I have never used a $200 pinpointer but I have used this one on multiple hunts and always found my metal object. It is loud enough and lets you know when you are close by beeping faster as you get closer to the metal. I have now bought one for my wife.

This pinpoint detector works great on the beach where we first used it. It picked up everything from bottle caps to melted aluminum. Very sensitive. I love that it came with two 9V batteries too.

I purchased the HeNengera Pinpoint Metal Detector Pinpointer, and for the price it is quite good. Of course, it won’t be as good as a “Garrett Carrot”, but I didn’t expect it to be. In the package is the pinpointer, a belt holder, a tether, and a pair 9V batteries. Only one 9V is needed, so you do get an extra battery. The owner's manual is comprehensive and clear to understand. When you turn it on, there is a LED light comes on, and it may help you see what you are recovering. There is also a beep so you know it came on. As you approach a metal target the pinpointer will start slowly beeping, and speed up as you get closer to the target. The handle also vibrates with the beep. There are no operating options like sensitivity or only using the vibrate without the beep. It is either on or off when you hit the power button. I air tested the HeNengera pinpointer on a couple coins using a wooden ruler and compared it to my Garrett Pro-Pointer AT to see how well the HeNengera pinpointer worked. I used the HeNengera in its normal mode, and the Garrett was set to maximum sensitivity for my testing. First I laid the quarter flat and measured how close I had to get to start detecting it. The HeNengera was able to detect it from 1 1/4” away. The Garrett detected it from 2 1/2” away. I then tried a penny, and the HeNengera was able to detect it from 1 1/4” away. The Garrett detected it from 2 1/2” away. I then measured how close I had to get to the coins when coming in from the side of the coin. First was the quarter, and the HeNengera was able to detect it from 5/8” away. The Garrett detected it from 1 1/4” away. The penny measured from the side on the HeNengera was able to detect it from 1/2” away. The Garrett detected it from 1” away. As you can see from my tests, the HeNengera was able to detect coins at about ½ the distance of the high dollar Garrett pinpointer. That does not take away from the ability of the HeNengera to pick up the target for a fraction of the price. I have not been able to test the durability yet, but I think for some people this is a good pinpointer that will help in locating metal targets.

Today was my first use of my new Pinpoint Metal Detector. I friend of mine lost his very expensive Apple Watch in some deep snow in my backyard. He has been back twice to look for it, but he just couldn't find it. He asked me if I would help him and if we could use my regular metal detector to try to find it. Since I was able to help him this time, I gave him my pinpoint detector and we headed out the door. I started using the regular metal detector in a large area around the edges of where he thinks he lost it. Since it is so easy and light to use,I gave him the pinpoint detector and he started looking exactly where he thought he lost it. I told him that the wand was waterproof and to go ahead and stick it in the snow and move it around. The snow was deep enough that we couldn't tell if it fell through the snow, all the way to the ground, or if it was laying in the snow, perhaps a few inches or more above the ground. After about 15 minutes it started to get dark on us, and the LED light became a great help. He was actually on his knees searching. All of a sudden he was startled and pop up quickly for a moment. The vibration the detector makes surprised him unexpectedly. A sound went off as well, but it was the vibration that got to him. Needless to say, he was completely overjoyed that we found his watch, and did it with this little, + or - 5 ounce, pinpoint metal detector. This is an easy 5 STAR rating. It worked even better that I thought it.

I have a full size metal detector but needed to get a pinpoint device to help narrow down locations when the full size device found something. I also wanted something small for when I lost something in the yard and didn't want to get out the big detector. I'd been putting off purchasing an expensive pinpoint detector and this one came up as an option. It arrives with a holster, strap, and two batteries (which is nice since I rarely have 9 volt batteries in the house). It is surprisingly light, and the LED light on it really helps when you are trying to locate something down on the ground. While it may not register items quite as far away as a more expensive unit, it does a good job finding things once you get within a reasonable distance. Using the pinpointer, I was able to find the small metal stake for my garden flag that I thought was lost forever in the long grass! I recommend it for anyone who is on a budget or just wants to try one out.

This past summer my fiancée bought me a full-sized metal detector for my birthday. I think it was a bid to get me off the couch and walking to the beach with her.🙂 I brought the detector with me to Vermont to visit her daughter and son-in-law who live in a very cool pre-1800's farm house. I figured it would be a great opportunity to break it in. Long story short, while I had a lot of fun detecting, I found it frustrating not being able to pinpoint the objects it detected. I figured it was time to order a pinpoint metal detector to help me zero in on the items the larger detector identified. While I haven't yet had the chance to use the HeNengera pinpointer in the field, my initial indoor tests with it tell me it will work just fine. I tested it with a few different types of metal and all registered as expected. I love that it has a small LED light on it to light up the work area. I also like that it included a holster, a coiled lanyard, and not one but two 9 volt batteries. I am very pleased with this pinpointer and am looking forward to using it in the field when the weather gets a bit warmer.
