I have made a mission of testing out every litter, litter system, etc. (I have lived with a lot of cats.) I Love automatic pottyboxes! Kitties are intrinsically clean animals, & they are even more appalled at having to use a dirty pottybox than we are at having to use an overflowing outhouse! (And we aren't real fond of cleaning icky pottyboxes, either, although we should understand that's secondary. We aren't the ones who have to squat in them.) When autoboxes first came out, wow! What a boon! However, they left a lot to be desired. They were loud, expensive, didn't work very well & didn't last long. There was one that had promise. Sadly, they "upgraded" it to where it's junk now, too. This is exactly what we've been looking for! It is extremely quiet. It doesn't frighten the cats. In fact, they Love to watch it go. It is sturdy, well built. It is not enclosed so even shy cats don't mind using it. It does an excellent job of sifting the litter, even with a kitty w/chronic runs. Very easy to clean. Took me a bit to master the bags, but they work well & I've never had one break or leak. We did have a minor issue with it for bit, but customer service is excellent! (Remember customer service?) It's so rare to find a company who cares anymore, & Popur's is some of the best I've had dealings with. I haven't had it all that long, so I don't know how well it'll hold up, but I suspect it will be a lot longer than many of the shoddy boxes on the market now.     • UPDATED! Even more good stuff! It won me over!
UPDATE! I have discovered yet another great use for my Popurs. As rescuers we often have cats that need to stay in kennels for short periods, where they can't access the Popurs or other robots Since we hate scooping (the reason for buying automatic litter boxes) this is an ugly situation. What I do now is make sure that one of my Popurs isn't completely full and I'll remove the small litter box from the kennel and dump the whole thing into my Popur. The Popur does the cleaning for me and I just replace a small amount of litter in the kennel litter box. Since the opening on the Popur is so much larger and easy to access than my other robots, it's very simple to dump the litter in there, as opposed to the front loading robots. What a gift this is! I recently ordered the optional plastic waste bin which I thought was overpriced. However, on receiving this my opinion has changed. The bin is exceptionally sturdy and well made. It is not your typical thin plastic accessory, but a substantial add-on. I'm very pleased. Having used the the Popur for a few more weeks now, it has quickly become a favorite for myself and my foster kittens. I absolutely love, love, love the fact that I am not having to empty and top off litter every single day. I love the curious cat feature, a blessing when you have multiple kittens who think it is a big toy. I'm going to order another one to introduce my own, adult cats! As a rescuer and foster mom I own five of the most popular brand of robot litter boxes. After dealing with multiple sensor issues I decided to try different brands. The first two I tried were not satisfactory (returned) and then I ordered the Popur and I fell back in love with an automatic litter box again. The things that I like best about the Popur are; Lower entry which allows smaller kittens to easily use the box. I have foster kittens 6 weeks old who immediately began using the Popur because it was more accessible. Better fence. The fence that prevents litter from being kicked out is more sturdy and doesn't get kicked out of place by the larger cats. I love, love, LOVE that it holds a full 35 lb pail of litter so I don't have to keep refilling it in scoops every day. With five robots that was a full-time job. Really like the leveling feature which makes for a smooth clean surface each time it cycles. Odor control - because the dirty litter is fully contained in the waste bin there is very little odor that escapes. NO SENSOR FAILURES. While relatively new I have not experienced any sensor failures. The more popular robot tells you not to let your cats jump on the hood because it will trigger the sensor that says a cat is in the box and the robot stops mid cycle. I haven't figured out how you're supposed to stop the cats from jumping up there but I do know with the Popur it does not affect the performance. As soon as it starts to cycle they jump off. The only things I do not like about the Popur is the lack of an extended warranty and the larger footprint, which takes up more floor space. However it is that larger footprint that makes it possible to have all the features I love so I will figure out how to make it work. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another! ... show more

    • Enjoying our Popur
We’ve had our Popur litterbox since last year (at least 6 months) and still love it. It has made maintaining a litter box for three cats so convenient. I like that the top is open and our biggest kitty fits just fine. She is about 13-14 lbs. The app tells you with the bin is full. I’ve upgraded a few parts such as buying the plastic litter bin, a taller guard (because we have one that flings litter like he’s in the Olympics), and purchased back-up liners. We had a different automatic litter box prior and Popur is a huge upgrade for us. The cats appreciate always having a clean box too, and it helps me greatly because one of our kitties likes to potty as soon as the box is cleaned. No worries, Popur will clean it again as many times as needed. Cleaning: We have it set to automatically cycle 10 minutes after a cat uses it and visitors have commented that there is no cat litter box smell. We empty the litter bin at least weekly, sometimes twice per week but this is much easier than manually scooping. litter liner is very easy to clean and dries quickly. I do this about once per month or two. Wiping down the other parts of the box is easy too. Noise: When the machine is cycling, it sounds like a loud hum. Not overly loud, but there is some sound to it. Even my scared cat is not frightened by it. All good here. Quality: Overall, great quality. The mechanical lid did stop functioning at about 6 months in, but customer service was responsive and very helpful in identifying the problem and are sending us a replacement at no cost. I recommend this box to others looking for added convenience when it comes to cleaning the litter box. ... show more
