Description

The Bose TV Speaker helps you hear your TV better. It’s a small sound bar that clarifies speech and improves overall TV sound. Inside the TV speaker there are two full-range drivers angled to deliver wide, spacious sound and a center tweeter specifically focused on elevating vocals. Built-in Dolby decoding helps further enhance this compact TV speaker’s audio capabilities to deliver a more realistic and satisfying listening experience. Designed with simplicity in mind, this small soundbar only uses a single connection to the TV via an optical audio cable (included) or an HDMI cable (sold separately) and has you up and running in minutes. At just over 2" tall, the Bose TV Speaker is a compact sound bar that can be placed just about anywhere. And small LED lights on the front of this small soundbar turn on and/or change color for visual confirmation when certain features are enabled. They also blink in acknowledgement of volume changes. The Bose TV Speaker has HDMI-CEC, which allows the TV and this small soundbar to communicate when connected with an HDMI cable. Meaning when you turn the TV on, the TV speaker will automatically turn on too. With this technology, you can even keep using your current TV remote to control the volume of this compact soundbar. However, the Bose TV Speaker comes with its own remote. And on it, you can enable “dialogue mode” on the TV speaker to elevate vocals even more or press the “bass” button for some extra depth. This compact soundbar also is a Bluetooth soundbar. Simply press the Bluetooth button on the remote to pair your device to this Bluetooth TV speaker and wirelessly stream your favorite music or podcasts. You can also expand your system at any time by adding a wired subwoofer to the Bluetooth TV speaker for a more home-theater-like experience. The Bose TV Speaker is compatible with the Bose Bass Module 500 and 700 and requires the Bose Bass Module Connection Cable or a standard 3.5 mm audio cable, sold separately.

  • Easy to use, excellent sound
I bought this for a TV that was an older, inexpensive, flat-screen. The speaker sits unobtrusively just below (or could be placed above) the screen. It's a plug and play, as long as your TV has the input. The sound is excellent. One feature that works very well for me is the voice enhancement (can't recall what Bose calls it) because I don't have an airconditioned house and so use fans in summer. This feature makes it easier to hear spoken voices when ancillary noises (or background music/noises of what you're watching) are also going on. I don't have hearing problems but would think this feature (on the remote control) might be helpful for those who do. It is also Bluetooth enabled, so I can run music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc. through the speaker. I enjoy this Bose speaker very much; it gets used pretty much daily. ... show more

  • Excellent audio with consistent levels Excellent audio with consistent levels
This is my third and hopefully final soundbar in my hunt for something that just works. I did a bit of research that landed me on the Bose TV Speaker. This is for a living room with a 20' ceiling and a TV mounted above the fireplace. With young kids, the TV is usually on their shows during the day or mom and dad trying to watch something in the evening. We aren't looking to be fully immersed in booming action movies, dialogue is the focus. The last one I had would drown out dialogue with background music and I was always trying to adjust the levels. This is perfect, I don't have to fiddle with it and it does a great job of staying consistent and I never have an issue hearing dialogue. It connected easily to my Roku TV and even supports Roku TV integration, allowing me to adjust things through the TV interface. I like that it's relatively small while packing powerful audio. The only problem I had may have been due to my TV - when I connected to the Bose over Bluetooth it messed up the hdmi-arc connection and my TV was no longer powering the Bose on and off, I had to factory reset the TV to resolve this and I haven't tried the Bluetooth connection since. Bottom line is that I didn't want to spend more than $200 and I just wanted something that would just work - apparently that is a unicorn in today's age of soundbars - and the Bose TV Speaker is that unicorn ... show more

  • Wow, lesson learned!
I should have just bought this originally and hard wired a Bose subwoofer to the bass port. Definitely learned a good lesson and will not make this mistake again! This Bose TV speaker replaced a Sony HT-S400 2.1 system ($299) that I got on sale at $100 off. I took the deal and regretted it ever since because the Sony continually cut out at random intervals and sounded a little muddled - another story for another time. The Bose TV Speaker name just sounds so plain, no numbers, and no gimmicks, BUT the sound clarity, range, and quality is so far beyond the Sony that there is no comparison. I was able to increase the base a little on the Bose and although not thumping, adds a good amount more of low range. And the dialog is so clear with the extra center speaker that until you hear it you would not know what you were missing. Planning to add a Bose subwoofer in near future, and when added, will result in a 3.1 system with high end left/center/right sound coming from the Bose TV Speaker and a ridiculous amount of base from the Bose subwoofer. A little more than originally planned dollar wise, but in the end this is better than a bundled system sold by the tv brands at a similar price point for sure. Even without planning the addition of a subwoofer, I am more than happy using just the Bose TV Speaker by itself over the old sound bar with a subwoofer, which is actually $20 more today on Amazon. If I remember in the next week or two, I will try to update my review after adding the Bose subwoofer to confirm successful installation. ... show more

  • Know what you want
I bought a LGC5 TV and like most televisions these days it has god awful internal speakers. It doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money on a nice picture only to use it's terrible speakers so I knew I needed better sound. I knew going into this that sound bars are notoriously frowned upon in the audio world. If you do any research you'll quickly find out they're overpriced and don't offer nearly the quality as a multi-speaker set up with a subwoofer. However due to the location of my TV I was severely limited on my audio choices, I just didn't have room for much of anything, even most soundbars were too big for what I needed. One of the only ones that fit my specs was this Bose bar so I bought it because I didn't really have much of an option. The set up was easy, just plug it into power and use the ARC HDMI port for audio. The sound quality is not bad for what it is but I was just looking for a product that was a step up from TV speakers so the bar was set pretty low. I played some music on YouTube and it was definitely a fuller sound compared to the flat sound that came with the TV A few ending notes 1. This sound bar is $279 msrp but is often found for $199. Just wait for the price drop because I don't think this thing is worth almost $300. I personally used a $50 credit so it was only 150ish for me 2. As I mentioned I don't recommend a sound bar if you're really looking for good sound. But if you're truly set on a sound bar I highly recommend getting one that includes a subwoofer. I have another sound bar from Vizio that includes a sub and it's noticeably better 3. An HDMI cable is not included but an optical cable is. I highly recommend an HDMI if your TV has an ARC option, it's a better set up. ... show more

  • Bose Compact TV Subwoofer is a Great Value!
I recently bought this compact Bose soundbar on Amazon for $199.00. I can honestly say that it exceeds my expectations! Right out of the box you get the sense it’s a high quality product! The construction is solid and robust. My Bose soundbar is connected a recent model Samsung 32” QLED television via the HDMI Arc terminal. The audio quality is quite good IMO. Blindfolded you would swear the speaker was much larger. It’s got great high frequency response and the middle frequencies are crisp, balanced, possessing outside speech clarity. The bass is somewhat attenuated but given the compact size of the speaker it’s still very respectable. If you’re so inclined you can connect compatible Bose subwoofer to supplement the bass frequencies. I believe the Bose subwoofer represents a terrific value in the crowded home speaker market. I’m giving it 5 Stars since it exceeds my expectations! ... show more

  • Not Worth It!!
This Bose TV Speaker has pretty good sound quality for the tv because it does sound better than the tv speakers and better volume and the speech is a little clearer, but that's about as far as it goes. I purchased this sound bar after looking at many, but mostly because I have been a Bose fan for many decades and in the days of them becoming to where they are now everything was exceptional until I received this product. Bose dropped the ball on this one and seem to be living now off their name of top-quality products and service in the past and you know what starts to happen when you cut back on the quality, you start to lose your long time customers and no repurchase's from most new ones so business starts to decline, and we all know what has happened to big companies in the past. You charge high dollars so put back in the quality you use too. For two days I have been trying to get a simple question answered from them and no response. After purchasing this product, I have come to realize the only subwoofer I can add to this sound bar which has poor bass, is programed only for their brand, and their cheapest woofer starting at $500.00 plus, that is ridicules. The Bluetooth is version is 4.2, that came out around 2011 or 12 so outdated, much cheaper brands even have the newer versions, heck the remote is not even Bluetooth! You have to make sure no other devices have Bluetooth on to connect to a single device you want par and listen two, a lot of others allow two at once so you can switch back and forth. There is absolutely no way to turn on or control the sound bar if you lose the remote, battery goes bad or if the remote goes bad, but we all know that does not happen now does it? For a 300-dollar soundbar especially from Bose I expected more, half was for the name and the other half for the actual worth of the unit and to get more bass I need to spend over $500.00 more when other top brand units come with a sound bar for under $300.00. I should be able to connect other subwoofer brands to this unit but from all my checking only a couple of people have gotten lucky, I have two and neither one will work with this unit when I connected them, so It's kind of like I gotcha from Bose if you want to upgrade your sound bar for $500.00 plus more to Bose. Yes, looks like this one is going back to Bose. Update: I decided to keep the speaker even as disappointed as I am with this so outdated speaker and mine was made in 2023 and then 28 days after using it just stopped working after being on for about a hour and a half, it only blinks the two lights white 3 times and turns the tv side light green and does this over and over again and will not turn off unless you unplug it, plug it back up and light off a couple of minutes then automatically turns back on and starts the same process over and over, So much for quality Bose I did not even get a months' worth of use and thank goodness I had two days left to return, never again for me Bose. Service is nonexistent never got a answer for a simple question I sent earlier so just imagine how it is with a real problem. ... show more

  • In voice enhancement mode, it is PERFECT! Not cheap, but works perfectly for older ears
This has turned out to be a really nice soundbar for my purposes. I had been using a low cost nice and decent sounding speaker sold as a soundbar. The problem was too much bass. I live in a townhouse and I'm sure the boom of the bass was annoying the neighbor. So I decided to try a 'plan b". The Bose speaker is very expensive, yes it is. But what it does is allow you to turn the bass all the way down and do enhance speech mode. Helps me so much. I have hearing loss at the high end from a career that involved being at the gun range all my adult life. And the highs are suffering. Voices fall into that. This boosts the treble and the voices, so you can hear voices so much better. Momma always said life isn't always fair, that you have to pay so much to get that feature when there are cheaper options, but they are goofy in how they work and aren't reliable with connecting to HDMI-ARC, sometimes connect, sometimes not, can't turn down excessive bass, and can't boost voices, that kind of thing. Bose is perfect if you are in the same situation as me. ... show more

  • Exactly What I Was Looking For
Purchased this product as a gift for someone but I made sure to test it before giving it to them since there were some key features I needed. Firstly, this soundbar is not as long as other soundbars on the market which is exactly what I was looking for. I needed it to fit under a PC monitor - and it fits perfectly. Secondly, I needed it to have a 3.5mm jack. In theory, you can use optical, but I wanted to have the option to use the 3.5mm jack since its the easiest way to get speakers to work on your computer. I looked at TONS of sound bars, and it seems like the 3.5mm jacks have gone extinct or something. But not on this sound bar. This one had a 3.5mm jack which was perfect and it made connecting to my PC super easy. Next, I needed it to be loud. At first when I plugged it in, it was quiet, even with my computer volume on 100%. But when I turned up the sound on the actual sound bar using the remote - it was plenty loud. This soundbar does NOT have physical buttons to alter the volume, so you need the remote (included). I don't think that's a bad thing though. Next, I did not want it to have any voice control or built in Alexa or whatever else. It was never going to get used and I didn't want to pay the extra money for that feature. Pros: - Quality of sound - Loudness - Looks great - Short enough to fit on a desk for PC set up - No voice control/Alexa - Reasonably priced - Variety of connection (HDMI Arc, Optical, Aux In, Additional Bass) - Bluetooth connectivity (don't need it, but good to have) Cons: - Doesn't have voice control (not a con for me, but could be for someone else) Conclusion: This was the only soundbar I managed to find that fit everything I needed. If you resonate with my reasoning for why I chose a soundbar like this, I would say its a no-brainer. ... show more
