  • Great fit, super light and breathable
Size: L/59-62cm Color: Hydrogen White/Uranium Black
Riding primarily in the desert of Colorado near Grand Junction and Moab, it’s imperative you have a breathable helmet, this is not only light but also breathable and super comfortable. Highly recommend

  • No se fija bien y tiene movimiento
Size: M/54-60cm Color: Hydrogen White/Uranium Black
Cuando tienes mucho movimiento en partes rocosas el casco tiende a moverse e incomodarte disminuyendo tu visión al inclinarse hacia el frente.

  • Great helmet with a LOT of coverage
Size: L/59-62cm Color: Hydrogen White/Uranium Black
I've used a LOT of helmets in my years on the bike, going all the way back to the original Giro Prolight (1986). Since then, many proceeding lids ended up being ill-fitting, heavy and/or hot, resulting in painful pressure points or the feeling of having your head being baked in an oven. POC has hit a good highlight with the Tectal. The Tectal offers a HUGE amount of cranial coverage short of being a full-face. While I still use a full-face for some rides, I ride a lot of longer distances in addition to a few 50k+ mountain bike events each year. Those rides are far less technical than riding some of the jump parks and more tech-laden downhill trails in my area where a full-face is a better choice. For the longer rides, safety is highly important, but so is ventilation and comfort from your skid-lid. Speaking of ventilation, POC's vents are absolutely gaping on this helmet and offer a noticeable amount of airflow (of course....my ever decreasing volume of hair may bias my experience here). Spring in Colorado isn't hot, so my first ride with this helmet was in the high 60's and started with my forehead feeling cold. I have strong confidence this helmet will offer a good deal of cooling as the temps climb as summer approaches. As noted, the helmet covers a lot of your head...like most of it. My initial ride with glasses (w/the red lenses) led me to play with the way the helmet sat on my head. Modern riding glasses have increased in size and coverage of the last few years and I found the helmet's brow to knock on the top of the glasses at first. A subsequent ride with my regular prescriptions shades had zero issues. The retention device is quite adjustable, so I was able to make adjustments for use with the larger shades. It's kind of right in the middle of the grams department, coming in at 440g for the large size. For reference, my "road" helmet tips the scale at 310g and my full-face is a little more than both the POC and my road helmet combined at 780grams. But it's so comfy, it does disappear on my head and the added 130 grams over my lighter helmet are negligible in use. In the area of sizing, my head is bang on 59cm, so I went with the large. POC does have a genuine reputation in the cycling community, and this helmet is a testament to this. The build quality is simply not comparable to anything I've owned previously. Every surface is seamless and fits together perfectly. The retention harness holds with such tenacity, I literally can't take the helmet off without either a great amount of force or by loosening it to get it on and off my melon. The visor is adjustable and it even has a nifty clip on the back for goggle retention if you choose to use them. One other thing it has is RECCO, which is a passive reflector specifically for use with rescue radars. Meaning, you can be located by any rescue team with RECCO search equipment. Pretty crazy cool. If anyone wearing this helmet riding with a cell phone and a GPS goes missing.....well....that can't be good. So there you have it. POC has done more than their homework with the Tectal. • Background on safety & notes on fit
Size: L/59-62cm Color: Uranium Black/Hydrogen White Matt
I've been cycling for a few years, and last year I started getting deeper into mountain biking. Up to now, I've just been using the same helmet for road biking and mountain biking, but as my mountain biking skills improve and I've started trying more aggressive trails, that's making me think more about safety. As one of my fellow cycling dads likes to say, "I have too many dependents to take major risks now." I've been researching helmets with higher safety ratings, and that let me to MIPS technology, to the POC brand, and then the Tectral line of helmets. All helmets sold in the United States are required to meet the CPSC safety standard set in 1999, so generally you can buy any helmet that fits well and keeps you comfortable and expect a similar level of safety. However, Swedish engineers developed MIPS technology to provide a higher level of safety. MIPS helmets have two layers that can rotate against each other, absorbing much more of the impact during a crash. Right now, MIPS technology is only available through a handful of helmet manufacturers, including POC, who has a stellar reputation for building safety-minded helmets. My next question was what size to buy. I measured my head according to the instructions on the POC website and found my head is ALMOST 59 centimeters around. That's right, it's more than 58, but not quite 59. So, somehow, I am once again in-between sizes. I chose to go up to the size large, hoping that would work well for my head shape. Fortunately, that seems to be the right choice. In fact, when I tighten the helmet fully, it's almost too tight for comfort, so I suspect the practical upper and lower limits of each helmet size may be a bit more than the stated limits. With all that said, I feel a lot better starting this season off with a high end helmet for my mountain biking! And it seems like that boost in safety came without sacrificing much in terms of air circulation or added weight, which also makes me happy. I'm glad I've invested in something that will protect me and my ability to be there for my family. ... show more
