Our saltwater system for our above ground pool went out toward the end of season last year, so we purchased a new system this year when we opened the pool up again. The new system seemed to be running fine with no low salt errors, but the pool water kept turning a bit green every few days after shocking. I ordered these test strips so I could double check the salt level. As it turns out, the pool was definitely needing more salt. I was able to add a bag of salt, run the pool for a day, then check the salt level repeatedly until the salt level was where it needed to be. Three bags of salt later the pool water is finally staying good and clear. The test strips come well packaged and are easy to use. The fifty test strips are packaged in groups of ten to a set in foil wrappers and stored in a snap top container. The color comparison chart is on the jar, so you don't have to worry about keeping up with the box. To use the strips, you simply dip the end of the strip in the pool for about two seconds, then remove and hold it level for fifteen seconds. Then compare the color of the indicator to the color chart on the container. Unlike some test strips I have used the color variation is very easy to read. Now if we get a lot of rain I can test to make sure we don't need to add additional salt. And there will be plenty of strips to test the pool next year as well. These strips are an easy way to keep the salt level of your pool where it needs to be, especially since you can't always rely on the salt system to alert you to low salt conditions.

We have a salt water pool and were having some issues with the salt generator this summer. We got these strips and found that the salt level was too low. After getting the salt in the correct range, our salt generator began working again so these strips did the job.

As with most test strips, you dip in pool, shake excess water off, then compare to the chart on the bottle. These are a bit hard to read though if they fall between the sample colors.

I’ve used pool test strips that measured chlorine, PH, and other common chemicals and have found them to be very difficult to compare with the color key but also inaccurate. Much to my surprise these salt test strips have a color scale that is easy to read and they are also quite accurate. My saltwater chlorinator was warning me that my salt level was getting low so I added some bags of salt and waited 24 hours before taking a water sample to my pool store. The pool store tested my salt level and reported 3500 ppm of salt, ideal for my chlorinator (they did not test with strips). When I got home I used one of the Ainkter salt test strips on my pool water and got an easy to determine reading of 3500 ppm, the same as the pool store. To keep them fresh, the container has 5 individual foil sealed pouches each containing 10 strips. I will continue to use these strips with confidence.
