The set up out of the box was very easy. After putting most of it together, I realized a set of screws were missing (There was a small hole in the box, so it could have fell out during transport). I sent a text message provided with the instructions. I received an immediate reply, the screws were shipped, and they gave me a partial refund for the trouble. With the mailed screws we quickly finished set up and have been happy with the product since. Sand is really not needed. We filled ours up with water and it works great. We purchased this basketball setup for our teenage boys, one is 6'4 the other is 5'6. They love the fact that it adjusts to various heights. One of the reasons we went with it is because it can be moved, however, the base cracked after moving it once. Surprise on the quality of this, really sturdy. Also quite easy to assembly, took me about 20mins by follow the instructions. We can move the whole thing easier with the two wheels. Kids love it.
