Description

Evaporative cooling fans are designed to pull hot, dry air through a water- soaked media filter using a water pump and fan. As the water evaporates into the air, the air's temperature will lower. They are optimal when used in hot, dry climates used to filter ambient air while increasing the condensation and delivering cool airflow. Evaporative cooling fans do not use refrigerants to remove heat like an air conditioner, so they are less effective in high humidity areas.Hessaire’s MC37M is the best and most effective cooling fan on the market for its size. It’s compact and yet packs a powerful blast of cooling with a patented winged prop design and three panels of high-density rigid media. Take it on the go easily with its four casters. It features oscillating louvers to cover a wide area quietly and efficiently. The manual controls make it easy for you to adjust between the four temperature settings to obtain optimal cooling anywhere you take the MC37M Evaporative Cooler.Cooling the air is only a part of the process; propelling the chilled air into your space is what brings you needed relief. Specially engineered features from Hessaire allows this mobile evaporative cooler to provide an airflow of 3,100 CFM to your area. Proprietary fan propeller design with winglets throws the blast of cool air further and yet is very quiet. Additionally, the air swing delivery system moves cool air left to right across the room to ensure that air is evenly distributed.

  • Powerful cooler
Size: 3,100 CFM
I waited until the end of summer to leave my review, so I could have an idea of how this evaporative cooler would hold up after months of use. I live in So Cal, and specifically bought this for work. I work in a large outdoor booth without any kind of cooling. After several summers of suffering from sweltering heat, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a portable swamp cooler. Initially I was hesitant, as a few hundred dollars is a lot to spend on something I’d likely only use for 3 or 4 months. But I am sooo glad I did! This cooler really does blow out cool air! I was surprised and delighted! The wheels glide across the concrete floor with ease, and the drain is easy to plug and unplug. I don’t have access to a hose, so I can’t attest to how the hose connector works. But it’s very easy to add water manually. And no leaks! You can also add small chunks of ice, although I don’t think using ice made much of a difference. Also, the little window showing the amount of water left in the tank is very convenient. Be prepared for the air flow being strong, and a bit loud. Even on low, which is the only setting I used. Being outdoors a little noise is not a big deal. But I think it might be too loud to use indoors. If I have one thing that’s negative, it’s that the latch on the manual fill door, which is only a tiny piece of plastic, broke after a couple of days. All in all, this portable cooler works great and was worth every penny! ... show more

  • Love this thing!
Size: 3,100 CFM
This is a great portable cooler. I debated whether to get a whole home cooler or just a portable cooler. I’m glad I went this route as many reviews had varying ratings. Here’s my situation which may help others decide. I have a 2 story home. The upstairs is approximately 900 sq ft and is basically an open floor plan loft which has a bedroom, bathroom, and livingroom area. The downstairs is about 2200 sq ft that has the livingroom and kitchen centrally located with other rooms located around this central location. I explain this because I get great circulation in my home due to the layout. I live in SW Colorado and our typical humidity in the summer season is under 20% and most of my home never gets direct sun for too long in one location. Due to this, my home rarely gets warm until about 3-4pm in the west side. And it’s only gets a bit warm for me until about 8-9pm when the heat breaks due to the sun setting. So with that info, I bought the unit for approximately 900 sq ft. I placed my unit in the western most room and have it facing at an angle towards my centrally located rooms which is the livingroom and kitchen. On Low Setting, this thing easily knocks the heat out on the main floor. I’ve not had to use the Medium or High Settings what-so-ever even in mid to high 90s. I run a window fan upstairs to just pull heat out of the upstairs, run my ceiling fans (2) per normal, and typically I don’t have to open up any windows downstairs. While it’s recommended to run in front of an open door or window, I never do. When it begins to cool off in the evening, I may or may not open up a window while this thing is running. Due to how dry it is out here, typically I do not get any mugginess in the home from running as I do. Your situation may differ depending on humidity. Installation of the wheels was a breeze. The only thing I’d suggest is DO NOT use power tools such as a drill driver and DO NOT over tighten the screws for the wheels. I just hand tightened to snug and had zero issues with stripping out the plastic. You just have to take care. My wheels were loose within the box as the plastic storage cover was not securely screwed down. It was a non-issue for me and I didn’t have to build any wood base. The only real issue I had was the whole thing is molded plastic and my water storage section has a small area that is a tad warped. It was also a non-issue for me. As for loudness... I can hear my tv just fine with it on Low and I’m sure would hear everything just fine on the other settings. When I set a box fan next to it, I can hear the box fan on low over the cooler to give ya an idea. The only part that I find a bit annoying is the oscillating setting. It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic with just little creaks. I’m sure a little Teflon spray, chain wax spray, or even a little WD-40 could curb that, but I don’t bother with the setting. All in all this is a great cooler and I waited to pick it up when it had a price reduction. It cools pretty much my entire downstairs, with the central house receiving the most benefit and the hallway and rooms that the breeze is directed towards in my home. I’d say it easily knocks the home temp into the mid to low 70s for about 1500 of the almost 2200 square feet I have in the main level and that’s on low. The remaining 700 sq ft is cooler, but not as noticeable. It could be if I ran it on the other settings, but no one is in those rooms or upstairs until after 9pm and my house is opened up at that point since I get temp drops of 25-30+ degrees when that sun sets. If you have my situation, this thing will easily cool your main level of your home beyond it’s minimums depending on your situation. I’ll end this review with this thought, just take into consideration your home layout, your typical humidity, the rooms that actually need cooling during the times it’s uncomfortable for you. Each situation is different. My cooler usually only gets run on 85+ degree days for about 4-6 hours, due to my locale. Once the outside temp drops into the 70s, my home gets opened up. Your situation may vary. ... show more

  • Does what’s on the tin, with a few gripes and a nitpick.
Size: 3,100 CFM
I’ll keep this review simple. I’ve had this fan about a month now, and I’ve been using it nearly constantly in my garage. I live in Phoenix, so it gets a good workout. The good: It does its job and does it well. When I’m in the path of the fan I’m quite comfortable in my garage. It moves a lot of air and humidifies the dry Arizona nightmare-summers, which is a plus for me but maybe not so much for others. The bad: The material isn’t the best quality. Yeah, others have said it’s plastic, but when it’s constantly exposed to water that’s kind of what you want unless you want it to turn into a heap of rust within a week or two of use. Still, the quality of plastic could’ve been a bit better. Second, the hose attachment does NOT function on mine. I’ve tried everything short of pulling the device apart (an endeavour I’ve simply decided is not worth the hassle and risk of breaking the thing with my stupidity) to fix it. It is simply non-operational. A full tank lasts about four hours and my hose fills it in about thirty seconds anyway, so it’s kind of a small gripe in the grand scheme of things. This is, however, the main reason I knocked a star when combined with the quality of the plastic. At this price point, I expected just a bit more than I got, but not enough for me to be unhappy with the purchase at all. A nitpick: This thing is loud. It moves a lot of air, so I expected it to be loud and I use it in my garage so that’s not a huge problem for me, but if you’re expecting something quiet … what are you doing here? Really, no, go get an air conditioner, swamp coolers aren’t generally quiet. ... show more

  • Excellent Evaporative Cooler!
Size: 3,100 CFM
OK, let's get the basics out of the way. Evaporative (swamp) coolers work best when you live in a dry climate. If you live in an area with high humidity, they don't make the air cooler, they just make it wetter. Got it? I'm baffled by the bad reviews from people living in 80-100% humidity complaining about a swamp cooler not cooling. If you live in Mississippi, don't buy this. It won't work. You need refrigerated air. But for those of us in the desert SW, this unit is a Godsend. It cools VERY well. It holds 10 gallons of water, or you can hook it directly to a hose (recommended). Turn the pump on first, let it soak the pads for about 1 minute, and turn the fan on. The pump moves a lot of water, and soaks the pads quickly. The pad material is very efficient. So efficient, in fact, that I estimate the unit uses about a gallon of water every 15 minutes. See why hooking it to the hose is a good idea? But it also has a gauge where you can tell how much water is in the unit at a glance. If you plan on using it indoors, position it where it can draw in hot outdoor air and exhaust through another opening, like a window or door. I use it in my garage and storage barn, and just place it in front of the access door. Draws air in from the bottom, exhausts it out the top. Easy peasy. Cools the area without getting too muggy. It has 3 fan speeds, and moves a LOT of air. The low speed is usually sufficient. And it works fantastic outdoors. Yard work, wrenching on the car, enjoying the patio, you name it....this unit will keep you comfortable. Build quality seems good. I like that it's plastic and won't rust. If I have any complaint, the plastic seems a bit cheap, and the fit and finish is mediocre. But these are very minor flaws on an otherwise great product. It has locking casters and rolls easily....and when you're ready to move it, just pull the drain plug and let the water out...and then the unit is light weight. All in all, I couldn't be happier with it. My only regret is not buying it ages ago. If you're torn between which portable swamp cooler to buy, go with this one. Excellent bang for the buck! ... show more

  • Great Evaporative Cooler if You Live in Low Humidity Place
Size: 3,100 CFM
I live in Tucson, Arizona where many houses used to only have these units on the roof for cooling. We call them Swamp Coolers. They will only work in a low humidity environment or you might as well just buy a big fan. Water runs over the filters, the big fan sucks in warm air and evaporates the water, the temp is lowered up to 25 degrees, and you have nature’s air conditioning, just like you on a hot, sweaty, breezy, desert afternoon! I bought this in July. We were replacing a 16 yo Mobile Mastercool that was made of metal and the doors were rusted out at the bottom. I saw they had these at the local Big Box Hardware Store and I was skeptical because none were on display. I was able to get a better deal here so I gave it a shot. We use the cooler on our patio under our awning. As long as it isn’t monsoon season, it drops the temp a good 25 degrees. The 3-Fan speeds are great and the oscillating feature works great. I’ve told my wife several times to turn it down because I was freezing out on a 90 degree night. The fan is very powerful which helps with the evaporation off the side and back pads. My only complaints are the plastic back panel is a little flimsy and kind of a pain to seat. If you can get the float right, hopefully you are replacing the cardboard panels only once every couple years. Replace the cardboard panels you say. Depending on how hard the water is in your area the panels over time will build up scale on them and will no longer have a good flow for the water and will need to be replaced. I’ll admit I have gone five or more years at a time but it really does work best for airflow if you replace them every couple years. A lot of this does depend on the hardness of the water in your area. My second dislike about this unit is the float. It is a plastic apparatus set up that is positioned in the corner by the side panel. First of all make sure you cut away a little extra of the cardboard so the float can move freely. I have had a very hard time getting the float to stop where I want it to be so I can just leave the hose on. When it is really hot and evaporated quickly if I have the hose bib on a very low flow it often times just fills enough and doesn’t overflow. But once you turn the fan off when you come out in the next morning there will be all kinds of water on the ground around the unit. I’m sure I can fix this I just haven’t wanted to waste an hour and a half trying to get the level perfect. If it starts to overflow I just turn it off for a while. You can tell when it is running low by looking at the float on the front of the unit. I’m sure the manufacture will reply that you should never leave the hose bib on it unattended anyways. Overall I am extremely happy with this unit. I did buy an extended warranty to make sure that the unit would be covered at least for three years. I will give an updated review next year since now it is our fall/winter and we aren’t using the unit again until most likely April. ... show more

  • Using in Bonsai Enclosure Area
Size: 3,100 CFM
My husband started his hobby of bonsai trees about 5 years ago. Living here in the desert (Phoenix, AZ) area, it gets very hot and most of the year, it's very dry. Many of his bonsai trees (maples, larches, pines) grow in more humid environments. In past year, we would spray down the area (we have sunblocks and netting that makes it like a greenhouse type enclosure, but not) like the walls to keep the area cooler. We have a high water bill in the warmer months. And it's a pain in the butt to drag the water hose into the area and spray it down several times a day. My husband has AccuRite temperature gauges throughout his bonsai area so he knows the temperatures throughout the enclosure. We originally bought 2 evaporative coolers that are close to $200 each. Their vanes do not move (stationary). This didn't cover the whole area. My husband had on his Wishlist this Hessaire evap but it was over $500 and that was just way too expensive. We committed to not charging on our Amazon storecard what we cannot pay off and we had paid off our card. Didn't want to once again rack up the bill and let the credit card company make money from us. We prayed and asked if God wanted us to have it, He would provide a way. I think within a week or so, the price dropped to under $300, which made it way more affordable and we bought it. This was last summer. The price is still below $300 and my husband has been wanting to replace the other 2 stationary evaps with 1 of these Hessaire ones. God has greatly blessed us and I asked my husband why he hadn't already purchased the 2nd Hessaire. So last week he purchased it for around the same price or slightly less than the 1st one. The price probably will go up when the evaps are more in demand, so I wanted him to get it while the price was still good. Our bonsai enclosure area is probably 12' x 30'. There are sunblocks that cover the ceiling and the sides (walls) of the enclosure, so still allowing for good airflow. We're hoping with the combination of these two Hessaire evaps they will keep the bonsai area cool and the air with more moisture. We have two 55 gallon tanks that contain reverse osmosis water from our high pressure Hydrologic RO system that has Smart float levelers. There are also Smart valves we can control on our phone when to release water from the tanks to the the Hessaire evaps to refill them. We have Kasa Smart Plugs that are connected to the evaps, so we can remotely turn the evaps on. Water refill is turned on remotely too. So we can actually take a day or so out of town during the hot months and not worry whether our bonsai trees are getting cool enough air or not. We also have a smart watering system to water our trees, too. Hessaire evaps are allowing my husband to realize his bonsai dream without all the work we've been doing over the past 4-5 years to keep our trees alive. We are so grateful. ... show more

  • Loud Evap Cooler With Zero Service For Broken Part
Size: 3,100 CFM
I purchased this Evap Cooler to cool off my Greenhouse. The unit came quickly and was easy to setup. The only task is attaching the caster wheels. I connected the hose with the included nozzle and waited for it to fill. Waited.....Waited....Nothing. The hose was turned on, water flowed thru it but the float valve inside of the unit would not open its valve. I added water manually thru the front latch door and the unit did operate. It is very loud. Especially on the highest fan setting. Testing the unit with a sound meter shows between 68 - 75. 75 decibels can be annoyingly loud to some people. I am one of those people. Compare that sound level to A/C powered vacuum cleaner. By comparison, The Honeywell Evap Cooler that I purchased a month ago registers 71 on its highest setting. Decibels are an incremental scale, not linear so there is large difference between 71 and 75 Since its arrival I have been trying to work thru Amazon and Hessaire to get a replacement float valve. Hessaire has no customer service phone number so the requests just go into the website and remain unanswered. Amazon seemed concerned but only offered to replace the entire unit, which is large and heavy. Using the instructions that came with the unit, I tried to adjust the valve. The valve only operated when the unit was almost completely empty and the pump was sucking air instead of water. I tried to adjust it, but it would hit the plastic housing preventing me to raise the ball (like a float valve in a toilet, but entirely plastic) I regret trying to save a few dollars by buying the Hessaire unit instead of another Honeywell. The Honeywell works perfectly and is quieter. One year later, the unit died. It popped the circuit it was on when I tried to turn it on. I ordered a part from Hessaire, two weeks later still waiting for the part. Horrible machine and a waste of money ... show more
