  • Great little dishwasher
Lasted me almost 5 years. Three months shy from the time I bought it. I say that's pretty good for a small dishwasher. The heating unit died on me and it hopped along for a little while longer but now the error codes are going off and I can't fix it. But I've been pleased with the performance. It gets the dishes nice and clean, easy to use, and quiet ... show more

  • A Workhorse- Close to Perfect
I had to give this workhorse dishwasher 5-stars because of how well it works and cleans but the instruction manual is not as good as it could be and I do have to clean out the water sprayers every week or so. I was looking for a countertop dishwasher to use and I have a fancier faucet that would not allow a cord to be attached, so I needed one with a fill-up tank. I spent about two weeks looking at the reviews of almost every countertop dishwasher that you could buy and almost every model seemed to have about 10% of the customers getting a poorly functioning or a non-functioning dishwasher (with E4 computer chip errors, etc.) from the start. This Kapas Countertop Dishwasher was the only one with very low negative ratings, so I decided to get it and it has been a great little machine. When installing the drain hose, I followed the owner's manual but it was mainly based on illustrations and simple instructions. I could have used more instructions because after 2 weeks of use, I received a 'b' error code and that was not in the instruction manual. When that appeared, I could see that the sprayers weren't working, so I popped them off (like the images in the instruction manual indicated) and cleaned the spray holes with a pipe-cleaner tool. When I put them back on again, they worked right away and the 'b' code disappeared. Then a few weeks later, the 'b' code appeared again. I did the same cleaning process on the sprayers and they worked right away, so I have to assume that the 'b' code means 'blocked', even though it wasn't listed in the owner's manual. Now I just pop off the sprayers every 7-10 days and use a pipe cleaner tool around the spray holes and I have not had the 'b' code since and I have had this unit almost 5 months now. The upper sprayer can be harder to thread on and it sometimes takes a few tries. I followed the advice from other reviewers and I always fill the tank with hot water (then the machine heats that hot water even further) and it has cleaned the dishes beautifully. I also like having a removable silverware tray because that allows me to wash my mixing bowl from my Kitchen-aide mixer or my large Crock-pot ceramic insert or my large multi-cooker/ electric pressure cooker bowl inside. That was a pleasant surprise because I wasn't sure they would fit inside when I bought the machine. I can also wash my tall glass water bottles if I put them in and tilt them on a slight angle (which allows the dish-washing spray to reach the tops of the bottles. When the dishwasher is heating the water at the start of the load it makes more noise, but I wouldn't call it "loud." Once the hot water is flowing, it quiets down and is very quiet through the rest if the cycle. I usually run it at night because it is so quiet. It beeps one time when the washing and rinsing cycles are done so you know it is moving into drying mode and it beeps again when it is finished. The dryer works well on silverware and dishware but I usually have to dry the plastic dishes with a dishtowel before I put them away (a minor inconvenience when compared with the convenience of not having to wash dishes by hand.) I have tried most of the cycles and they all work as described but I prefer Standard most of the time. It takes about an hour and a half to wash and dry the dishes using that setting. This dishwasher has been energy efficient as I do 1-2 loads a day. Our electric bill only increased about $4 per month for all of those loads, so it has been cost-efficient. Because it uses less water and is so good on electricity, it is more earth-friendly than handwashing dishes. I also use a biodegradable soap and have found Better Life Dishwasher Gel to be cost-effective and I like that it isn't harmful to the environment. As I said at the start, this dishwasher isn't perfect but it is very good. On Thanksgiving, I ran 6 loads, one right after the other, and it cleaned the last batch as well as it did the first. I have been pleased that it has turned out to be such a great dishwasher, a true workhorse, and I would recommend it to anyone (as long as you are prepared to clean the sprayers every couple of weeks.) ... show more

  • Best machine !
Absolutely fantastic machine! High quality build and performance. I can’t believe how well this little machine works but does it ever! Dries well and perfectly fits on my countertop. It cleans extremely well for a small unit. The power is perfect, draws less amps and watts than a space heater. The value for money is definitely worth it! Highly recommend the purchase and stop hand washing dishes and let this machine do it for you. I use a regular little pod and pop it into the tray and watch it go to work! The dryer is good and the spray arms seem to really clean up well. The interface is pretty easy to use as to be perfectly honest the instructions booklet isn’t that helpful. I took out the rack for the silverware since its too small and doesn’t let me fit in plates and whatnot. Main cycle is 69 minutes and the dryer is 60. The weird thing is that the unit when its done drying just says 6. Dont know why but who cares it works great. ... show more

  • Perfect for me.
I have a regular size dishwasher, but I live alone now, and it is too expensive to run the full-size dishwasher for the few dishes I use each day. This is the perfect size. I load dishes during the day and run it after my last meal of the day. It is very quiet. The dishes come out very clean and I am confident it is more energy efficient and uses less water than washing dishes by hand. As for being good for small spaces, that is a matter of opinion. It is too tall to fit beneath an upper cabinet. It is actually 18" tall. Even if it was 17 or 17 1/2", you would not be able to fill it if it was underneath a cabinet unless you hook it up directly to your faucet. This was not a problem for me, since I have a big kitchen. I purchased a small stand to put it on. However, now I have to drain it into a bucket because it is too low and too far away from the sink to run the drain hose to the sink. A minor inconvenience. The other thing that is a bit misleading is that it states 3 "cups" of water. I read the reviews and knew before I bought it that this doesn't mean 3 8-ounce cups. It comes with a pitcher to fill it and it takes 3 pitchers to fill the dishwasher for the standard setting...or about 5 quarts of water. The manual was obviously written by non-English speaking people and is quite hilarious but adequate. There is one thing that is not in the manual, and I have not been able to figure out what it means. After the end of the dry cycle, the display still shows "DRY" and there is a number 6. I don't know what that means. It is not explained in the manual, and I was not able to find anything online to explain this. Also, there is something in the manual about circulating fresh air for 73 hours for storage, "if selected." How do you "select" this? There is no explanation that I found. I don't need that feature as I will be using the dishwasher daily, so it is not a big deal. Finally, the dishes are dry at the end of the cycle, but there are still small puddles of water in the bottom of the dishwasher that I have to use a towel to dry. I have only used it 3 times, but so far, despite the very minor inconveniences, I love it. It is the perfect size for me and does the job as intended. ... show more

  • If you live in an apartment, this is the dishwasher for you If you live in an apartment, this is the dishwasher for you
This little dishwasher is a monster. I've had it for around 3 years, and finally I decided to stop using it because we moved and have a larger dishwasher. But I will say that it has never once failed, and it washes dishes better than the large dishwasher we currently have. You can't fit a whole lot in there, but you can fit a good amount of full size plates in there. I purchased a separate silverware rack because the one that came with it is kind of annoying to use, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this thing is awesome. I think I might move this to the camper because you have the ability to just pour water into the top and let the drain go right into the gray water. You can do a quick wash which is like 29 minutes and it gets almost everything off that way. It also has a dryer built into it and it has a fan that runs for a while that keeps the dishes fresh. It is very well built for what it is, and I am going to miss it. ... show more

  • Best Money I've Ever Spent Best Money I've Ever Spent
I live in a small rental, I hate doing dishes and quickly fall into a vicious cycle where I don't clean then my dirty house makes me depressed then I'm depressed so I don't clean. This dishwasher was literally life changing. I have had it for two years now and had zero issues. There are a couple things I have learned about the dishwasher that could be seen as cons but in no way outweigh just how wonderful this little machine is. The drying cycle makes a high pitched noise that I do not love. Glass comes out streaky when I use the drying anyways so I just turn the dishwasher off, open the door, and pull out the rack to air dry. Pods contain too much soap for such a small machine and leave residue, I use a generic powder detergent and fill the cup in the door. I initially hooked it up directly to my faucet which was nice in some ways but I found that it lost its "set it and forget it" ability. You have to leave your tap on during the cycle then turn it off after. I like to start my dishwasher and go to bed so I ended up going back to the top fill option. The filling pitcher doesn't work well for me, maybe if you are taller or your dishwasher is placed lower it would work for you but I end up missing the target and pouring water everywhere. My sink sprayer hose reaches just right to the top, I drape a tea towel over the top of my hand/the dishwasher to contain the spray back when I fill it. Works perfectly. I think the upper cutlery rack blocks the jets from above and hinders cleaning. I got rid of my upper rack and got a utensil cup from Amazon, with the rack gone I can fit full size dinner plates and my small cutting board. I always fill with hot water and I always use the quick setting. This machine is plenty powerful and gets things very clean. Sometimes I get lazy with cleaning the filter and have a load come out with food still on it. Quick rinse of the filter, run it again and dishes come out clean. The picture shows a very light load, I generally cram a lot more dishes in there. I purposefully bought pots and pans that fit in this dishwasher(again removing the cutlery rack makes space for much larger items). This dishwasher was very helpful when I was providing full time care to my newborn niece as well. I used the fruit basket for nipples, bottle collars, and other little parts that some bottles have. Everything comes out absolutely steaming. Far more sanitary than my hand washing abilities. I have used this machine 1 to 5 times a day every day for 2 years and would not want to live without it. Worth every penny and worth every bit of my limited counter space it takes up. ... show more

  • A Life Changer -- But REMOVE THE SILVERWARE SHELF!! A Life Changer -- But REMOVE THE SILVERWARE SHELF!!
I have a tiny NYC tenement kitchen. I've upgraded the fridge and oven to the extent that space allowed, but I hated not having a dishwasher. Now that I this have one, and it has truly changed my life. It has multiple settings, but I generally use the Quick Wash, 29 minutes plus a one hour heated dry cycle. It has a small detergent well that uses only a little more than a tablespoon of Cascade liquid per wash. There is a sliding drawer on the top for silverware -- you can see the tracks for it in the photo. My 10" plates (which is the standard size) wouldn't fit beneath the rack, so I removed it, and took the silverware container from my metal dish strainer and put it in the bottom rack (see photo) of the dishwasher and secured it with a twist tie. (It was stable without, but if all the knives, which are heavy, were on one side it would tilt.). I recommend removing the top rack, and puttingt in the silverware holder from a cheap Rubbermade /Dollor Store dish strainer, and just tossing the straining rack. I didn't connect it to my faucet, because my faucet has a detachable spray/stream head. I can hook it to the top opening and let it fill. I just wait for the beeping that says it's full (about 70 seconds), and I'm done. (I also refill it after every load, so it's always ready to go.) At first my glassware was spotty and needed to be wiped. Then I realized on Quick Wash it pauses at 18 minutes (that sound is my cue to go into the kitchen, though it's so quiet I have Alexa set a 12 minute timer at the start of the cycle), and at 17 minutes, it drains. I then pause the cycle, and put just 3 drops of Cascade Rinse Aid onto the bottom of the washer -- spotting problem solved! It washes again until the 14 minus mark, when it empties again, and refills from the well for the final hot water cycle. It then does a heated dry cycle, but if I'm in a hurry to do another load, I put the wet dishes in the old stainless steel rack, which lives permanently atop the unit. The hose drains into my sink — I cut the drain hose cuz it was way longer than I needed it to be, and can either use the suction cup to anchor it to the sink, or let it float free, as in the photo. (And another benefit of the hot water draining 3 times, is when I have a large skillet or pot, I put it beneath the drain hose, so the dirty pot/pan is flooded with hot water — hot SOAPY water after the first cycle — and hence that much easier to clean. It fits the dishes, glassware and utensils from dinner for two with space to spare. It's so fast I do a load of the dishes I used while preparing the meal (spatulas/utensils, mixing bowls, small cutting board, etc...) and they're clean long before I clear the dinner plates and glasses, which become the second load. And its pretty quiet -- can't hear it in the LR of a SMALL apartment with the tv on, and I have a tv in the kitchen, which is perfectly audible above the sound of the wash cycle when I'm cooking. Do make sure to scrape all food off the plates -- it has e a filter that catches anything left on plates, but a quick scrape/rinse saves having to clean the trap (which is easily done). I've had it for over a year, and I LOVE IT!!! ... show more

  • Works really well
I have used this dishwasher every day since I bought it. sometimes twice a day. To me it is rather large to sit on the counter. I have an old kitchen and my cabinets are too low so it won't fit underneath them. I do have one counter that has no cupboard above it, but I felt it was just too intrusive to sit there. But what did work was to use a space under the counter where there was no base cabinet. Maybe it was for garbage cans or something like that originally. We modified a small wheeled cart and the dishwasher sits on the cart under the counter. I roll it to the sink when I use it. Three pitchers of water and the drainage hose rests in the sink. Pretty easy to use and out of the way when not in use. I find it so easy to operate. I mostly use the 29 minute quick cycle. So far it has gotten the dishes very clean and I have not had a problem with etching on glassware or spots. I usually open the dishwasher and remove the dishes before the drying cycle as the dishes are so hot that they dry quickly as I put them away. A half hour and it's all done. I find it very quiet, easy to use and efficient. I can get a days worth of dishes in it. Just now I unloaded 7 bowls, 1 plate 5 glasses and 2 coffee travel mugs. Plus sliverware. I would think if you had a bigger dishwasher and could put more in it, it would sit long enough that it might start to smell. And you would need more dishes. It's just the 2 of us and I am very happy with this little unit. If I could change anything, I would make it wider (not taller) and it would fit my space better and I would be able to get just a little bit more in it. And I would like it stainless instead of white. I have seen ones like this, but not one that I can fill from the top that doesn't need to hook it up to a faucet. My faucet isn't the kind that you can hook up to very easy. If I ever find one like that I will give this one to my Grandson (for his apartment) and go with that one. So if anyone knows of one like that, let me know. Until then.............. ... show more
