OK, I admit it. I am a bit of a bedding snob. I love high count cotton sheets that launder well, fit perfectly, last forever, and feel like I'm sleeping at the best 5 star hotel, but don't cost the equivalent of a mortgage payment. These sheets fit the bill in every way. When I opened the package, I was a bit disappointed as the fabric felt a bit stiff, more like a muslin than a sateen finish percale. I washed them in warm water with a neutral detergent (no fabric softener) and dried them on medium until nearly dry. The fabric softened considerably and the sheets fit my split king bed with its adjustable base with room to spare as these fitted sheets will fit a pretty deep mattress. The first night's sleep was very comfortable, and the bedding has gotten softer and developed a lovely sheen with repeated washings (again, no fabric softener!). The top sheet is oversized and the pillow cases fit king size pillows with room to spare. Even my spouse agrees that this sheet set is a great buy-- so much so I just ordered another set. Highly recommend. UPDATE: Got my second set of sheets. Unlike the first set, these were silky smooth right out of the package. Washed and dried and put on the bed. Fit beautifully and the fabric has a lovely sateen sheen (not shiny, just silk like). First set was white, these are blue and the color is true; not turquoise, aqua or teal. As a sheet snob, I am hard to please. When we bought our Sleep Number split-at-the-top king bed a few months ago, our choices in sheets diminished by a lot. I bought the Supima Sleep Number sheets for a ridiculous amount of money, and they are simply terrible. I've been gun-shy about buying other sheets, because I like to be able to see and feel them, and the brick-and-mortar stores don't carry split kings. but finally I couldn't stand the Sleep Number sheets any longer. After reading the reviews on these sheets, I took a chance. We love them! They have some weight, but not too much--they feel very nice in the hand. The color was true to the picture. They feel, if not luxurious, something approaching that. They wash well. And they were a great value! I'm going to buy another set or two before they change the way they're made--that always seems to happen, and then the quality goes down. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star review is that they are too deep for the bed, so the fitted sheet doesn't stay as taut as I like. I wish they made them for a 14-15 inch deep mattress instead of 18 inch. ... show more

These sheets are neither soft nor comfortable. I am, admittedly, a sheet snob. I like soft, thick sheets. I will forego some thickness for softness. These are neither. I washed and dried them before putting them on the bed. I don’t care about wrinkles (because I’m sleeping on them, not wearing them to a party), but if you do care about wrinkles, keep searching. These sheets are more wrinkled than a shar-pei. But I digress. I have slept on them exactly one night, and I could not rip them off my bed quick enough this morning. They are not only not soft, they felt like I was laying on 220 grit sandpaper all night. They are also not even remotely “gray”. They are taupe. ... show more

Shopped long and hard before deciding to try these particular sheets and I am very happy. We recently purchased a split king size bed (two twin XL mattresses). The bed is 14" high. I was surprised at how few places sell split king ensembles. In order to get high quality cotton (no bamboo for me -- it's actually just polyester anyway -- because i find synthetics and blends to be too hot) I was prepared to buy separates (twin xl fitted and king size flat sheet, but Royal Hotel had the split king. My favorite sheets have been the high end Costco Kirkland cotton sheet sets and these are very similar. Less sateen finish on these, but I personally like that. I'm old-school crisp cotton. these have a nice heft to them without feeling heavy. I'm very, VERY happy! ... show more

Pros: Did not shrink when washed Pillow cases and top sheet little bigger Fit our deep mattress well Very smooth finish Cons: Color lighter than shown on my monitor We are very happy with this sheet set. It fit better than our old sets and is very comfortable. It didn't shrink or pucker when we washed it before using it. The pillowcases are a bit longer so the pillows don't slide out and the top sheet is a bit wider so we have better coverage when we sleep. Prior to purchasing this product we were having trouble finding a sheet to fit our longer and thicker mattress. We recommend this product if you use an adjustable split king bed. ... show more

With the many rave reviews, I was expecting to love these sheets. But that is not the case at all! I washed them in cold wash, dried on low and prepared to make up my split king. Our mattress is 15“ deep and we can barely get the fitted sheets over the corners. The elastics aren't even very strong, but hoping they were on secure enough we moved on to the top sheet. It barely reached the bottom of the mattress! We had to sacrifice a little bit at the top just to have a couple inches to tuck in at the bottom. For the nearly $100 these cost I would expect them to fit much better! I will be looking into returning them. ... show more

    • Have bought Royal Hotel sheets before, this was a disappointment.

have purchased from royal hotel before and the sheets I got were great. super soft. just what I wanted. that was, YEARS ago sadly. now that its time to replace some worn out sheets, I came back to royal hotel. I wont be doing that again. the sheets came out of the package like cardboard. VERY stiff and rough. I washed them as per the label. No difference. I washed them again. and again. and again....... Nothing beats a very soft sheet to give you a good nights sleep. But these are course, rough and stiff. I know Egyptian cotton often needs a little washing to soften up but After 7 washes, there was zero difference in the fabric. Very disappointing. Not all cotton threads are created equal. This appears to be a less than stellar thread choice. ... show more
