after removing the plastic front grill, was easy to slide through the front bars behind the plastic grill and bolt on. had a pre-existing wire from the winch to the handlebars making it easy to connect. 2 things were not identified well in the manual: 1. where to bolt the pos/neg wires since battery was too far away. followed the existing wires to find a bar straight up from where the winch mounts (doh) for easy connection which im sure is also connected to fuse box. 2. non of the shrink wraps on any of the wires were tight. make sure to get a lighter or heat gun and run it over on all of the wires with shrink wrap (mainly on handlebar control wire going to the pre-existing control wire, and the battery wires coming from the winch (to keep water from getting in and possibly causing a short). other than that it works great and love it! ... show more

The directions could have been better. Easy to figure out and I'm sure theirs probably a youtube video of the install if you need it. Works great otherwise I was successfully able to get stuck in some mud and pull myself out.

    • it takes a lot longer than 20 minutes to install. plan for 2 hours
the instructions that were in my unit were not very clear. They left out or assumed you know what they were talking about. it was also the first revision of them dated 2014. With conflicting typo's. not what I would expect from Polaris. In my opinion the only way you could install this in 20 minutes is to have done it many times and have all of your tools setout. Just plain poor install instructions. Seems like a nice quality product that is plug and play. ... show more

Very easy to install. Polaris was smart and made this a plug and play accessory. The wiring was already done on my Sportsman 570 at the factory. All I had to do was mount the winch, attach the positive and negative cables to the battery bus, mount the switch to the handle bars and plug in the two wiring harness adaptors. First I went with a cheaper wench and I had a lot of trouble so I took the shot on this and I am not disappointed I love the feel and quality in this wench everything Is plug and play and only took 20-30 minutes to install

I have never been stuck but have used this winch for around the yard projects. No complaints pulls harder than my four wheeler weighs so when over loaded it slides my machine.
