outdoors in a hot place with low humidity. ... show more
