Description

Wiring Diagram View largerWhat Is A Capacitor?A capacitor is a passive two terminal electrical component (a component that consumes but does not produce energy). In building a sound system for your car, you would want to use a capacitor for a couple of different reasons. Why Do I need One?The main reason a capacitor is recommended is for power reserve. The capacitor stores energy and releases it very quickly to the amplifier(s). How does this help? It’s very simple: Music is dynamic, no matter what type you listen to. The dynamics in musical content can very quickly transition from soft voices to thundering bass notes. These moments are where the benefit of having a capacitor is heard. The amplifier requires a constant amount of steady power to function efficiently and power the speakers. A capacitor will keep the power going to the amplifier consistent and stabilized, which means a better sounding system. Important: The remote output of the head unit is connected to the remote turn on of the capacitor. The capacitor will not function if the remote wire is not connected to your head unit.SpecificationsThree digit, spuer bright blue LED voltage meterVoltage measurement accurate to +/- 0.1VDCBlue illuminated windowWarning tones for the following conditions: Reverse polarity connection, over voltage limit (above 17VDC), and low battery voltage (below 10VDC)Capacitance (microfarads): 10,000,000Working voltage: 16VCDSurge voltage: 24VDCESR (equivalent series resistance): 0.015 Ohm @ 120Hz/25ºCCapacitance tolerance: +/- 10%Dimensions: 9-5/16” x 7-/16” x 2-11/16”Charging The Capacitor View largerCharging The CapacitorFirst, make sure that all the connections according to the diagrams in the instruction manual are correct. Pick up the cable coming from the positive (+) battery terminal. Place the supplied charging resistor between the end of this cable and the positive terminal of the capacitor. The capacitor will begin charging. Charging generally takes five to 60 seconds. During charging, the voltage shown in the three digit display will rise rapidly, then slow as it approaches the voltage of your vehicle’s battery. When fully charged, the display voltage will stop rising. If you have a voltmeter, you can first measure the voltage of your car battery. Then you will know with accuracy that the capacitor is fully charged. Caution: During charging, the resistor will become hot. This is normal, but exercise caution during the charging process. After charging is complete, remove the resistor from the incoming positive cable, and immediately connect it to the positive terminal of the capacitor.

Por el momento funciona bien las luces del carro no parpadean pero si noto que las revoluciones aveces suben y bajan, creo que la única manera se solucionar eso es haciendo un big 3 fue la razón por lo que lo compre pero si note que mejoro un poco

  • Looks great
Size: 1 Pack
11/6/23 Quality is good, the size is nice, Bright and flashy l have one of their amps so definitely goes well with it as far as lighting. 10 Frag? I'm going with nah but close and if sized properly. Sound quality I did end up with a little feed back after the install and I'm push it to what I believe to be it's limits but i haven't gone after everything with my meter yet but it's small and I'm pretty confident that it's something else.If it turns out to be I will come back and update. ... show more

  • Pretty neat, but be leary of the instructions on this page...
Size: 1 Pack
I like this cap. I like the look of it, too. It's a perfect fit for my application. It's packaged pretty well too. The one thing I don't care much about, but isn't about the product itself really, is the support. Yes, you can get what seems pretty good support, but it's through BOSS AUDIO. Planet Audio on all their products have sub-contracted out the support; which I am alright with that...but it's just something you wont really know until you buy something and have a question. One other tid-bit... If you have never used a cap, like me, MAKE sure you consult the instructions. They did provide them, but before I had really went through them or even taken this from the plastic casing to which it was tied down, I was curious how to charge it correctly. The way it's explained on this page, and shown in the picture is incorrect... they told me, and later when I read the instructions, you must have your (-) wire connected and grounded, and ONLY have your remote wire from the deck connected to the cap and nothing else... The explanation on here is showing only the (+) lead and inbetween the posy wire and they posy terminal of course is the resistor... this is incorrect according to the Tech Support/Instruction manual. As far as function, I've not had the chance to get it rolling. I have a few other components I'm waiting on, and when I get them all together and check everything out, I will revisit this review and post an update. Just becareful.. as always, if it has instructions, read them. Oh yea.. The CAP shown in this picture, is NOT the one you will get; IT looks identical to this one, with one exception; instead of two terminals on each side, the 10F Cap will have only one terminal on each side. The one shown here is the 20F model. ... show more

  • I got it on sale, but still worth the value

It does great for what I’m pushing.

  • It’s OK. Maybe .5 Farad of actual capacitance.
Size: 1 Pack
Clearly not a 10 farad cap, it does help with the draw on the electrical system. However, it performs about as well as a quality made old school 1 farad cap. It is quite visually appealing, and in theory should prevent any dimming of the headlights. My headlights still dim, “not as much” but still noticeable. I am only running one punch 200dsm to one 10” sub woofer. The punch 200 is very underrated, and a class A/B amplifier, so actual output is probably around 700 watts of clean power. Over all, it’s an ok product if you don’t have a demand for much output. ... show more

It took a few days of monitoring to see how it works, and happy with the power it gives me for my CB.
