We recently purchased a used PS3 Super Slim, and purchased this SSD (1TB Model) to upgrade the storage. It works great; fit the HDD tray with not problems. The only issues were: 1: You have to format the SSD to the FAT32 / 32KB standard. That was a pain, as Windows 10 wasn't giving us that option--we had to dig up an old Vista notebook which did let us format the drive to the correct spec. 2: Getting the PS3 System Software to install. We had to keep switching between the USB drive with the files and the plugged in PS3 controller on the 1st player USB port. Apparently, the console won't sync to the controllers via wireless until the software is installed. BUT, you need to press buttons to tell the unit to install the files, go through prompts, etc. with your controller. Paradox (and much swearing) ensues. Other than those issues (which are not the driver's fault, rather the goofy requirements SONY foisted on us), the drive is great and will work well on your PS3 Super Slim! ... show more

    • Great Drive, BUT...

Really good drive, fast and LOW COST! BUT, it runs at 211 degrees Fahrenheit. No matter if it is used as an external usb drive without an enclosing case, or internally with a fan on it. I am using it in a desktop now as an Linux main drive with a few different distributions on it, with 4 other sata mechanical drives. It is my main computer, I built it in 2013 and use it daily, always have. I have other types of SSD drives on other computers but this is the only one that runs HOT. Others are near 100F. I do not know if this is an oddity or not, as no one else has mentioned it here, BUT I will not buy another one because of it. If the manufacturer/seller has noted this is an abnormality, sends me a replacement and I can send this one back, I will. I will update if this one fails or mfg gets in touch. ... show more

    • Easy to install and clone, fast and reliable

I have an older (2010) laptop that I wanted to use for a couple projects. Cloned the hard drive to this and installed. The computer was so slow due to older Celeron processor, 4 gigs of memory, and the slow hard drive. This SSD made a world of difference but not enough for what I wanted. Because of the memory and slow processor, disk use is intense. I went with the 250 because that was the size of the drive in the computer and keeping the same size HD makes cloning a breeze. Just wish it had been enough to make the computer do what I wanted. SSDs make a world of difference, and this drive is excellent and just too good for this computer. I have upgraded other laptops that have better processors with great results it's too bad this computer was not good enough for this drive. ... show more

    • Great performance in my QNAP NAS

I purchased 2 of the 2TB drives a month ago and installed them into my 4-bay QNAP NAS as the system drive. They are configured as RAID1. I ran several tests by doing a drag-and-drop of a 2GB file between a windows 11 laptop and the NAS. I ran the tests in both directions. The copy speed was consistently 1 gbit/second, which means it was constrained by the gigabit network speed. I just installed a 3rd one to the by recording drive for the 4 IP cameras I have on the outside of the house. For those concerned about wearing the drive out from all the writes from the cameras: My cameras average a write load of about 192GB/week. Per PNY the TBW rating of the 2TB drive is 540TB, so the drive should last about 54 years. ((540*1000)/192*7/365) Of course, many of those bytes written may require multiple writes, but I think it's a safe bet I'll get 6-years of use out of the drive, which is an average annual cost of $10/year. Eliminating the hard drives in my NAS has multiple benefits including less noise, heat and power consumption. ... show more

    • Great SSD to replace my laptop's HDD

I purchase two of these SSDs one to use for an image backup of my laptop and the other to replace the HDD in my laptop. Doing the restore process went great no issues and so far the new SSD in the laptop is working just fine and hopefully stays that way.

These Solid State Drives use little power, and have very fast transfer rates. Prices have come down quite a bit. Installing one in an older computer can help speed up boot times, and many other computer operations that involve reading stored data.

My wife's ASUS laptop was getting so slow it would barely run. I got this to "hopefully upgrade" it for my health's sake. I used an external docking/cloning device ( after formatting the new drive ) to copy her existing drive. It is SO much faster in every way. Using an external USB drive for file storage means the drive should last longer. VERY happy with this drive. Given it just arrived yesterday and I immediately installed it. Worked great. Does its job. Fits in the Dell Inspiron 15 (5559). It did not come with cloning software - I checked the PNY website, and while they do have software for other versions, they do not have one for the 500GB 2.5 inch SATA III that I purchased. I highly recommend Macrium Reflect Free, search Macrium cloning software. Copied everything over and was very thorough. Only thing I had to do was reformat the disk to a storage drive and wait for the file transfer. ... show more
