I had been searching for an E-bike since last summer. This bike is an exact knockoff of an Aventon Bike I was looking at in a bike shop in Birmingham. But that bike was $4100.00 ! I compared everything, and this bike had the same name brand components (de-railer, calipers and even the battery). The motor is a different brand but both were made in China. Anyhow, assembly was a breeze even though the instruction booklet was written in very broken English obviously by someone of Asian background , it was a breeze to assemble out of the box and I was riding in less than 30 minutes. First run was pretty shaky for me because I’m 64 and I’m 270lbs ! But after a few minutes, (more like an hour 😁) I started to get the hang of it. I immediately knew the seat was too small so I ordered a larger seat. I ordered a tail light and a rear view camera and display. It also came with an IPhone holder that works very well! Out of the box , the battery was charged over 90%. The manual (which surprisingly is pretty detailed) recommended not to charge the battery until it showed 25% or less. Apparently , these batteries can only be charged a “finite” number of times before it will no longer take a charge. That being said , Iv’e put over 4 hours on my bike and I’m still showing over 70% ! What’s amazing , the last couple of rides I noticed when I got back the battery indicator was down to about 60%. But the next time I got on the bike, it would be higher than it was when I ended the previous ride. The manual stresses discipline in charging your battery correctly. The one thing the expensive bike had that this one doesn’t is hydraulic brakes. This one has cable brakes. But they are very effective. Also , the motor is in the rear wheel hub. The expensive bikes have the motor on the pedal hub. The electronics are fine and easy to learn. I have mine set for “on demand” throttle control instead of pedal assist. This works best for me as I can pedal like a normal bike and just throttle up when I need it. One of the things I didn’t like with pedal assist on this bike is that in this mode, when you pedal , the motor kicks in and it continues to spool up as long as your pedaling. This can be very tricky for old people like me! Even with me at 270 lbs, this motor delivers an impressive amount of thrust that comes continuously as long as your pedaling. I can’t seem to master that function. I like the “on demand” function. It works superbly! On flat ground my bike will hit 27 mph ! So far , I love it ! I will update as the weather gets warmer and we start riding more frequently. Bottom line, this bike delivers and it’s only a third of the price of comparable name brands… ... show more

Likes: -All welds are good, bike appears well made - still cant get over how much bike I got for the price, fingers crossed it can go longer than my old ebike (speed controller died at 12k, couldnt get replacement) -seller was very responsive in sending me replacement battery keys, as the originals did not match the lock Dislikes: -The pedal assist bolts at full power to preset cruise control speeds, regardless of how slow you pedal. When kids are playing in the bike path and I want to go 5mph, the bike bolt to 13mph in setting PAS 1 (slowest). This full power sprinting also puts unwanted stress on the motor and battery. The manual points out settings screens to adjust this, but changing these settings does nothing. I can mitigate this problem by feathering the throttle to slow it down, as the throttle action supersedes problematic pedal assist (I can throttle to 5mph to go slow while pedaling as long as the thumb throttle is being used). What irks me most about this is that this bike could have been perfect with the right firmware, costing nothing more to the manufacturer - all I need is adjust pedal assist based on watts rather than top speed to drag-race up to. -the battery was initially awkward to remove/install due to the tight speed controller placement, but have gotten used to it and its no longer an issue. -a review video showed a rear view mirror, which I did not receive. I wound up cutting a hole in the handlebar grip to accommodate my existing mirror. -the chain set has me peddling like the cartoon Road Runner at PAS 3 (23mph), at faster speeds its not practical to productively pedal. I wish there was an ebike-specific gear for fast-speed pedaling. Note: Battery indicator seems to show full (ish) for an impossibly long time, then drop off more rapidly Warning: with 12k of ebiking, I was never fearful of moving traffic, but parked cars are deadly - about every 1500 miles, a door would pop open in to the bike lane at the worst possible time, the only thing that kept me out of the ER is that I was already safely in the car lane when these incidents happened. I got this 30mph bike so I could spend more time in the safe car lane and not the death-zone of a bike lane when doors pop open. My previous 20mph bike always gave me reaction room if a car crossed in front of me at intersections where I had the right of way with no stop (and the oblivious car had a stop sign). At 30mph, that safe feeling reaction time is no longer there...choose your speeds wisely - I only go 30mph under specific and rare conditions where doing so increases safety. No regrets about the bike so far... wondering if I should have given 5 stars because its so cheap - will update if something breaks... ... show more
