These feel almost more like they should be purchased in the garden aisle rather than sewing lol...SOLID is the word that first comes to mind. Sharp would be the second. I layered pieces of scrap fabric I had lying around & only at 6 did they even *begin* to require me to use a bit of extra strength to cut thru the stack...which it still did, easily. And I was using the heftiest pieces I could find; corduroy, felt, denim...went thru 'em like they was soft BUTTAH. Every sewist needs a good set of pinking shears, & for the money I can't imagine you'll find a higher-quality scissor than these. With proper care, I expect these are seriously the sort of item that could be passed along once you no longer have need of them; in our disposable culture how often do you come across items like THAT these days??

When I was a kid, my mom used her pinking shears for everything. It was sorta funny, looking back on it. I thought it was normal that everything had that trademark zig zag design on the edge. LOL So when I started doing different crafts where pinking shears helped out, such as junk journaling, I wanted a pair of my own. Right out of the box, these were heavy (in a good way) and man, "SNIP" right through the paper. Ok. But the real test will be using them with fabric, so I found an old t-shirt and gave it the zig zag cut, and again, that classic sound. "Like Butta" right through. These are a great value at $9.99 a pair, plus they have a 20% off coupon right now.

I was very pleased with the ease of use (handles are comfortable) and the sharpness of the blades. I had about given up using pinking shears since my old ones were dull and useless. These are a different story. The box they come in has text on the back talking about how they care for their customers and to please contact them with any questions. I wanted to know what they recommend to keep the scissors sharp so these don’t wind up in a drawer taking up space. So I emailed them right after getting the shears and heard nothing in return. So I emailed again and got the same result: nada, zero, zip. What would have been 5 stars is now 3 and maybe it should be 2. Very disappointing. Update: After my first review was published, I heard from the company. They gave me a suggestion for ensuring that the shears stay sharp: applying scissor oil and store the shears with a small coat of oil after using. I confirmed with them that good ole sewing machine oil can be substituted. I’m now changing my rating to 4 stars (since I don’t have a project yet where I can really put them to the test to rate 5 stars).

I was skeptical at the price tag, how could a good pair of pinking shears be $10-$15? Well I ate my words because right out of the box, these were sharp and cut right into my fabric. The satisfying “shhhnip” you get with new scissors was exactly what I wanted, and these have it! Pinking shears are an excellent way to prevent fabrics from fraying and count as a finishing technique, so having these on hand really helps me be efficient with my costuming. Not having to serge/overlock all my edges with some fabrics is a relief! I’m really happy with these and would recommend them to everyone who needs a good pair of pinking shears and don’t want to break the bank!

These shears arrived with a very fragrant (not in a good way) scent. It's from the machine oil that they applied to prevent rusting. I'm still giving them 5 stars because the seller does note in the description that they will have oil on them that needs to be wiped off, although I do wish they had used something with less of a scent. The shears do seem to have a little heft and to be well made. They cut well, work smoothly, and have comfort grip handles. Here's hoping they continue to cut well for a very long time and the smell dissipates quickly.

I am not a professional seamstress and got these for cutting fabric strictly for craft and simple sewing projects. Of course, you should never use fabric shears to cut paper, it will dull them. I'm not cutting expensive fabric either. These have a great weight to them and cut evenly and easily. I think they are a great buy for the price. Pinking scissors can be very pricey.

These have a great solid feel to them, I'm not worried about them breaking or anything like that. Has a nice plastic sleeve for protection. They cut well, we'll see how time dulls them or not. Due to their weight I feel like they'll last me for years to come

I haven't seen pinking shears since I was a kid Mom had them for cutting fabric--the zigzags discourage fraying. I used to use them for cutting out things with zigzag edges. :) Now that I'm an adult, my paper cutting days are pretty much over. However, I have found that sometimes on casual clothes and loungewear, the legs are just too long. I'm way to lazy to bother hemming something I just kick around in, so enter the pinking shears. I can cut off an inch or two, the bottom is lightly zigzagged, and the threads don't ravel and look messy. Which is just what I wanted.
