I would like a partial refund for the fact that it was used and I was not made aware. I still like the machine though. I just feel like I paid for a new one and I did not receive that

First of all, this took over a month to arrive. When it FINALLY showed up and I opened the box, it was used and someone's sewing project was still in it! My pictures are of the machine right out of the box. I've never used a sewing machine before and the directions were moderately helpful. They label all the pieces and parts which is nice for someone like me who doesn't know the lingo. There's directions on how to thread the thread both on the side of the machine and in tbe directions which was very helpful. I tried out all the 12 sewing patterns and most of them worked great. One of them got the thread jammed up around inside of it which was a whole ordeal but otherwise I was able to get it figured out and using it to make things in less than 30 min. It comes with an optional foot pedal for control or you can use the slide button on the side. It has 2 speeds, low and high which are nice especially for beginners. The size is great, it's smaller and compact. It comes with everything you need to get started.

I know how to do some basic sewing by hand, but have never had access to a sewing machine or been taught to use one. It’s always been a goal of mine to learn how to use a sewing machine and be able to actually make things and do more than just minor repairs. This affordable little machine seems like it will be the perfect way to learn sewing techniques and teach myself to make things. There is an instruction book that tells you how to thread the machine and operate it, but my machine came pre-threaded and had a little piece of fabric already loaded to practice on. I couldn’t wait to try it out, so I immediately connected the foot pedal and power cord and set to practicing the sample fabric. There are thirteen different stitches you can do and there is a chart on the side of the machine that shows each stitch and the number you need to turn to on the dial to use that stitch. You can leave the power switch off and use the foot pedal to operate it or just switch the power to low or high for it to automatically run without the use of the foot pedal. The machine is quiet enough and seemed to move smoothly and easily. There is a built in light in case you need to see more clearly while you’re using the machine. It also comes with a cute little zippered pouch that contains eighteen rolls of different thread colors, assorted needles, safety pins, scissors, buttons, snaps, a tape measure, a tiny magnifying glass and a few other sewing accessories. I’ll have to take the time to watch some online tutorials to really learn how to make the most of this machine, but I have no doubt that I will be able to do a lot with it and that it is the perfect starter sewing machine with all the accessories I could need for a newbie like me.

The media could not be loaded. I believe they designed this machine with the idea of it being inexpensive so they have used plastic parts for everything that was reasonable to do so. The parts that need to be metal, are metal, but because there is so much plastic I think you are wise to be careful to never drop it. As far as how it works, I was quite surprised that it worked as well as it did right out-of-the-box. They had actually threaded the machine and run a little test on a small piece of fabric, and then left the fabric under the foot. When I unpacked it, I wondered if it had been used but I saw some other reviews that stated the same thing so I think they just wanted to make sure every machine worked when they sent it out. I consider that admirable and a good indication that their customer service is good. Besides the thread and bobbin that were installed there is also 2 extra bobbins and a roll of black thread and white thread. They also include a sewing kit with a lot of accessories including about a dozen rolls of various colored threads, although those are not on the same kind of spool so I'm not sure if they will work on the thread holder of the machine. The machine does have a bobbin Winder as well as a light that you can turn on to help see what you're doing. There is a foot pedal, but it is very tiny. It does work OK but it is made of plastic and I'm not sure how fragile it is so I probably should be careful with it. You can run it on batteries which are not included or you can use the included power adapter to plug it in. I would not call this a toy because it actually does a good job of what it is intended for. It is not something I would recommend using as a professional machine but it is certainly acceptable to get someone started with a sewing machine for a very reasonable price. My philosophy is that, for a rating system to be effective, the highest rating and the lowest rating should be reserved for a relatively small percentage of the best and the worst products. I DON'T take into consideration prices or issues with shipping. I stick to a fair and honest evaluation of the product itself. Following is each of the five categories of *stars* and how I assign them to a product: ***** Five stars - Exceeded my expectations. I really love it! **** Four stars - Met my expectations. I like it and recommend it. *** Three stars - Average- some pros but some notable cons. ** Two stars - Disappointed- few pros and too many cons. * One star - Terrible! Stay away from it! I don't often give five stars for something unless I really love it and I rarely give one star. Hopefully this helps you to understand why I gave my star rating to this product. This is a great machine for any beginner or novice seamstress. If you are learning to sew, this machine allows for you to learn several techniques without getting frustrated. The bobbins were easy to creating for the bottom stitch and I loved the different variety of stitches for any type of quilting projects. The machine is compact and fits well on a standard desk and doesn't require a lot of space. You can even keep it in a cabinet and use it on the dining room table if you don't have space to keep it out all the time. It's not very heavy and can get pushed over pretty easity, so you will want to be gentle when threading needles and selecting stitch types. Overall, it was a great beginner machine and will make a great teaching machine for anyone looking to start sewing.
