So been a furniture repair guy for 30 years. People constantly ask me where should I buy my furniture. I have to tell you I know furniture probably more then most. I don't even see how this company makes any money at all selling this bed. I figured it up. My time the wood I would have at least $500 in materials not including labor. This frame should be twice the amount they sell it for. If you are looking for a great frame. Buy this one. Its solid its made well. Reading other reviews I dont and can't understand the issue. This frame you are practically stealing it when you purchase it. Its a lifetime purchase. Meaning you will pass it down or give away. It will never break or wear out unless abused or not taken care of. If I ever need another I'll definitely purchase. I have already told others and they have bought. Great platform bed but after reviewing how many boards it takes to secure a mattress , they should be placed no more than 3 inches apart, i went to home depot & spent another 70 dollars for 12 more boards, if you do not get the extra boards your mattress will become uneven and not last, beautiful platform bed tho ! ... show more

If You’re Reading This Review, You’re Definitely a Smart Shopper. Here’s Your Reward for Doing Your Homework. Let’s start by giving Plank+Beam a round of applause – not for quality, but for sheer audacity in shipping a product like this. Imagine IKEA, but in a chaotic “startup mode” where quality control, precise measurements, and decent hardware are just vague ambitions. If you’re considering this bed, here are a few things you should know before you pull the trigger: Build Quality (Or Lack Thereof): This bed has a special talent for misalignment. Out of the four corners, only two came close to lining up properly, with the others gracing us with an impressive 1/8-inch discrepancy (see photo). Trying to align the frame was like wrestling an angry octopus – frustrating, wobbly, and utterly pointless. It’s as if they took one look at the concept of “square” and thought, “Nah, let’s freestyle it.” The Dowels: A Comedy of Errors Oh, those dowels! Plank+Beam’s version of “support” apparently involves thin dowels too small for the holes drilled for them. These dowels just bob around inside the joints like toothpicks in a cocktail glass, adding a big, fat zero to the bed’s structural integrity. I’m pretty sure a group of nine-year-olds with some scrap wood and a rusty hand saw could produce a sturdier frame. Assembly: An Exercise in Patience and Creativity As you tackle assembly, prepare for an epic saga of finding “inventive” ways to piece this bed together. I bet about 20% of these beds go out the door fully functional; the rest seem to exist purely to test your resilience. I’m talking hours of muttered curses, clamped teeth, and the dawning realization that you’re basically MacGyver-ing this thing just to make it stand upright. Conclusion: A Real Roll of the Dice If you like to live dangerously and can handle a project where bed assembly is more like bed engineering, this might just be the adventure you’re looking for. But if you prefer quality and sanity, you’d be better off shopping elsewhere. I’m using this bedframe with a foam mattress. The color is just as descibed. The wood feels ok. Aseemble was easy enough. It is light but supports the mattress well and has held up well after 5 months of use. I did notice that the bed was shifting more so on a day of deep cleaning I lifted up the mattress and noticed that the center screw on support legs were off kilter so I had to remove and adjust them. I noticed that the rubber feet at the bottom of the legs were also broken and cracked. That was surpising. My mattress is not that heavy and neither am I. My flooring is smooth. I got it on a sale for about $150 so cannot complain that much. It’s solid wood but the finish looks unpolished. This is not a problem because the bed cover hides the frame anyway. Although it’s solid it’s squeaking. It needs an extra support at all corners where the beams connect. Overall, it’s a good product…if you don’t want to spend $300+ for pretty much same quality, buy this one. ... show more

Never in my life have I ever built a bed this bad before. I expected so much more since this is a simple bed but no, the measurements were WAY off and the bed BROKE it all broke. At the end I was not able to use the 4 nails because they would not fit in the hole no matter how hard we tried none of them fit and we ended up breaking the bed which was our fault for continuing to try. ... show more
