  • Very nice unit - EXCEPTIONALLY quiet!
The media could not be loaded. I'm still not really sure what the technical differences are between the regular version and the "Diamante Ultra" but the Pioneer store says this is the newest version that was just recently released (purchased July 2022), so I got this one despite the lack of customer reviews for this specific model. The installation is quite a project, it took me almost a day and a half - but admittedly I was going slow and double-checking everything, every step of the way. Just coincidentally, the copper piping for the coolant was EXACTLY the length that I needed, one foot less and it would have been too short to reach the outdoor unit. I did get both the "Decorative PVC Slim Line Cover Kit" and the "KWIK-E-VAC Line Set Flushing Kit" ... and both turned out to be excellent add-ons. The PVC cover kit looks great (see pictures), and the Flushing kit was very easy to use for prepping the copper pipes - there's a QR code inside the box with a link to a YouTube video, I followed the instructions step by step and didn't have any problems at all (the alternative to the KWIK-E-VAC is to buy a $100 vacuum pump.) The unit is VERY quiet, especially the inside blower. The AC performance is excellent and cools the room down very quickly. I tested the heat function just to make sure hot air comes out, but won't have an opportunity to run it till winter. Any downsides? Nothing major. There are different versions of the mounting bracket that secures the inside unit to the wall - so the instructions did not have this exact configuration, which was a little confusing. And once I got to the point where I needed to attach the unit to the wall, I found out that I needed to ream out the hole where the pipes go through in order to get the pipe bundle at the right angle - otherwise the system wouldn't mount flat against the wall. Overall, the installation instructions were well written, thorough, and easy to follow, with only a few minor points that could have used a little more detail. Of course, I can't speak to the reliability yet - but it's running fine and seems to be well built. I will certainly post an update if I have any problems as we get more hours on it! ... show more

  • Diamanté mini-split
Finished installation today. Works great! Home-owner can install this unit if they can run a dedicated circuit and if they can pull a vacuum on the lines and interior unit. The vacuum would be applied with a HVAC vacuum unit attached to the service port on the three way port on the outside condenser unit. A local HVAC company gave a quote of $6700 to install a Mitsubishi 24000 btu unit like this system. Outrageous if you have the above capabilities or know someone who does. All in, including a line hide kit, I spent about $2100. Works great. I put this unit in a metal building that is black and white with a black roof. The building is 30 x 80 feet. There is a 20 x 30 feet “living space” that is well insulated with sheet rock walls where the unit was installed. The ambient temperature today was 88 degrees. I live in Alabama. Within 30 minutes it had cooled down and dehumidified the room where it was 78 degrees and a little cool. I went with this system because my 90 year father in law bought a 12000 btu system for his kitchen in his house outside Atlanta. There was a problem. The unit gave a code and this company decided there was a fault in the outside unit. They sent a replacement with minimal questions. That was the bottom line for me. He had great service. ... show more

  • Great unit
Very happy with this purchase. Was not too difficult to assemble for someone good with DIY projects. I did have to hire an HVAC guy to come an evacuate the lines after I got one of the procedures wrong. It also helps quite a bit to have the right tools and a little bit of experience. Flaring the tube ends correctly to avoid leaks is highly important. Be sure to watch plenty of videos on how to install these yourself before you start. Or, do most of the setup yourself and then hire someone to connect it, turn it on, and test it for around $300. ... show more

  • Warranty Doesn't Cover Labor Costs
I had this mini split installed by a licensed HVAC tech in April of 2023 and was maintained. It worked great for the time that it worked. Here is the issue. It's stopped working in November of 2024. So it worked for a year and half with no issue. I had the same HVAC tech come out to check it out. He spent about 5-6 hours trying to trouble shoot it, because it wasn't throwing any codes, then trying to connect with their customer service. By the end, they suggested new sensors that was covered under warranty. So a week later I get them and the tech installs new sensors. Still no luck. He spends another 2-3 hours with their customer service, for them to send a PCB board covered under warranty. 2 weeks go by, and I get it, same tech comes out spends 3 hours, still not working. He contacted the customer service and warranty center, and now we are almost positive that the compressor is bad. Which has been a week and I still haven't gotten it. So not 100% yet that it will solve the issue. Here is my issue with all of this. 1. Yes all parts have been sent free of charge under the warranty, however, the new compressor means new refrigerant, which can cost several hundred dollars. So they send me a new compressor, but I have to pay several hundred dollars for new refrigerant for it to possibly fix my issue. 2. Guess what isn't covered under the warranty. LABOR COST. My tech charges $85 an hour for his time. Adding up his hours, and refrigerant costs, I'm going to be spending likely $1500+ JUST TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN. That is more than I paid for the whole unit! 3. It stopped working the end of November, and it is now almost mid-January, and through the back and forth parts and shipping time, it's still not working. In the middle of winter, when the heat is needed. I am HIGHLY disappointed, and will swear to anyone to never buy anything from Pioneer just because of this experience. My HVAC tech, who has installed many of these, said he likely will stop purchasing and installing these, because of this experience. If they reach out to me and make something right with the labor costs, I will gladly adjust my review, since while it worked, it worked great, but there is no excuse for this ridiculous so far. ... show more
