  • Awesome!
Style: Speakers Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
I bought my F150 used and it came with the "premium" audio option. My last 2 Ford vehicles had the Mach system and my Yukon XL has the Bose system in it. Certainly neither the Mach or Bose is the be all-end all of car audio but they are respectable setups for just listening to music at a reasonable volume. I decided on the DB speakers because a friend of mine who is into car audio and always has a great sounding setup. Install was easy. I popped the speaker cover panels off the truck with a screw driver, used a 7/32 socket to remove the 4 screws holding the old speaker in place, and disconnected the old speaker's wiring harness. Note: You'll need to buy the harnesses for the speakers if you don't want to cut wires, etc. This would make install very quick (probably less than 30 min for all 4 speakers). I ended up cutting the wiring harness plug off and crimped normal speaker terminals on the end of the factory wires. Note that if you decide to do this you need to cut as close to the factory plug as possible because there isn't much slack. Also, the positive terminal will be white with a colored line and the negative will be a solid color with a colored line. Each door has a different colored set of wires as I recall. Two very minor issues during my install was that I had to bend the mounts on each side of the speaker because they wouldn't fit the stock speaker opening and I had to install at least one of the speakers upside down because there wasn't enough slack to turn it the other way. You can't tell with the factory trim piece installed tho. I started with the front passenger door and realized that I ran out of terminals so I had a chance to compare the stock premium speaker with the DB speaker. To test I faded the sound all the way forward so only the front speakers were playing. You could immediately tell the stock speaker had a muddier sound with less definition than the Polk DB speaker. Specifically I noticed backing vocals and cymbals were more clearly defined through the DB speaker. I listened at different volumes as well and the DB speaker seemed louder and clearer across the spectrum than the stock speaker. I could also tell that the overall volume of the system was louder with that one Polk DB speaker. After installing the 2nd speaker the system is noticeably louder than the stock Premium system and sounds much better. Keep in mind I didn't Dynamat or add an amp. Hopefully I'll finish installed the rear 2 speakers soon but interestingly I found that during testing using fade/balance I couldn't tell much difference in sound with the rear speakers going. Its possible that because they're low in the door and there are front seats in the way along with road noise that much of the sound doesn't travel forward. I think the system might be loud enough as is and seems to have enough bass for my needs but I might amp these speakers down the line but for now with the stock head unit they seem to be a noticeable upgrade to the stock premium system. ... show more

  • 2014 ford f150 replacement speakers.
Style: Speakers Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
These speakers are a replacement for my 2014 ford f150 OE front door speakers. Ford had a few years there they used crappy ones that would easily blow. I cannot believe I waited so long to replace mine with these. I cannot believe how great they sound for the price. They were a perfect fit all 4 screw holes line up. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Good entry level replacement for factory speakers
Style: Speakers Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
The Polk db571 5'x7' Coaxial Speakers are a good, solid entry-level replacement for the typically underwhelming factory speakers in your car or truck. Build quality: good for the price. The Polks have a pretty solid stamped metal basket, a 5"x7" woofer attached with a rubber surround, and a 3/4" soft dome tweeter. The tweeter uses a premium Neodymium magnet, while the woofer uses the standard ceramic magnet. I was able to mount these Polks in the mounting holes for my stock Ford 6"x8" speakers without incident; the shallow depth needed for the db571s (2 3/16") ensured I wouldn't have any install issues. Sound: As mentioned by others on here, the clarity of mids and treble output by the Polk dome tweeter absolutely blows away the stock Ford speakers. And after listening for a few hours, I feel that while the bass of the Polk is different that that of the stock speakers, it is comparable if not a bit better than what I heard before. The factory speakers had a lot of mid-bass which sounded decent if you didn't have anything to compare them to. But the Polks have a more neutral balanced bass response down to their lower limit of about 50 Hz. I should also mention the the db571s are one of the most efficient aftermarket speakers available (93 dB), which could be particularly important if you are not planning to upgrade your head unit or add an external amplifier. If you are prepared to spend more, there are other 5"x7" coax speakers (such as the Polk Audio MM571 5x7 Coax Speaker or the Infinity Kappa 6829CF 6 x 8 / 5 x 7 - Inch 2-Way Speakers) that go lower in the bass, or component speaker systems that allow you to place the tweeter at an optimum location. But for a simple upgrade that will improve the sound in your vehicle, these Polk db571s are a solid choice. ... show more
