My first one lasted 5yrs in Florida heat until the base started to separate and the duck took on water. Got another one a few months ago. They look great, hold plenty of chlorine and will list to the side when it needs a refill. It gets a little banged up near the skimmer but all chlorinators do. The Mallard is also tall enough so it doesn't get sucked into the skimmer. Can't imagine my pool without this guy. ... show more

My oldest daughter kept telling me she wanted a pet duck. Well we live in town and unfortunately for her that just wasn't feasible. So I got her this duck chlorine floater. Now he is her pet. It's easy to get chlorine pucks in it and screw back together.

It looks pretty good and does the job. But does not float very straight. I’ve checked it for holes but it is not taking on water. So just is not balanced well.

Not only does this thing dispense chlorine efficiently, it attracts real live ducks into our pool. Occasionally, a hen mallard sits on the edge of our pool, ruffling her feathers feverishly, all but begging the greenhead to come and get her.

He is a replacement for my old pool gator that finally gave in to the relentless sun and elements of Florida. Old guy lasted 7 years. He just swims around the pool dispensing chlorine like he is supposed to. My cats like to stalk him.

    • Small Hole in the Mallard collects water

I didn't release several weeks, after the fact, that there is a small hole in the wing area of the float. Every two weeks I have to drain the Mallard part of the Dispenser. Other than that it just starts looking like a dead duck in the pool even the Dispenser still works. I have purchased this item before and it typically lasts a year in the Florida Sun before becoming brittle. Overall I have had good experiences with Poolmaster so even though this is a small issue it will not impact me using them again. ... show more
