🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviewers indicate that the SPT dishwasher performs its function well and is particularly suitable for small apartments. Users emphasise that it is compact, easy to operate, and delivers clean, dry dishes. However, there have been several mentions of the unit arriving with dents and faulty hoses. One caveat from users is to ensure that all hose connections are tight and sealed to prevent leaks, and high-quality dishwasher detergent is recommended for best results.

Pros

  • 🌟 Compact design suitable for small living spaces
  • 🌟 Easy to program with several different settings
  • 🌟 Effective dish washing and drying when used with quality detergent
  • 🌟 Includes a faucet adaptor for improved water flow

Cons

  • ⚠️ Units often arrive with dents, possibly due to shipping
  • ⚠️ Some users experienced leakage issues from the hose connection
  • ⚠️ Hoses don't store conveniently
  • ⚠️ Does not dry plastic well

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a compact, efficient dishwasher for a small apartment, and you're okay with the possibility of dealing with minor delivery mishaps, this SPT dishwasher could be a good fit. Its performance has been praised by multiple users, making it worth considering despite some of the aforementioned drawbacks.

  • Nice Compact Unit That Works as Advertised
I've had my SPT dishwasher for more than a month now (I wanted to wait till I had a nice sampling of uses before leaving a review), and I can offer feedback that prospective buyers will perhaps find valuable. I had read quite a number of reviews here before purchasing my unit, and the smattering of complaints did give me pause. But here's what I've learned. Some reviewers said that their units arrived damaged. I'd imagine this is the fault of the delivery services, but, thankfully, mine came in perfect condition. Second, one or two reviewers complained that a hose leaked from the connection at the bottom back of the dishwasher. After having attached the hoses (which is part of the normal set-up), I can say with confidence that this is no doubt because the reviewers did not make sure they included the necessary washers when making the connections. In particular, one hose has its washer taped in place so it won't fall out of the connector, which it can do VERY easily. So it you're not careful when removing the tape, you can lose the washer and not realize it. The bottom line is that the connections are extremely simple; I cannot see any reason why there'd be leakage if the hoses are connected properly. And my unit is perfectly water-tight. Next, quite a number of reviewers mentioned that the dishwasher didn't dry the dishes well. I had the same experience INITIALLY, but then learned something: The detergent you use is of the utmost importance. I initially bought bargain, no-frills dishwasher detergent, and it appeared to work well, though the dishes didn't dry well, and on one occasion the detergent didn't wash off completely. I was concerned that maybe the unit wasn't really doing the job, but then a friend told me to try a certain high-end detergent pod (I won't mention its name because I don't want anyone to think my purpose is to advertise it). Wow, I was shocked at the difference. Not only did the detergent rinse away perfectly and leave the dishes and glasses crystal clear and shiny, but, to my surprise, they also dried wonderfully. The only exception are plastic containers (such as Chinese take-out ones); they don't dry well, but, then again, SPT says in the manual I believe that plastic won't dry well. The bottom line is that — and this apparently is true with all dishwashers — you must get a quality detergent. As for the unit in general, it rolls easily and is perfect for a small apartment such as mine; it fits in my tiny kitchen. The unit comes with a faucet adapter that fits on any standard faucet. It's easy to attach, and it provides much better water flow than my old faucet aerator. The hose adapter is easy to attach and detach from it, too. The dishwasher has a number of different settings and is easy to program. It does a very good job, and I'm happy to no longer have to do dishes manually. The unit's capacity is what you might expect from a smaller washer. I live alone and 24 hours' worth of dishes fit in the machine. So it's good for one or MAYBE two people, and that's what it's made for. Now I'll just have to see how long it lasts (you never know with products today). But so far, so great. ... show more

  • Honest impression Dishwasher Honest impression Dishwasher
I bought this dishwasher because I am almost never home, doing it by hand uses a lot of water. Did I mention that I'm lazy when I get home? build quality from the outside is okay it looks nice But the sheet metal is thinner than what you find on a refrigerator or stove. So in other words kind of delicate. The LED display that shows the time remaining is visible when the door is opened, But when you close it you have to look between the door and the frame to see it which is kind of annoying. The inside frame is good, spacious for its size. from top to bottom is the same size as a built-in dishwasher, from side to side is about 4 to 6 inches shorter then a built-in dishwasher. The top and bottom metal racks have a durable coating on them . my only concern about the inside is that the top rack has a spray arm that completely detaches from the base in the back when you pull it out (which is normal). I wonder how long it will last before I have to replace the seal . if you follow the instructions that is given, it is pretty much straight forward and easy to install. the one thing that really surprised me. the sink attachment that they put in with it..it has threads on the outside and threads on the inside. it makes it a more versatile install pending on your sink faucet . overall I was impressed.the outer build quality was decent .The inner build quality was good. I got this a week ago. I have used it 4 times and the functionality was excellent.as for the price it's a little much but if I had went to a competitive store it would have cost me a $150 more. Six years after my first review. Still works great. I use it about 2 to 3 times a week. My only Complaint so far, After 6 years of use. Because I drain the hose after every wash so it doesn't leak onto the floor. The The hose does come loose after 10 to 15 watches. So I have to tighten the hose once a week. ... show more

  • Great for small spaces!
I have had this dishwasher for about a month and a half, and so far, I am so happy to be doing less dishes by hand (my water bill has gone down, too!) Biggest pros - it's quiet, it gets the job done, it uses significantly less water than hand-washing. Biggest cons - the spacing of the racks is... odd, which makes it difficult to put in larger dishes (think baking sheets), and the hose/coil that connects to the dishwasher and your sink doesn't recoil into the machine, and gets loose if you move the machine around frequently enough. I will say - I couldn't find a lot of information about what works and doesn't work for people, so I wanted to give some tips that have worked for me so far: - Once you have hooked in the water cords to the dishwasher, check them for tightness at the base of the machine before every use, especially if you (like me) have to move the dishwasher from one place to another each time you use it. The screws do loosen over time, and water will drip onto your floors! Not a fun cleanup. - Use liquid detergent. I tried pods, I tried powder tablets and liquid only detergent, and the liquid stuff works the best. Sometimes, the pods won't fully dissolve - same with powder tablets. - Do not put anything large on the left bottom-side of the dishwasher. For my machine, it has kept the soap dispenser from opening. ACK! - Dry the soap dispenser prior to every use. It has helped ensure better release of soap in the next cycle. - Use a cup/bowl to empty out the water hose after disconnecting from your faucet. I like to wiggle the hose around a bit to get as much out of the hose as possible without disconnecting the hose from the machine. This part feels like a major design flaw with the machine, but I'll take doing that over washing a whole load of dishes! - For the best clean, use the longer-timed programming (I use at minimum the program that goes for 2.5 hrs) ... show more

  • I am very happy with this product.
Cleans exceptionally well. I haven't had dishes this clean in a long time. For the last 10 years I have had to do dishes by hand and I never could get them clean enough for my satisfaction. Now my glasses, dishes, and flatware are spotless. I love that it's so small, too. There are only 2 adults and 3 animals in my household and we don't need a full sized dishwasher. I read the review before purchasing and installing this unit. I noticed there were some complaints about leaks. We went to extra lengths to make sure everything was TIGHT before we used it. Not one drop of leakage. It rolls very easily. My only two complaints would be that things don't get completely dry, although this means that the unit does not get so hot it could damage things. The cord and hose storage on the back is kind of poorly made. On the whole, I'm VERY happy I bought this. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a built in and does not do a lot of dishes every day. ... show more

  • Works well, but design issues..... Works well, but design issues.....
Update: I have had this a few weeks. The hoses at he the base have worked loose twice so far, flooding the kitchen. I now check it multi. times during a cycle. I also check every time before I hook it up. This is poor design on the mfg part. This is my 3rd 18" portable dishwasher the first 2 were Frigidaire. The first lasted 18 years, #2 10 years. Frigidaire has quit making the 18" portable. The industry changed the design, and not for the better, the hoses used to be hidden behind a panel, now they are exposed and not neat & tidy. Water pumps out from the bottom so getting the hoses to drain completely requires a bucket. I did a lot of searching and they are all made this way, no matter the brand. The dishwasher works very well. Just the steps the industry has taken to save money has hurt the quality. I know I won't get 18 years, or even 10 years from this one. Time will tell. I couldn’t stand the cord and hoses being a mess. Bought a magnetic marker holder to store the hoses. Replacement clip is in the mail. ... show more

  • Compact and sturdy
I will update this review after longer periods of use. Today was my first day using this dishwasher and so far i am impressed. Unlike many other reviews my unit came flawless and ran without any issues. Hook up was easy, instructions were clear and here I sit not having to wash dishes by hand anymore. I have a spot for it to become a permanent fixture just need to get the kit to hard install. All in all I’m very satisfied with this purchase. Would recommend if you’re tight on space. Update: I purchased all the parts needed for a hard install. I did not know that some dishwashers (portable) can not be permanently installed. When I tapped the cold water line and ran the feed hose my dishwasher flooded. After taking everything apart and running the washer with parts that were included I got a E4 code. To clear this code I tilted the dishwasher slightly and got excess water out of the machine. There is a float sensor that will trip if the machine floods. As it sits now I’m using the original hoses and may split the lines so I do not have to roll the machine to the sink. Still worth the money I paid. Take my misfortune and do not try and hard install. Be glad you have a dishwasher period. ... show more

  • I finally got one!
I was contacted by the Seller as to when the best time of day was for this to be delivered because I have to sign for it! Afternoon best! Well, it got delivered early in the morning when I wasn't home and no-one signed for it. I'm just glad it didn't get stolen off my porch.. yeah, heavy but with 2 people, it would have been an easy steal by anyone! I put it together however, the cord holder that you attach to the back is NOT the correct one so, my cord just lays on the floor and the hoses too. Kinda disappointed since I paid for the machine and extended warranty to get the wrong plastic piece for the back of the machine! It's nice though to finally have a dish washer even if it's portable. Been 20 years without one . I do start the sink water on cold as it states to do so and the dishes come out clean and hot from the drying of it.. I use liquid soap and NOT a pod because the liquid hopefully won't clog any plumbing like a pod would. Now, I have to say that when I ordered this, I didn't realize that the buttons to turn it on are located on top of the drawer (door) that opens up to load or unload the dishes... I didn't notice this and I did a lot of research on this. Kind of weird that the buttons are located there .. it does work and no leaks underneath where the hoses connect.. just keep an eye on the hoses and keep making sure they are good and tight. I have to say that it is pretty quiet when it's running. I couldn't get a connection that allows me to NOT have to take off my adapter to put the dishwasher adapter on .. I found one to order but .. they don't ship to California. What the heck. I am stuck having to change my faucet spray adapter to the dishwasher one and then put mine back on. Drives me nuts! The shipping kept getting delayed but all in all, it looks nice in my kitchen corner and the wheels lock and unlock which is nice. No damage in the delivery...! Buyer beware of the buttons (control panel) is on top of the door itself .. and ...make sure you can order a adapter so you don't have to do what I am having to do. It does come with the correct adapter that does work on my sink but ... In order for me to have my sprayer (not the sprayer with the plastic water hose) just the sprayer that I use on my sink faucet, is a pain to take one off to keep putting mine back on. Just make sure to check to see if you can get another adapter if you end up having my issue. Good luck! ... show more

  • Multiple wash cycles a day after 2.5 yrs of use and still going strong
I've used this dishwasher multiple times a day for over 2 years. It works wonderfully. My 2 biggest complaints are that you cannot see how much time is left on a wash cycle unless you open the door and stop the cycle. My second complaint is that the soap dispenser door does not open when you have larger\taller item on the bottom left side shelf. The larger\taller items stop the soap dispenser door from opening And thus leaves the soap fully intact only cleaning with water as the soap cannot get out. I had to modify(fold down some wire racks to make space for larger items) on the right side of the bottom shelf make room for my larger items. But for how well it works I won't complain too much. There are complaints online that say it leaks when you put the hose on the back when not in use. This does happen, the hose will drain about one to two cups of water once unfastened from the faucet. The way I have fixed this is I put a Ziploc bag around the end of the faucet coupling to catch the water and drain it from the bag. All in all, I can't live without this dishwasher and I love it in spite of faults. ... show more
