  • Excellent light for the money
Color: 20"x7"x2.4"
Excellent light for the money. I turn the white LEDs to minimum, it would be better if it comes with more of the blue ones but still it’s more than enough light. The wider dimension gives it better coverage than the competitors. You can get away with just one light on a 36” wide tank by placing less light demanding corals on the corners. After watched the black box LEDs review from BRS with the concern on the inferior power supply catching fire, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it comes with a CE approved power supply in its own enclosure inside. The two fans produce some noise but keep the light very cool. It ships with only four wires and hooks, not enough to hang the light right out of the box but a trip to the hardware store and $6 solved the problem. Love the bright and sharp color of the LED, color mixes very well, no disco light effect. The only place you’ll notice some separation of color is in the edge of the dark shadows. Corals show much more color compare to t5 specially in the green and red spectrum. So far the corals seem to like it. I would recommend it ... show more

  • Has worked well
Color: 20"x7"x2.4"
Purchased this light over one year ago. Timer is set for 10 hours a day. Light has had no issues and illuminates my 70G tank nicely. Anemone’s have done great.

  • Medium to kinda advanced. Great bang for the buck! Recommend to all going into the hobby!
Color: 20"x7"x2.4"
Supreme bang for the buck! Lps is doing great, (of course!) but sps is also doing great! I found that on my 33” tall tank, about 2/5 ‘normal’ light and 2/3 blue light does about 300 par at the top, 80-100 par at the bottom and great polyp response from my montipora (the most difficult coral in my tank) at 2/3 up from the bottom. You really can’t go wrong with this light, I’d say one per every 32” of tank width. Cons- you can’t set the light to start on one spectrum and ramp up and down to create a daytime effect- you’re either going to have to add additional lights for sunrise/sunset or just make the intensities be midpoint. Haven’t tried acropora, but if someone has had success, I’d like to know the settings and depth or the supplemental lights you used. ... show more

  • Received exactly what I paid for
Color: 20"x7"x2.4"
I was initially thrilled with this light. I was a beginner and wanted a more powerful light to see if my system could transition from fish only to a reef tank. This light can grow coral, but you need some skill and luck to make it work. After seeing many different tank setups, and growth rates, it does not grow coral well. To be clear, it will grow coral or at least keep it alive, but you will not have hardy growth. I have a mixed reef with SPS, LPS, anemones and soft coral. It can keep all of them alive and maybe with some luck figuring out the white channel and blue channel dials, you can grow coral. My optimal parameters for growth with this light : SG 1.026, ph 8.3, PO4 0.1, NH3 5, Ca 480, dKH 8. In one of my photos you can see I marked the light with silver for on and off positions. I marked using a chalk pen my "optimal" settings. My light is over a 40 breeder, and 8" above the water surface. It does not cover the whole 40 breeder well. I initially had it over a 29 bowfront which was the perfect width. The light was more than powerful enough to reach the substrate, but the upper rockwork was being blasted by hyper par values. My SPS was up top and everything else cascaded down the tank. If I lowered the intensity just a bit, it would have huge par swings that would cause some to start dying out and others to start stretching. It worked well at the time because I was still learning and trying new things and did not fully realize the drawbacks. Watch elevated dKH values (above 8 or 9) with this led, as higher dKH will make it easier to burn your corals when adjusting LED intensity fairly quick. Pros: It is a relatively inexpensive reef light if you're on a budget. Can grow coral. Quiet fans. CONS: No warranty support. Very poor customer support. Amazon will tell you after 30 days, to take it up with the manufacturer/seller. You will be ignored or flat out lied to. Do not depend on the warranty claims listed. Manufacturer site states 3 year warranty. High failure rate (my blue channel went out within a year). I have many freshwater fish tanks, all are led, and all are working 5+ years, 4" over the tanks. Two adjustment dials are a poor way to balance out spectrum for proper coral growth. Hard place for beginners to start, and that is who is most likely looking at this light. Very powerful LED's will burn/kill your coral trying to find the right intensity and spectrum using the two dials. Shell started to rust and hanging bolts are corroded (see photos) My blue channel failed within a year and I was told it was out of warranty. I said that it wasn't and provided my purchase date through the order number. I was ignored after that. Contacted phlizon external website from Amazon's support recommendation and nothing. You get what you pay for. Do not expect it to last. I would advise anyone looking to buy this light to look elsewhere. Buying a new reef light that is sub par in so many areas every year or so seems ridiculous, when you can just start right and buy a reliable one. You will probably spend the same amount of money in 3 or four years, with the difference being that with a better light, you would have 3 or 4 years of solid coral growth without the failures. I also feel that the intensity of the blue channel was dimming as they started to fail. This makes you walk up to the tank and start turning knobs, which is the last thing you should be doing. ... show more

  • Pretty good lights - some issues
Color: 20"x7"x2.4"
3.5 stars. These lights are decent, probably ok for the money. I got them as an upgrade to my $50 harbor freight fluorescent shop lights which have been going strong for 3 years, but haven’t been quite bright enough to keep my ludwigia as healthg as I want. I would say these lights are maybe 20% brighter than the shop lights. Is that worth $300? I’m not sure. I was honestly expecting them to be a little brighter. They are absolutely not 150 watts as advertised. But they are brighter than what I had, so I guess we’ll see. The fans are very quiet, but may be noticeable on a small tank. I have a sump with a wet dry filtration system so there’s a bit of running water noise already, so I don’t hear the fans. My main issue is that the outlet on one of them didn’t work out of the box, so I had to put that light at the end of my tank to make the three light system work. It doesn’t bode well for quality control, and I was already worried about longevity of these lights. My other issue is that the outlet that connects each light together is on top of the light rather than in the back. This makes it so that there is a cable sticking up awkwardly from each light and there’s no easy way to hide it. ... show more
