It was still $1200 when I purchased it but, it was a great price relative to other cards at the time. I know this card does not have the best VRM and such and would not be the best over-clocking card but, it does have some other nice advantages. Maybe not the best cooler ever, the heat pipes are not soldered to the fins so, it could be better but, it is still a nice cooler and very quiet. I am not an intense gamer and for me, this was nearly a perfect card. This is my second PNY card. The 1st was a 3070 which I was hesitant to buy PNY over the other more expensive brands. The 3070 ran great, was extremely quiet and never gets above 70 degrees under full load gaming. I bought this 4080 for a new build and it runs great as well. Full load 70 degrees and quiet. My specs are 5950x, a Samsung 980 pro 2tb, and a rtx 4080. This is one of the greatest GPUs I have ever owned. Every game max settings no hitches. At time of writing, I've had this GPU for about a year and three months. Whether you buy a 4080 from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, PNY, or anyone else, you're essentially getting the same product, just dressed a little differently (unless you're buying an overclocked model). So, really, all I can grade are the things that make this card different from other 4080s, one of which is the RGB lighting. The reason I have to knock this card down to 4 stars is that, while the performance of the 4080 is great, and the RGB lights look nice, the RGB controller does not play nice with any of the other parts in my system, or with OpenRGB software. My RAM sticks, fans, CPU cooler, and motherboard will all sync up and use the same lighting pattern, but this graphics card refuses to follow suit. Sometimes, when I turn on my PC, the lights don't turn on, and I have to force enable them. Sometimes, it randomly decides to default to flashing all of its colors at the fastest possible speed. Speaking of RGB light speeds, instead of using a scale that makes sense, like 0-100 or 0-255, this graphics card uses 0-178 for some reason. In the end, if you buy this card, you will get the excellent performance of one of Nvidia's best graphics units, but if you're looking for aesthetics, buy a different brand, or save $100 and buy PNY's non-RGB version. ... show more

I went from a 1660ti to this, huge upgrade! Play is smoother, background effects are more defined, and all at 120 fps and quiet!! I know it's expensive, but it's gonna last you a few years, I would buy again and again.

It was a great upgrade for me, but it depends on the price. I stacked multiple gift cards and offers to bring the price down, and also sold my old 6800XT to cover it. Performance-wise, the biggest thing is DLSS and Ray Tracing. If you don't care about that stuff, then I'm not positive it's worth it. I bought this 4080 last year. After a period of time within warranty, I noticed screen tears -- not during games but during regular workstation use. I followed proper support procedures. I made every change and test asked of me. I meticulously documented every test I made in their support system. They agreed I'd done my diligence and sent me an RMA. They took the card and ran it through their QA -- and sent it BACK TO ME. Here's the problem -- my experience says their QA suite is imperfect and insufficient. The evidence I provided them says the same. They could provide no other reasonable explanation. In short, they are anything but a "customer is always right" company. They are a low-effort, no-care, move-product company. In short, your warranty _might_ be good for something. Might not. ... show more
